한국 동해 대륙붕 및 대륙사면에서의 다모류 분포 (Distribution Pattern of Polychaete Worms on the Continental Shelf and Slope of the East Sea (Southwestern Sea of Japan), Korea)

  • 본 연구는 동해의 대륙붕 및 대륙사면에서의 다모류 군집의 종 조성과 분포을 알 기 위해 수행되었다. 다모류의 채집은 1985년 4월에 1987년 4월, 10월의 3회의 항해 동안 이루어졌다. 채집된 다모류는 총 36과 112 종이었으며, 우점다모류는 Chaetozone setosa, Aglaophanus malmgrent Ampharete arctica Lerchellules horikoshii, Tharyx sp., 와 Magelona pacifica 등이었다. 본 조사지역의 다모류 군집에 대한 주요 기여종 들은 복반부의 냉수종들이었다. 특히 우점종들은 대륙붕에서부터 대륙사면 상부 혹은 중부에서 주로 분포하며, 특정 서식 깊이를 보였다. 전반적인 평균서식밀도를 300개체 / m$^2$이며, 송풍부도는 15종/0.2 m$^2$ 정도이다. 평균서믹밀도와 종풍부도지수는 600 m 나 그 이상의 수심에서 뚜렷한 변화를 보였다. 우점종의 평균서식밀도와 밀접한 상관 관계를 보인 물리적 환경은 수심, 수온, 니질함량, 평균입도 등이었다.

동해(東海) 서남해역(西南海域) 식물(植物) 플랑크톤의 현존량(現存量) 분포(分布)와 수온(水瑥)-염분(鹽分) 특성(慝性) (Distribution of Phytoplankton Standing Crop and the Associated T-S Properties in the Southwestern East Sea (Sea of Japan))

  • 동해 서남해역의 상부 125미터 수층을 대상으로 1981년 9월부터 1984년 10월에 걸 쳐 6회의 현장조사를 실시하여 841개의 해수시료를 구하였고, 이들의 수온, 염분, 무 기영향염류 및 식물플랑크톤 종별 현존량에 대하여 연구하였다. 도합 235종류의 식물플랑크톤을 동정하였으며, 이 가운데 Cylindrothecqa closterium 과 Nitzschia delicatissuma 등의 두 종이 최고의 공통종인 동시에 우점종으로 나타났다. 연구해역 상부혼합 층 시료 중의 식물플랑크톤 현존량과 수온, 염분 및 무기영양염류 등의 환경 요인과의 관계를 다중회귀 분석한 결과 봄에는 수온의 회귀상수가 염분에 비해 1.6-4.2배 컸으며, 반대로 가을에는 염분의 회귀상수가 수온에 비해 2.1-3.4배 크게 나타났다. T-S diagram 위에서 식물플랑크톤 현존량 분포가 봄에는 수온 변화에 민감 하였으며 가을에는 염분 변화에 민감하였고, 도식적으로 T-S diagram 상에 표시한 높 은 현존량 구역은 계절적으로 순환하는 양상을 나타내었다. 이는 연구해역의 식물플랑 크톤 현존량 분포가 여타가 여타의 환경요인보다 특별히 해양물리학적 특성과 긴밀한 관계가 있음을 의미한다.

저서어자원량의 음향추정에 있어서 해저 데드존의 보정에 관한 연구 (Dead Zone Correction for Abundance Estimation of Demersal Fish by Acoustic Method)

  • 저서어의 음향자원조사에 있어서 해저 데드존에 의한 어군량의 추정오차에 관하여 고찰하기 위하여, 북해도 분화만과 동중국해 에 서 행 한 음향자원조사의 에코적분데이터를 이용하여 그 정도를 알아보았다. 그리고 해저상의 에코파형의 형상으로부터, 어군분포 패턴을 고려하여 데드존 내에 어군이 존재할 경우 그 에코파형을 발산형, 평행형, 수렴형으로 정의한 데드존 보정법을 제안하고 이를 이용한 보정을 행하였다. 북해도 분화만 내에 회유하는 명태어군을 대상으로 데이터를 재평가한 결과 해저 직상의 1∼2m내의 SV가 2∼3dB, 자원량으로 약 2배 증가하였으며, 동중국해의 경우에 있어서는 해저 직상 1∼2m에 어군이 집중되어 분포하고 있는 경우 SV가 최대 17dB까지 증가하였으며, 이는 자원량으로 약 50배 증가한 것 과 같았다. 끝으로, 계량어군탐지기를 이용하여 저서어의 자원량을 추정할 경우에는 해저기준의 최적화와 정확한 해저기준을 이용한 적분구간 오프셋 설정의 최소화를 달성한 후에 해저의 에코에 마스크되어 있는 어군의 에코를 어떠한 방법을 통하여 보정하여, 지금까지 기술적 곤란으로 제약을 점차 줄여 나감으로서 저서어를 대상으로 한 음향자원 조사 방법이 좀 더 고도화하여, 실용화할 수 있도록 노력해야 할 것으로 생각된다.

