저수온에 노출된 말쥐치 Thamnaconus modestus의 생존율, 혈액학적 및 조직학적 반응 (Survival, Hematologic and Histological Changes of File Fish Thamnaconus modestus Adult Exposed to Different Lower Temperature)

  • 수온은 양식어류의 생존에 영향을 미치는 가장 주요한 환경 요인이며, 겨울철 급작스런 수온 하강은 양식어류의 질병과 집단폐사 발생의 요인이 되기도 한다. 본 연구는 겨울철 수온 하강으로 인해 빈번하게 폐사가 발생하고 있는 말쥐치의 양식관리를 위한 기초자료로 활용하기 위해 말쥐치의 하한수온내 성범위, 산소소비율, 혈액학적 및 조직학적 반응을 조사하였다. 수온 5℃에서 노출 3일째, 수온 6℃에서는 노출 4일째 모두 폐사하여 말쥐치의 저수온에 대한 반수치사 하한수온은(LT50) 6.97℃ (6.69~7.27℃)였다. 산소소비율은 수온 하강에 따라 감소하여 수온 간 유의한 차이(p<0.05)를 나타내었다. 혈액내 활성산소 소거효소인 SOD활성도는 대조구 10℃에 비해 수온 6℃에서 유의하게 상승하였다(p<0.05). 반면 CAT는 실험수온 간에 유의한 변화를 나타내지 않았다(p>0.05), 삼투질농도는 대조구와 실험수온 간 유의한 차이는 나타나지 않았다(p>0.05). 코티졸은 대조구에 비해 수온 하강에 따라 증가하였으며 수온 간 유의한 차이를 나타내었다(p<0.05). 간의 조직학적 변화는 혈관내 혈구의 감소, 간세포의 공포화와 간세포 핵의 응축, 췌장 외분비 선세포의 위축 및 효소원과립들이 감소하였다.

An Unusual Coastal Environment and Cochlodinium polykrikoides Blooms in 1995 in the South Sea of Korea

  • Cochlodinium polykrikoides bloom in 1995 was studied with a focus on an unusual coastal environment in the South Sea of Korea. Data on temperature, salinity, and zooplankton biomass during 1965-1998 and nutrients during 1990-1998 and chlorophyll-a during 1995-1998 were used in this study. These data were obtained from the serial oceanographic observations in Korean waters carried out by the National Fisheries Research and Development Institute. In 1995 the C. polykrikoides bloom began in the coastal area around Narodo Island in August and consequently occurred to the whole coastal area of the South and East Seas of Korea. During June-October 1995, the coastal environment was unusual compared with the long-term means during 1965-1998. In June 1995, sea surface temperature was 1-2$^{\circ}C$ warmer than in other years in all coastal areas, while salinity was high only to the east of Jeju Island. In August 1995, a strong coastal front appeared inshore of a line between Jeju and Tsushima Islands. In particular, a strong coastal front which showed the characteristics of upwelling front occurred in the coastal area around Narodo and Sorido Islands, not only because of a strong intrusion of the Tsushima Warm Current but also because of the upwelling of cold bottom water. Salinity was low in the neighboring waters of western side of Jeju Island. Nutrients and chlorophyll-a were high in the inshore area between Narodo and Sorido Islands in 1995 in contrast with the other years and areas. Zooplankton showed an unusually high abundance in the coastal area in October 1995. We conclude that the Tsushima Warm Current strongly influenced the South Sea of Korea in 1995 and created strong upwelling front bordering cold upwelled water in the coastal area around Narodo and Sorido Islands. It leads us that these physical structures introduce the favorable environment for the development of C. polykrikoides blooms. We suggest that C. polykrikoides has a bio-physical tolerance of high shear and stress and prefers frontal and upwelling relaxed areas as its habitat. We also find that nutrients were not supplied to the coastal area from the offshore where a low salinity water mass with high nutrients appeared around Jeju Island. Because the strong upwelling front protect the reach of offshore low saline water mass. The main source of nutrients was the upwelled water mass in the coastal area of Wando-Narodo-Sorido.

