Let G = (V, E) be a connected graph. The eccentric connectivity index of G is defined by C (G) = ∑u∈V (G) deg(u)e(u), where deg(u) and e(u) denote the degree and eccentricity of the vertex u in G, respectively. In this paper, we introduce a new formulation of C that will be called the distance eccentric connectivity index of G and defined by $${\xi}^{De}(G)\;=\;{\sum\limits_{u{\in}V(G)}}\;deg^{De}(u)e(u)$$ where degDe(u) denotes the distance eccentricity degree of the vertex u in G. The aim of this paper is to introduce and study this new topological index. The values of the eccentric connectivity index is calculated for some fundamental graph classes and also for some graph operations. Some inequalities giving upper and lower bounds for this index are obtained.

The accidential errors of horizontal angles are influenced by sighting, reading and eccentric errors etc. This paper deals with the influence of eccentric error by the formula of theory and evaluation, and actually testing measurement. The results show that the eccentric error is calculated through the sighting distance, observed angle, eccentric distance and angle. And then, three repeating method is of practical use, and also, eccentric error is able to evaluate through the sighting distance and observed angle in according to performance of each instrument.

The characteristics of involute gear pump with eccentric gap between gear tip and housing have been studied in terms of volumetric flow rate and/or flow efficiency. The analysis has been done with FLUENT/R-13 employing with k-e model for the turbulent flow under the given conditions of rotational velocity, gap distance and outlet pressure. The effect of parameters continues to be shown for the eccentric gear as same as for the concentric gear such that the volumetric flow rate (volumetric efficiency) increases as the increases of rotational velocity and decrease of gap distance and of outlet pressure. In the meantime, the shape of pressure build-up appears to be exponentially increase as gap distance decreases at upstream position. The pressure is rapidly developing in the upstream and remains almost constant thereafter in the downstream of circumferential flow path. This typical characteristics becomes more profound as eccentricity increases. The pump performance for the eccentric gear pump with minimum gap distance shows better than its concentric counterpart. However, it shows not for the concentric pump with minimum gap distance. Therefore, the gap reduction due to eccentricity may be positive for pump performance.

Purpose : This study was to verify the effectiveness of eccentric training and to make clinical recommendations on detailed application methods by comparing the effects of changes in acromiohumeral distance (AHD), pain intensity, muscle strength, and functional performance after applying a 12-week eccentric training program (ET group) or concentric training program (CT group) for patients with partial rotator cuff (supraspinatus) tears with moderate to severe shoulder pain. Methods : A total of 29 subjects were assigned to either the "ET group (n=15)" or the "CT group (n=14)" through simple randomization and were measured in the same way at baseline before intervention, 4 weeks and 12 weeks after intervention. All subjects received a physical therapy program 12 sessions 3 times a week for the first 4 weeks, and physical therapy program, 12 sessions a week, from 4 weeks to 12 weeks, for a total 20 sessions. Ultrasound machine was used for AHD, visual analog scale (VAS) was used for pain intensity, electronic hand held dynamometer was used for muscle strength, Korean Constant shoulder score (K-CSS) used for functional performance. Results : AHD, pain intensity, and muscle strength did not show significant differences at 4 weeks, but improved numerically, and showed significant differences at 12 weeks (p<.05), showing superior results in the eccentric training group compared to the concentric training group. Functional performance showed significant changes at both 4 and 12 weeks (p<.05), and excellent results were also found in the eccentric training group. Conclusion : In patients with partial rotator cuff tears with moderate to severe shoulder pain, an eccentric training program increased acromiohumeral distance (AHD), reduced pain, and increased muscle strength. Therefore, it can be clinically presented as an intervention method that can quickly and effectively improve functional performance, which is the ultimate goal of physical therapy.

With increasing use of high-strength concrete tied columns in structural engineering, it becomes necessary to examine the applicability of related sections of the current design codes. This experimental study was conducted to investigate the behavior of eccentrically loaded high-strength concrete columns. Column specimens with concrete strength 234, 437, 703kgf/㎠ were tested under monotonically increasing eccentric compression. The test parameters included the longitudinal reinforcement ratio, eccentric distance and concrete compressive strength. The analytical results obtained from the stress-strain relationship and the ACI's equivalent rectangular stress block are compared with experimental test results.
To study the eccentric compressive performance of the basalt-fiber reinforced recycled aggregate concrete (BFRRAC)-filled circular steel tubular stub column, 8 specimens with different replacement ratios of recycled coarse aggregate (RCA), basalt fiber (BF) dosage, strength grade of recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) and eccentricity were tested under eccentric static loading. The failure mode of the specimens was observed, and the relationship curves during the entire loading process were obtained. Further, the load-lateral displacement curve was simulated and verified. The influence of the different parameters on the peak bearing capacity of the specimens was analyzed, and the finite element analysis model was established under eccentric compression. Further, the design-calculation method of the eccentric bearing capacity for the specimens was suggested. It was observed that the strength failure is the ultimate point during the eccentric compression of the BFRRAC-filled circular steel tubular stub column. The shape of the load-lateral deflection curves of all specimens was similar. After the peak load was reached, the lateral deflection in the column was rapidly increased. The peak bearing capacity decreased on enhancing the replacement ratio or eccentric distance, while the core RAC strength exhibited the opposite behavior. The ultimate bearing capacity of the BFRRAC-filled circular steel tubular stub column under eccentric compression calculated based on the limit analysis theory was in good agreement with the experimental values. Further, the finite element model of the eccentric compression of the BFRRAC-filled circular steel tubular stub column could effectively analyze the eccentric mechanical properties.