Early Stages in Morphogenesis of the Shell of Crenella decussata (Bivalvia: Mytilidae)

  • This study examines the morphological features of larval and postlarval shells of the paedomorphic bivalve Crenella decussata Montagu, 1808 from the Sea of Japan. During the early morphogenesis of the shell of C. decussata the following characteristics appear: prodissoconch I -the anterior and posterior provincular teeth, a broad primary ligament pit located on the chondrophore; nepioconch - the anterior and posterior juvenile teeth,primary lateral teeth, fine commarginal and radial sculpture. Larvae of C. decussata distinctly differ from other mytilid larvae by a D-shaped shell, absence of umbo, astraight hinge margin, and homogeneous fine-grained sculpture without co-marginal lines of growth. These shell characters indicate lecithotrophic development of this species. Some morphostructures are revealed which might be used in crenellin taxonomy.

열대 및 아열대 SST에 관련된 동아시아 강우량의 경년 변동성 (Interannual variabilities of the East Asia precipitation associated with tropical and subtropical sea surface temperature)

  • The aim of the present study is to investigate the interannual variabilities of the East Asia monsoon rainfall associated with the global sea surface temperature anomaly(SSTA). For this study, the summer rainfall(from June to August) over the twenty-eight period of 1961-1988 were analyzed with being divided by nine-subregions over East Asia including Korea, China and Japan. From the analysis of the principal modes explaining the interannual variation, the interannual variabilities of summer rainfalls in South Japan and Korea are larger than those of the other subregions of the East Asia. There is a strong negative correlation between the summer rainfalls of south China and Korea. In this study, the relationship between the summer monsoon of each subregion and SSTs of the tropical NINO regions, of western Pacific warm pool, and of the subtropical ocean were investigated. The longitudinal sections of the lagged cross correlations of the summer rainfal1 anomaly in (a) Korea and (b) south China, and the monthly SSTA in the equatorial(averaged from 65 to 6N) Pacific were analyzed. The negative maximum correlation pattems of Korea''s stammer rainfal1 and SSTs over the eastern Pacific is transfered to positive maximum conrlation over central Pacific region with a biennial periodicity. In South China, the significant positive correlations are found at -12 month lag over the eastern Pacific and maximum negative correlation at 16 month lag over the central Pacific with the quasi-biennial oscillation. But the correlation coefficient reverses completely to that in Korea. In order to investigate the most prevailing interannual variability of rainfall related to the favored SSTA region, the lagged cross correlations between East Asia rainfall and SSTs over the moO regions(NINO 1+2(0-105, 90W-80W), NINO 3(5N-5S, 150W-90W), NINO 4(5N-5S, 160E-l50W) and the western Pacific worm pool (5N-5S, 120E-l60E) were analyzed. Among the lagged cross-correlation cycles in NINO regions, the maximum correlations for the negative lagged months prevail in NINO 1+2 and NINO 3, and the cross correlations for the positive lagged months NINO 4. It is noteworthy that correlation between the western Pacific warm pool SSTA and the monsoon rainfall in Korea and South China have the maximum value at negative 4 month lag. The evolution of the correlation between the East Asia monsoon rainfall and SSTA is linked to the equatorial convective cluster and related to northward propagating situation, and raising the possibility that the East Asia monsoon precipitation may be more fundamentally related to the interaction of intraseasonal oscillations and the sub-regional characteristics including the surface boundary conditions and the behavior of climatological air mass.