북동중국해 대륙붕 코아 퇴적물의 저서유공충 군집 특성과 퇴적환경 연구 (Benthic Foraminiferal Assemblage and Sedimentary Environment of Core Sediments from the Northern Shelf of the East China Sea)

  • 지난 최대빙하기 이후 형성된 대륙붕 퇴적체의 퇴적환경 변화를 연구하기 위해 동중국해 북부(북동중국해) 대륙붕에서 채취된 코아 퇴적물에 대한 탄소동위원소(AMS $^{14}C$) 연대측정과 함께 저서유공충 군집 변화를 분석하였다. 코아퇴적물은 최하부에서 약 16,000yr B.P.이며, 최상부 30cm에서는 약 3,000yr B.P.로 지난 최대빙하기에서 최근까지 순차적으로 발달한 퇴적충으로 구성된다. 코아 퇴적물에서 산출되는 저서유공충 분석 결과, 군집조성, 종수(S) 그리고 종다양도(H(S)) 등이 약 240cm를 기준으로 상부와 하부에서 뚜렷하게 구분된다. 퇴적물 깊이 240cm 이하의 하부 퇴적층(Zone I)에서는 Ammonia beccarii와 Elphidium clavatum (s.l.)이 우세하게 출현하며, 부유성 유공충 산출율(P/T ratio, 평균 22%)과 종수(평균 44), 다양도(평균 2.9) 등이 상대적으로 낮다. 이러한 저서유공층 군집 특성과 연대측정에 근거할 때 Zone I은 최대빙하기 이후 초기 해수면 상승 동안(16${\sim}$10ka) 수심 약 20${\sim}$30m 내외의 염하구 환경에서 퇴적된 것으로 해석된다. 한편 상부의 Zons II 퇴적층은 Eilohedra nipponica와 Bolivina robusta가 우점하며, 부유성 유공층 산출율(>40%)과 종수(>60) 둥이 크게 증가하는 경향을 보인다. Zone II는 유공충 군집 구성 특성에 따라 두 개의 구간(Zone IIa와 IIb)으로 세분되며, Zone IIa는 약 9,000 yr B.P. 이후 해수면이 빠르게 상승하는 현세 해침 동안 연구해역에 형성된 내-중대륙붕 환경에서, 그리고 Zone IIb는 약 6,000 yr B.P. 이후 해수면이 현재와 같은 수심 80m 내외의 외대륙붕 환경에서 퇴적된 것으로 해석된다. 결론적으로 코아 퇴적물의 저서유공충 군집 변화 특성은 최대빙하기 이후해수면 상승과 함께 형성된 대륙붕 퇴적체의 퇴적환경 변화를 잘 반영한다.

북한수산업(北韓水產業)의 현황(現況)과 전망(展望) (Present Status and Future Prospect on Fishing Industry in North Korea)

  • In recent years, the communication and the trade between the Republic of Korea(South Korea) and the Communist bloc has been activated. The simultaneous entrance of South Korea and North Korea to the United Nations will accelerate the political dialogue and also the trade which is indirectly carried out through a third country at present will be turned into direct way. Fisheries products are also treated as one of the important trade goods and there is a hopeful prospect that the amount of trade will be steeply increased in the near future. Furthermore, there is a great possibility of development up to the joint utilization of fishing grounds or the joint investment in fisheries projects. Concerning such points, since it is very much important to understand the present status of fisheries in North Korea, the author made a study on this field as requested by the Board of Unification, and report a part of the study here. The prominent character of North Korea's ruling sea area is that the sea is completely separated into two regions-the East Sea Region and the West Sea Region-and no continuity exists between them. The East Sea Region locates in the fringe of the biggest fishing ground of the world-the North Pacific Ocean-and very rich in resources not only warm water fishes but also cold water fishes. Especially alaska pollack, Theragra chalcogramma, is caught abundantly in this region. Contrary to that, fishing activity in the West Sea Region seems to be interrupted in winter. Even though some valuable warm water fishes-yellow corvenia, Pseudosciaena manchurica, and hair tail, Trichiurus lepturus, and so forth-come to this region from spring to summer along the coast line of this region for spawning, and vigorous fishing activity is carried out. But the most of them migrate southward to the neighboring waters of Cheju Island for wintering from autumn to winter, and so the fishing activity in this region seems to be interrupted greatly during winter. The total number of fishing boats in North Korea is estimated at 36 thousand and the rate of mechnization at about 70% compared with 99 thousand and 78% in South Korea. North Korea proclaimed an exclusive economic zone of 200 nautical miles in 1977. Specific character of this zone is setting of military boundary zone, up to 50 miles from the base line in the East Sea Region and also it covers whole region of the economic zone in the West Sea Region. Especially in the East Sea Region she set up a straight base line which can not be permissible by the international law. North Korea's statistics on fisheries product has not been announced officially on account of her unique isolationism, but it can be estimated through several data procured. At the first, the amount of fisheries products in the North Korea is reported as about 1.7 million ${\frac{M}{T}}$ by Fisheries Statistics which issued by the FAO in 1987, but a North Korea's trade organization announced the amount as 3.5 million ${\frac{M}{T}}$ in 1988. The former seems to be underestimated and the latter must be an exaggeration. According to Chikuni, who is a Japanese worker for FAO, prepared the unofficial statistics based on the evidence which he collected through the fineries development plan of the FAO/UNDP, and estimated the mean amount between 1982 and 1984 was 2.4 million ${\frac{M}{T}}$ or so. The Board of Unification estimated on the basis of various factors that the amount was 2.2 million ${\frac{M}{T}}$ or so in 1987 and in 1988. This seems to be the most reasonable. To solve the chronic lack of foreign currency, North Korea makes effort on the development of fisheries, and has even aimed fisheries product at 11 million ${\frac{M}{T}}$ by 1993, but this target looks unrealistic under the present circumstances. Somehow, we can exploit her extreme policy which has gone so far as to establish such an excessive and impractical target. Nevertheless this will be helpful to promote the joint development of the fishery activity between South Korea and North Korea.

