This research examines how IoT makes a significant contribution to the innovation of media firms. The media firms will be able to find new reveue sources and strengthen firms' competence through innovating product, process and business model. While IoT increases the experience of interactivity and immersion for consumption, it improves the way ads are exposed and its impact is measured, leading to revenue increase. For these benefits fulfilled, innovation friendly media eco-system must be established. It is the most critical that media firms should change skeptical attitude toward IoT's potential and actively invest it to employ IoT. The government should create regulatory framework to best utilize the innovative advantages of IoT.

Background: Protopanaxatriol (PPT) is a secondary intestinal metabolite of ginsenoside in ginseng. Although the effects of PPT have been reported in various diseases including cancer, diabetes and inflammatory diseases, the skin protective effects of PPT are poorly understood. Methods: HaCaT cells were treated with PPT in a dose-dependent manner. mRNA and protein levels which related to skin barrier and hydration were detected compared with retinol. Luciferase assay was performed to explore the relative signaling pathway. Western blot was conducted to confirm these pathways and excavated further signals. Results: PPT enhanced the expression of filaggrin (FLG), transglutaminase (TGM)-1, claudin, occludin and hyaluronic acid synthase (HAS) -1, -2 and -3. The mRNA expression levels of FLG, TGM-1, HAS-1 and HAS-2 were suppressed under NF-κB inhibition. PPT significantly augmented NF-κB-luc activity and upregulated Src/AKT/NF-κB signaling. In addition, PPT also increased phosphorylation of the mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) ERK, JNK and p38 and upstream MAPK activators (MEK and MKK). Furthermore, transcriptional activity of AP-1 and CREB, which are downstream signaling targets of MAPK, was enhanced by PPT. Conclusion: PPT improves skin barrier function and hydration through Src/AKT/NF-κB and MAPK signaling. Therefore, PPT may be a valuable component for cosmetics or treating skin disorders.

The review of the present status of Korean industries and the establishment of strategic R&D agenda are necessary to improve the innovative technological capabilities of Korea to the top level of the world. Recently, Korean ministry of science and technology (MOST) has selected specific areas to develop national technological innovation system, and prepared national technology roadmap (NTRM). Korean ministry of environment (ME) also has prepared technology roadmap (TRM) to help efficient development of environmental science and technology. The development of eco-friendly process in NTRM and TRM was introduced and reviewed in this study. In addition, strength, weakness, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) analysis of technological capabilities of Korea was performed. The results propose the core role of industry, university, research institute, and government for the development of Korean environmental process technology.
This study examined correlations between U-Service for U-City and assessment indicators for urban competitiveness. The results of this study show that U-Service is used as a means of strengthening urban competitiveness in six types of cities, despite the differences in degree of contribution. The proper use of U-Service in Safety & Health City and Vitality (Economy) City has significantly contributed to strengthening the competitiveness of such cities. Of the assessment items for urban competitiveness, common items and Culture City type show that U-Service has not contributed much to strengthening urban competitiveness. The analysis shows that because common items are part of the assessment items for urban policies, these items are not suitable to the character of a U-City that implements U-Service through intelligent physical facilities. On the other hand, U-Service related to the Culture City type is relatively less developed. This study found out that U-Service could be used to reinforce urban competitiveness.
Since the 1990s, discussions regarding green libraries started in the U.S.A, in the name of 'library and the environment', 'Green librarians', 'constructing of environmental sources', 'noise and library', 'building libraries as an environmental alternative' and etc. Currently, green libraries certified by an evaluation system are more than 50. This study proposes a direction to build a green library. The study analyzes national and international green libraries certified by the evaluation system. The cases are analyzed based on the six evaluation factors in the LEED certification system; Sustainable Site, Water Efficiency, Energy and Atmosphere, Material and Resources, Indoor Environmental Quality, Innovation and Design Process. Since the evaluation system focuses mainly on the architectural aspects, there was a need of expanding the concept of eco-friendly in this research. The newly expanded eco-friendly concept includes services, content, and supplies of libraries.