한국 강수량의 연 변동과 중국 및 일본 강수량과의 비교 연구 (Interannual Variations of the Precipitation in Korea and the Comparison with Those in China and Japan)

  • Examining the precipitation data collected during the period from 1960 to 1993, we found that Taegu Station represents an optimum station for explaining the interannual variations of the precipitation in Korea. Using the variations derived from Taegu, the secular trends of the precipitation in Korea have been studied. It was 삽so found that the interannual variations of summer monsoon precipitation are consistent with those of the annual precipitation. To explore the interannual variations of the summer monsoon precipitation, comparisons of the summer precipitation in Korea with that in China and Japan were made. The results of the empirical orthogonal function analysis showed that Korea, the Yangtze River and Huaihe River valley, and the south Japan are all located in the same climate system during summer. The detailed analysis was carried out on the comparison of the summer precipitation in Korea with that in the eastern part of the the mainland China. We found that the correlation pattern is similar to the East Asia/pacific pattern. The probable effects of the sea surface temperature on the precipitation in Korea were also discussed. 원자력 발전소 부지에 대한 확률론적 지진해일 재해도 분석의 적용 (Application of Probabilistic Tsunami Hazard Analysis for the Nuclear Power Plant Site)

  • The tsunami hazard analysis is performed for testing the application of probabilistic tsunami hazard analysis to nuclear power plant sites in the Korean Peninsula. Tsunami hazard analysis is based on the seismic hazard analysis. Probabilistic method is adopted for considering the uncertainties caused by insufficient information of tsunamigenic fault sources. Logic tree approach is used. Uljin nuclear power plant (NPP) site is selected for this study. The tsunamigenic fault sources in the western part of Japan (East Sea) are used for this study because those are well known fault sources in the East Sea and had several records of tsunami hazards. We have performed numerical simulations of tsunami propagation for those fault sources in the previous study. Therefore we use the wave parameters obtained from the previous study. We follow the method of probabilistic tsunami hazard analysis (PTHA) suggested by the atomic energy society of Japan (AESJ). Annual exceedance probabilities for wave height level are calculated for the site by using the information about the recurrence interval, the magnitude range, the wave parameters, the truncation of lognormal distribution of wave height, and the deviation based on the difference between simulation and record. Effects of each parameters on tsunami hazard are tested by the sensitivity analysis, which shows that the recurrence interval and the deviation dominantly affects the annual exceedance probability and the wave heigh level, respectively.

한반도 남부의 지진파 토모그라피 연구 (Application of Seismic Tomography to the Region in and Near Southern Korean Peninsula)

  • 한반도 남부 및 인근 지역에 대하여 3차원 토모그래피 연구를 수행하였다. 먼저 1차 연구지역은 지진계의 분포가 비교적 조밀하게 설치되어 있는 한반도 남동부지역으로 연구결과에 의하면 경상분지 지역의 지표에서는 퇴적층 지역에서는 상대적으로 저속도가 나타나며 7.5km 깊이에서는 상대적 고속도 분포가 넓게 나타났다. 이는 경상분지 내에서 화성기원의 암석들이 넓게 분포하는 것으로 보인다. 양산단층대 하부 약 $20{\sim}30km$ 깊이에서는 저속도 분포가 나타나는데 이는 양산단층대의 발달과 관계가 있을 것으로 여겨진다. 한반도 및 일본에서 관측된 자료를 이용하여 한반도 및 동해지역의 연구지역에서의 연구결과에 의하면 일본 동부에서 시작된 섭입대는 동해지역에까지 연장되는 것으로 분석되었다.

Ferrying to the Other Shore: Silla Seafarers and Avalokiteśvara Faith in the East Asian Maritime World

  • Historically, commerce was a significant factor in the proliferation and development of Buddhism, which is especially manifest in the cult of the bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara. Iconographic and textual evidence testifies that maritime trade on the Indian Ocean played a fundamental role in the formation of Avalokiteśvara worship. The sea was also a major conduit through which elements of the Avalokiteśvara faith were transmitted from India through China to Korea and Japan, the easternmost ends of the Silk Road. These elements include Avalokiteśvara's role as a maritime savior, oceanic symbolism, and the concept of the bodhisattva's worldly abode, Potalaka. Cultic sites dedicated to maritime safety were established at important transport hubs in East Asia. Due to China's strategic location on the Silk Road, as well as its cultural influence, the most important cultic sites were founded in China, first on the Shandong Peninsula, then in the southern Jiangnan region, in present-day Zhejiang Province. Especially notable is the role that Korean seafarers played in this process by assisting monks in search of the Dharma, establishing temples, and transmitting religious beliefs across the ocean. The present study focuses on the role that maritime figures played in the cultural exchanges between Korea, China, and Japan examined through Avalokiteśvara faith. By this, it aims to demonstrate how Korean seafarers inherited and continued the traditional relationship between commerce and Buddhism, while extending the Maritime Silk Road to the "East Asian Mediterranean."