The Physical Environments and Cochlodinium polykrikoides Bloom in the Sea near Naro-Do

  • The initiation of Cochlodinium polykrikoides blooming in the South Sea of Korea occurs in the sea near Naro-Do in late August. In this paper, the relationships of this annual occurrence with the environmental conditions are presented. In early summer, the winds in the sea near Naro-Do are southwesterly and the upwelling occurs in the near-shore area. The favorable winds to the upwelling are relaxed in August and the downwelling favorable northeasterly winds set in around late August. The change of wind direction causes the onshore transport of warm-and-fresh off-shore water into the sea near Naro-Do and a front between near-shore water and off·shore water is formed. Along the front, downwelling occurs and the environmental conditions for the diatom become unfavorable. When the typhoon and storm bring well-mixed East China Sea water into the sea near Naro-Do in September, the conditions for the dinoflagellates become unfavorable and blooming of C. polykrikoides disappears.

한국 남$\cdot$서해 및 동중국해$\cdot$북부해역에 출현하는 표층수온전선과 선망어장과의 관계 (Relationship between SST Fronts and Purse-seine Fishing Grounds in the South-West Sea of Korea and the Northern Area of the East China Sea)

  • 표층 수온전선과 어장형성과의 관계를 규명하기 위하여 1991년부터 1996년까지 한국선망 41개 선단의 어획자료와 인공위성에 의해 관측된 표층수온자료로부터 구한 표층수온전선과의 관계를 분석 정리한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 남해 및 동중국해 북부 해역의 선망어장은 주년 전선대 및 그 주변 대마 난류수 연변부에서 좋은 어장이 형성되고 있지만 전선역어장 외에 동계에는 제주도 서쪽 해역의 Water pocket내의 난류역어장, 제주도와 고도열도 사이 등고수온선이 심한 굴곡부내의 대마난류 주류역 어장, 동$\cdot$춘계 대마도 주변의 지형성 와류어장등으로 대별되고 한국 남서부 해역에도 하$\cdot$추계에 연안 전선대 외측과 황해저층냉수 사이의 황해난류역에 좋은 어장이 형성된다.