Several municipal seismic vulnerability investigations have been identified pounding of adjacent structures as one of the main hazards due to the constrained separation distance between adjacent buildings. Consequently, an assessment of the seismic pounding risk of buildings is superficial in future adjustment of design code provisions for buildings. The seismic lateral oscillation of adjacent buildings with eccentric alignment is partly restrained, and therefore a torsional response demand is induced in the building under earthquake excitation due to eccentric pounding. In this paper, the influence of the eccentric seismic pounding on the design demands for adjacent symmetric buildings with eccentric alignment is presented. A mathematical simulation is formulated to evaluate the eccentric pounding effects on the seismic design demands of adjacent buildings, where the seismic response analysis of adjacent buildings in series during collisions is investigated for various design parameters that include number of stories; in-plan alignment configurations, and then compared with that for no-pounding case. According to the herein outcomes, the effects of seismic pounding severity is mainly depending on characteristics of vibrations of the adjacent buildings and on the characteristics of input ground motions as well. The position of the building wherever exterior or interior alignment also, influences the seismic pounding severity as the effect of exposed direction from one or two sides. The response of acceleration and the shear force demands appear to be greater in case of adjacent buildings as seismic pounding at different levels of stories, than that in case of no-pounding buildings. The results confirm that torsional oscillations due to eccentric pounding play a significant role in the overall pounding-involved response of symmetric buildings under earthquake excitation due to horizontal eccentric alignment.

Purpose : The hamstring is a group of three muscles, biceps femoris, semitendinosus, and semimembranosus, placed behind the thigh. The hamstring is one of the most commonly injured muscles and usually occurs during high-speed, high-intensity exercise. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of static stretching and eccentric exercise of hamstrings on flexibility, strength, and functional performance. Methods : This study was conducted on 28 healthy adults. Subjects were divided into a static stretching group (n=15) and an eccentric exercise group (n=13). Subjects measured hamstring flexibility (active knee extension test), hamstring strength (concentric and eccentric peak torque), and functional performance (triple hop for distance and modified 20 m sprint). The intervention was conducted three times a week for six weeks. To compare the difference between values before and after the intervention, paired t-test was used, and an independent t-test was used to compare between groups. Results : In both groups, the active knee extension test, concentric peak torque, triple hop test, and 20 m sprint significantly increased after the intervention compared to before the intervention (p<.05). However, no significant difference was found in eccentric peak torque after intervention in both groups (p>.05). No significant difference was found between the two groups in the effect on the variables (p>.05). Conclusion : Both interventions were found to be effective for flexibility, concentric strength, and functional performance. Eccentric exercise and static stretching are recommended to improve the flexibility and functional performance of the hamstring. This study's results will be considered essential data on the effectiveness of static stretching and eccentric exercise.

This paper presented an improved analytical method for calculating the open-circuit magnetic field in the surface-mounted permanent magnet machines accounting for slots and eccentric magnet pole. Magnetic field produced by radial and parallel permanent magnet is equivalent to that produced by surface current according to equivalent surface-current method of permanent magnet. The model is divided into two types of subdomains. The field solution of each subdomain is obtained by applying the interface and boundary conditions. The magnet field produced by equivalent surface current is superposed according to superposition principle of vector potential. The investigation shows harmonic contents of radial flux density can be reduced a lot by changing eccentric distance of eccentric magnet poles compared with conventional surface-mounted permanent-magnet machines with concentric magnet poles. The FE(finite element) results confirm the validity of the analytical results with the proposed model.

A numerical study has been conducted on the development of the velocity and temperature fields in a laminar flow through an eccentric annular duct. A bipolar coordinates system is adopted, and a numerical program is developed to analyze 3-dimensional parabolic flow problems. In the analysis of the velocity field, the entrance length has been defined as the distance where the axial pressure gradient is greater than that of the developed velocity field by 5%. The dimensionless hydrodynamic entry length increases with increasing eccentricity. In the transverse flow fields, the reverse flow region along the wall due to the developing axial velocity near the entrance of the duct is found. In the analysis of the temperature field, the thermal entry length has been defined as the axial distance where the mean fluid temperature is 5% less than that of the developed temperature field. The dimensionless thermal entry length increases as eccentricity or Prandtl number increases. The overshoot of the mean Nusselt number over the developed value at the zero-temperature wall is encountered, and the rate of the overshoot increases with the increase of the eccentricity and Prandtl number.
