  • I compared role gratification and role strain of American and East Asian married women graduate students taking multiple roles of study, assistant work in the school, family care, and household management, etc. The American students experienced more strain overall than their East Asian counterparts. Perceived gratification and strain were strongly related to time demands for the American group and to economic conditions for East Asian group. The more nontraditional the gender-role altitudes of the East Asian students, the less strain they experienced. More than half of the East Asian students perceived that their own gender roles, but not those of their husbands had changed since they came to the United States. Perceived gender-role change of the husband was strongly related to role strain for the East Asian students.

  • This study aims to develop a scale to capture various components of the family value and apply for comparative study of the family value of East Asian countries. Through literature review and experts consults, 27 preliminary questions of the East Asian family value were developed. A total of 3,000 people of East Asia countries(Korea, China, Japan) aged 20~59 were responded to the questionnaire. For validating the family scale developed, an explanatory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis and reliability analysis were conducted. The results were as follows. Two of the 27 questions were deleted because those questions were found to have high correlation with other questions. Through the exploratory factor analysis 5 factors composed of 15 items -post-modern family value, traditional family value, confucian family value, instrumental family value and gender equality family value-were extracted and confirmed the factors with confirmatory factor analysis and reliability analysis. The results revealed that the family value scale was appropriate for measuring various family values in East Asian countries and would contribute to the development of Asian family theory. However, this scale can not cover all the family values and further studies would be needed to confirm the validity of the family value scale.

First, he served as a royal physician at the end of the Joseon Dynasty, or was an oriental medical doctor with outstanding medical skills during the family service. Second, he is an East Asian medicine doctor who established a school for Korean medicine education or conducted various academic activities. Third, he is an East Asian medical doctor who worked hard to lead a group of East Asian medical doctors by organizing Korean medical doctors. Looking at the reality of the oppression of ethnic medicine committed by the Japanese colonial government, they continued to seek a way to live in national medicine, which played a major role in continuing the existence of Korean medicine without destroying it. In this paper, we analyzed the 13 Korean medical doctors introduced in the "Photo Insertion" and examined the activities of modern and contemporary East Asian medical doctors.