해양투기물질의 확산 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Characteristic of Diffusion of the Ocean Dumping Material)

  • In order to regulate the physical characteristics of an ocean dumping material in the south-eastern East Sea, the diffusion characteristics with the observation, hydraulic experiment and numerical experiment data are investigated. The main results are as follows; (1) Spying CTD observation result of the area of Jung in the East Sea, the ocean dumping area had influenced the Tsushima warm current of high temperature and salinity. Horizontal turbulent diffusivity is 1.913${\times}$10$^{7}$ $\textrm{cm}^2$/sec by drogue tracking. (2) From the experiment of settling, the initial settling velocity of each material is 1.0∼2.7 cm/sec according to the specific gravity and initial concentration. In the pycnocline, particles didn't settle under the pycnocline any more and accumulated. It is signified that calculation of the sedimentation rate of the ocean dumping material including of vertical diffustion must be regard the pycnocline in the ocean area have well-developed pycnocline. (3) Vertical turbulent diffusivity were 2.219${\times}$10$^{-8}$∼8,874${\times}$10$^{-4}$ $\textrm{cm}^2$/sec from the experiment of settling. And, the pycnocline influenced the vertical turbulent diffusivity. (4) From the result of diffusion simulation in the East Sea, the co-concentration line of 0.05 ppm and 0.1 ppm are limited at dumping area after 200 days. The constant concentration line of 0.01 ppm is distributed to the vicinity of Ulleungdo and Tokdo, but isn't distributed to the coastal area of East Sea and southern area of Jung in the East Sea.

2016년 동아시아 해역의 MOHID 지역 해양 순환 모델 검증 (The Validation of MOHID Regional Ocean Circulation Model around the East Asian Seas in 2016)

  • 본 연구에서는 3차원 순환 모델인 MOHID (MOdelo $HIDrodin{\hat{a}}mico$) 모델을 적용하여 한반도를 포함한 동아시아 해역의 2016년 해황 변동을 재현하였다. 재현 결과는 객관 분석장(EN4, ARMOR3D, AVISO, SIO 자료)과 현장 관측 자료(정선 해양 자료, 부이 자료)를 사용하여 검증하였다. 검증 결과 MOHID로 재현된 수온, 해면 고도 편차, 표층 유속 및 혼합 층 깊이 등의 전반적인 해황 구조가 동아시아 해역의 객관 분석 자료들과 유사하게 나타났다. 특히 연안의 부이 자료와 비교하였을 때, 표층 수온 및 해면 고도 편차의 상관 계수는 모두 0.8 이상이며, 표준화된 표준편차는 0.85-1.15의 값을 보였다. 그러나 여름철 동해의 수온 약층의 구조 및 황해와 남해의 강한 성층 현상 재현에 관한 추가적인 개선이 필요할 것으로 분석되었다.

파력발전 적지 기장 해역과 동해 해상부이 파랑관측치 비교 (Comparison of Observation Data between Local Waves in Gijang Sea and Donghae Buoy as Optimal Sites for the Wave Power Generation)

  • Gijang Sea is located on the southeastern coast of Korea. This study establishes a basic system to identify optimal sites for the wave power generation. To achieve this goal, the field measurements were made at the field site in front of Dong-am fishing port at Gijang. In addition, we analyzed the offshore wave data at the Donghae buoy operated by Korea Meteorological Administration(KMA) and compared the data with the wave characteristics in Gijang Sea. The main results were as follows. In winter, the wave direction in Gijang Sea ranged between east and south($90{\sim}180^{\circ}$). The main wave direction was east($90^{\circ}$). The Significant wave heights and periods were under 2 m and $5{\sim}15$ sec, respectively. A comparison of water depth and wave direction constitutes one(condition) of the important parameters for selecting the optimal site for the wave power generation.

동해 아극전선 해역의 수중음향환경 및 저주파 음파전달 양상 (Underwater Acoustic Environment and Low Frequency Acoustic Transmission in the Sub-Polar Front Region of the East Sea)

  • To investigate low frequency acoustic transmissions in the Sub-Polar Front(SPF) of the East Sea, numerical experiments are conducted with Range dependent Acoustic Model(RAM) using Circulation Research of the East Asian Marginal Seas(CREAMS) data and Autonomous Profiling Explorer(APEX)) data. Significant seasonal variations of sea water properties are existed across the Sub-Polar Front(SPF) region from the north and the south. The model results show that Transmission Loss(TL) decrease(about 20dB) with ideal front in the warm region whereas TL increase(about 25dB) with ideal front in the cold region. Regardless of season(both in summer and winter), when the sound source is located in the cold region of the SPF, the model results show weak TL, compared to the case of the source in the warm region(Maximum difference of TL reaches 28dB). This difference between the cases when the source is located in the cold region and the warm region, is accounted for from the different vertical profiles of sound speed in both regions.