The progress in flat panel displays over the last two decades has been astonishing. In just 20 years, the LCD-TV grew up from a 2-inch curiosity, to an industry that will sell about 120 million flat panel TV's this year, with viewing area up to 4000 times larger. That success is based on continuous innovation, especially in manufacturing processes. For the next decade to bring another doubling of the business, progress will need to continue in four major areas: Human factors, ecological impact, visual quality, and of course continued drive towards affordability. This talk will detail the technology advances that can allow this industry to meet those challenges. Human factors. Today, we adapt our lifestyle to our technology. People organize their offices, and their homes, around displays. We pass around mobile phones to share images, rather than experiencing them as a group. Billions of newspapers continue to be sold daily. Advances in flexible displays can lead to large portable displays. "New era projection" includes the handheld Pico Projectors that are already on the market, and will ultimately appear integrated in mobile phones the same way cameras do today. "Eco" impact. Today TV's are one of the top energy consumers in a U.S. home, and the fastest growing. Watching a large flat panel TV can cost twice as much as running a large refrigerator. With today's concern about energy consumption, regulations are starting to emerge worldwide to limit TV electrical use. Fortunately, good solutions exist in using light management films to eliminate bulbs, saving power without increasing cost. Going forward, LED backlights will drive another step downward. OLED displays might be the ultimate solution. Visual quality. The color of an LCD-TV is still often considered inferior to a far less expensive CRT. And almost all displays suffer from representing a three-dimensional world on a two dimensional surface. The technology to improve color is available today, and will likely move from premium sets into the mainstream as costs come down. 3D is now arriving in movie theaters worldwide, and that will drive up the demand for similar realistic images in home theaters. And the technology is emerging today for 3D representation to move beyond specialized applications into everyday use, on screens large and small. Affordability. The world takes cost-down miracles for granted in consumer electronics. Each of these other advances will be balanced with a drive for affordability, especially as the market grows in emerging countries. The other three challenges must be met without increasing cost. Putting this all together, the next few years will emphasize "eco friendly" designs, and enhanced images such as 3D. By 2013 we will start to see serious penetration by emissive technologies (OLED, high efficiency plasma, or other), with the "ultimate display" likely not in the market for a decade. Lots of opportunities for innovation remain ahead of us.
Future automobiles are evolving into movable living spaces capable of eco-friendly autonomous driving. The role of electrically processing, controlling, and commanding various information in the vehicle is essential. It is expected that the automotive semiconductor will play a key role in the future automobile such as self-driving and eco-friendly automobile. In order to foster the automotive semiconductor industry, it is necessary to grasp technology trends and to acquire technology and quality that reflects the requirements in advance, thereby achieving technological innovation with industrial competitiveness. However, there is a lack of systematic analysis of technology trends to date. In this study, we analyzed the technology trends of automotive semiconductors using patent analysis and topic model, and confirmed technologies such as electric cars, driving assistance, and digital manufacturing. The technology trends showed that element technology and technical characteristics change according to technology convergence, market needs, and government regulations. Through this research, it is expected that it will help to make R&D policy for automotive semiconductor industry and to make decision for industrial technology strategy establishment. In addition, it is expected that it will be used effectively in detail research direction and patent strategy establishment by providing detailed classification of technology and trend analysis result of technology.
LED (Light Emitting Diode) lighting is gaining more and more market penetration as one of the global warming countermeasures. LED is the next generation of fusion source composed of epi/chip/packaging of semiconductor process technology and optical/information/communication technology. LED has been applied to the existing industry areas, for example, automobiles, TVs, smartphones, laptops, refrigerators and street lamps. Therefore, LED makers have been striving to achieve the leading position in the global competition through development of core source technologies even before the promotion and adoption of LED technology as the next generation growth engine with eco-friendly characteristics. However, there has been a point of view on the cost compared to conventional lighting as a large obstacle to market penetration of LED. Therefore, companies are developing a Chip-Scale Packaging (CSP) LED technology to improve performance and reduce manufacturing costs. In this study, we perform patent analysis associated with Flip-Chip CSP LED and flow chart for promising technology forecasting. Based on our analysis, we select key patents and key patent players to derive the business strategy for the business success of Flip-Chip CSP PKG LED products.
