배터리 교체식 전기차의 배터리 재고-차량 대기시간 통합모형 (Integrated Model of Inventory and Waiting Time in EV Battery Switching Stations)

  • Battery switching EVs are considered to be a promising alternative to overcome long charging time problems in the EV adoption. The purpose of this research is to develop integrated model for battery inventory and battery switching waiting times. Due to complexity of exact analysis, a practical approximation method is developed, which provides close results to exact values. Numerical experiments show that there exist trade-offs between the battery inventory level and the number of switching stations. The proposed model can be applied to evaluate and select the minimum cost alternative in implementing the battery switching stations.

  • 본 논문은 전기자동차 (Electric Vehicles, EVs) 및 플러그인 하이브리드 자동차 (Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles, PHEVs)용 리튬 이온 (Li-Ion) 배터리 충전을 위한 3.3 kW급 차량 탑재형 (On-Board) 충전기 하드웨어의 설계 및 제작에 대하여 기술한다. 차량 실장 특성을 고려하여 부하직렬공진형 dc-dc 컨버터를 적용하고, 80-130kHz의 고주파 스위칭 및 ZVS (Sero-Voltage Switching) 기법을 통해 수동소자의 크기를 최적화하여 5.84L, 5.8kg의 저부피, 경량을 달성한다. 전자부하를 대상으로 정전류 (Continuous Current, CC) 및 정전압 (Continuous Voltage, CV) 제어를 수행하여 93%의 고효율 획득 및 성능을 검증한다.

Conversion-Alloying Anode Materials for Na-ion Batteries: Recent Progress, Challenges, and Perspective for the Future

  • Rechargeable lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) have been rapidly expanding from IT based applications to uses in electric vehicles (EVs), smart grids, and energy storage systems (ESSs), all of which require low cost, high energy density and high power density. The increasing demand for LIBs has resulted in increasing price of the lithium source, which is a major obstacle to wider application. To date, the possible depletion of lithium resources has become relevant, giving rise to the interest in Na-ion batteries (NIBs) as promising alternatives to LIBs. A lot of transition metal compounds based on conversion-alloying reaction have been extensively investigated to meet the requirement for the anodes with high energy density and long life-time. In-depth understanding the electrochemical reaction mechanisms for the transition metal compounds makes it promising negative anode for NIBs and provides feasible strategy for low cost and large-scale energy storage system in the near future.

Performance Evaluation of a Variable Frequency Heat Pump Air Conditioning System for Electric Bus

  • This study presents a simulation model of a heat pump air conditioning system with a variable capacity compressor and variable speeds fans for electric bus. An experimental sample has been developed in order to check results from the model. Effects on system performance of such working conditions as compressor speed, evaporator fans speeds and the condenser fans speeds have been simulated by means of developed model. The results show that the three speeds can be adjusted simultaneously according to actual working condition so that the AC system can operate under the optimum state which the control objects want to achieve. It would be a good and simple solution to extend the driving ranges of EVs because of the highest efficiency and the lowest energy consumption of AC system.

On-board Capacity Estimation of Lithium-ion Batteries Based on Charge Phase

  • Capacity estimation is indispensable to ensure the safety and reliability of lithium-ion batteries in electric vehicles (EVs). Therefore it's quite necessary to develop an effective on-board capacity estimation technique. Based on experiment, it's found constant current charge time (CCCT) and the capacity have a strong linear correlation when the capacity is more than 80% of its rated value, during which the battery is considered healthy. Thus this paper employs CCCT as the health indicator for on-board capacity estimation by means of relevance vector machine (RVM). As the ambient temperature (AT) dramatically influences the capacity fading, it is added to RVM input to improve the estimation accuracy. The estimations are compared with that via back-propagation neural network (BPNN). The experiments demonstrate that CCCT with AT is highly qualified for on-board capacity estimation of lithium-ion batteries via RVM as the results are more precise and reliable than that calculated by BPNN.

  • In this paper, a verification method and model for a PCI-Express device are described. PCI-Express technology is one of new I/O interconnection technologies which is intended to replace conventional PCI based technology, and is introduced by PCI-SIG in 2002. For a fast prototyping, a verification suite which includes a behavioral model and stimuli is needed before actual design is finished. And also it should be simple in structure and accurate enough to verify the design. In this paper, an Early Verification Suite (EVS) which complies with PCI-Express protocol is developed and tested.

  • As the number of electric vehicles (EV) increases, there is an increasing interest in the post-vehicle application of the EV batteries. For the second use application of EV batteries, the state of health (SOH) at the end of automotive service has to be evaluated differently from the automotive perspective. It will be helpful to consider the driving conditions of EVs in understanding the performance deterioration trend of the battery. In this paper, we acquired the battery status information in real time during driving and compared the characteristics by the driving routes. The SOH from the BMS can be rescaled to percentage ratio to give a more general idea about the performance degradation.

  • This paper proposes a novel control method to minimize conduction losses of dual active bridge (DAB) converters for on-board chargers of electric vehicles (EVs). In the control method, two variables are regulated, which are the phase-shift angle between the primary and secondary full bridges and the switching frequency. From time-domain analysis, an optimal phase-shift angle is derived to achieve the minimum RMS value of the transformer current. The proposed method was implemented for a 3.6-kW SiC-based prototype to validate its effectiveness. A high efficiency over 97.3% has been achieved for a wide output voltage range.

  • Lithium-ion batteries have been used in energy storage systems (ESS), electric vehicles (EVs), etc. due to their high safety, fast charging and long lifecycle. This paper aims to improve the convenience of users by changing the wired battery stack used in the battery pack, wirelessly using RFID, reducing the internal volume of the battery pack, reducing the size of the battery pack. In this paper, we propose a battery management system which can provide the flexibility of battery pack expansion and maintenance by using lithium ion battery, battery management system (BMS) and wireless communication for light weight of 1Kw small battery pack. Also, by flexibly arranging the cell layout inside the battery pack and designing to reduce the size of the outer shape of the battery pack.
