This study was performed to examine the possibility of increasing the level of furosemide permeation from the ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) matrix through the skin by incorporating various enhancers in the EVA matrix. The effects of the enhancers on the level of furosemide permeation through the skin were evaluated using Franz diffusion cells with intact excised rat skins. The enhancers examined were the fatty acids (saturated, unsaturated), the pyrrolidones, the propylene glycol derivatives, the glycerides and the non-ionic surfactants. Among the enhancers used, polyoxyethylene-2-oleyl ether (a non-ionic surfactant) showed the best enhancement. The polyoxyethylene 2-oleyl ether as a permeation enhancer could be used for development of furosemide-EVA transdermal matrix system.

The effects of silica-alumina type catalysts addition on the thermal decomposition of ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) resin have been studied in a thermal analyzer (TGA, DSC) and a small batch reactor. The silica-alumina type compounds tested were kaolinite, bentonite, perlite, activated clay and clay. As the results of TGA experiments, pyrolysis starting temperature for EVA resin had the 1st pyrolysis temperature range of 300~$400^{\circ}C$ and the 2nd pyrolysis temperature range of 425~$525^{\circ}C$. The silica-alumina type catalysts did not affect the pyrolysis rate in EVA pyrolysis reaction. In the DSC experiments, addition of kaolinite and bentonite catalysts reduced the heat of fusion and heat of 2nd pyrolysis reaction. In the batch system experiments, the mixing of silica-alumina type catalysts enhanced the yield of fuel oil, and affected to the distribution of carbon numbers. In the silica-alumina type inorganic material used in this experiments, bentonite was the most effective from the pyrolysis heat, yields, and the characteristics of fuel oil.
Recently, various clothing items are being developed using 3D printing technology, but comfort has become an issue while wearing them for a long time. Therefore, this study researched on how the temperature and humidity of the devices developed by 3D printing change depending on the material combination. Five types of material combinations (EVA foam, TPU density 10%, TPU density 30%, EVA foam+TPU density 10%, and EVA foam+TPU density 30%) were selected as variables, and the experiment was conducted for two different cases with and without a cover. All the ten types of samples were placed on the hot plate set at 36℃, and the surface temperature and humidity were measured at three different points for 10 minutes. As a result, the case with only TPU showed the greatest temperature change while the case with 100% EVA foam showed the least temperature change. The humidity of the surface layer gradually decreased with time for 100% EVA foam. For the case with TPU materials, the moisture was transferred to the surface layer at first, thereby increasing the humidity but then dropped significantly. Meanwhile, the cases with the cover on showed similar tendencies of change in both temperature and humidity where the overall temperature and humidity delivery were slow.
The electrical properties due to mixture ratio of linear low density polyethylene(LLDPE) and ethylene vinyl acetate(EVA) films are studied. An experimental specimen is selected as LLDPE/EVA of thickness 200${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ produced by mixture ratio of 50 : 50, 60 : 40, 70 : 30 and 80 : 2 wt%. In temperature range from $25^{\circ}C$ to 12$0^{\circ}C$, the measurement of volume resistivity using a highmegohm meter is performed within 10 minutes since each voltage of DC 100 V, 250 V, 500 V and 1000 V is applied, according to the step voltage method. From FT-IR spectrum for an analysis of physical properties, it can be confirmed that LLDPE blended with EVA shows an absence of carbonyl groups(1735 $cm^{-1}$, C=0) and ether groups(1242 $cm^{-1}$, C-O). The peak of LLDPE and EVA made of mixture ratio of 70 : 30 at 2$\theta$ =21.4$^{\circ}$ in the results of XRD is higher than the others. In the experiment for volume resistivity characteristics in order to investigate the electrical properties of specimen, it is confirmed that volume resistivity is decreased with the increase of the molecular motion and temperature.
The effects of calcium type catalysts addition on the thermal decomposition of low density polyethylene (LDPE) and ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) resin have been studied in a thermal analyze. (TGA, DSC) and a small batch reactor. The calcium type catalysts tested were calcinated dolomite, lime, and calcinated oyster shell. As the results of TGA experiments, pyrolysis starting temperature for LDPE varied in the range of $330{\sim}360^{\circ}C$ according to heating rate, but EVA resin had the 1st pyrolysis temperature range of $300{\sim}400^{\circ}C$ and the 2nd pyrolysis temperature range of $425{\sim}525^{\circ}C$. The calcinated dolomite enhanced the pyrolysis rate in LDPE pyrolysis reaction, while the calcium type catalysts reduced the pyrolysis rate in EVA pyrolysis reaction. In the DSC experiments, addition of calcium type catalysts reduced the melting point, but did not affect to the heat of fusin. Calcinated dolomite reduced 20% of the heat of pyrolysis reaction. In the batch system experiments, the mixing of calcinated dolomite and lime enhanced the yield of fuel oil, but did not affect to the distribution of carbon numbers.
The purpose of this study is to make clear the durability of the polymer films formed in the autoclaved polymer-modified mortars and concretes. The polymer films prepared with polymer dispersions such as a styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) latex, a poly (ethylene-vinyl acetate)(EVA) emulsion and a polyacrylic ester (PAE) emulsion for polymeric admixtures are exposed to autoclaving at 18$0^{\circ}C$ in temperature and 1.01 MPa in vapor pressure, and subjected to tensile test and infrared spectroscopy. The durability of the polymer films is evaluated from the application of autoclaving to the polymer films under saturated Ca(OH)$_2$ solution immersion causes no degradation for SBR films and a significant degradation due to the saponification of the polymers for EVA and PAE films. Accordingly, in the application of autoclaving to polymer-modified mortars and concretes, it is suggested that SBR-modified mortars and concretes are hardly degraded but EVA- and PAE-modified mortars and concretes are markedly degraded by the saponification of the polymers.
Polymer cement slurry (PCS) is made from organic polymer dispersion and cement has good adhesion to steel, waterproofness and acid resistance due to being of polymer films formed in cement slurry. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the bond strength of coated rebar by polymer cement slurry made of EVA and ultra high-early strength cement. The test pieces are prepared with EVA polymer dispersion and ultra high-early strength cement having four types of polymer-cement ratios, four types of coating thicknesses and four curing ages, and tested for the bond strength test. From the test results, in general, bond strength of PCS-coated rebar is better than that of uncoated rebar and epoxy-coated rebar. It is also high bond strength at curing ages of 7-day, and coating thicknesses of $75{\mu}m$ and $100{\mu}m$. The maximum bond strength of PCS-coated rebar with ultra high-early strength cement and EVA at polymer-cement ratio of 80%, and coating thickness of $100{\mu}m$ is about 1.32 and 1.38 times respectively, the strength of uncoated rebar and epoxy-coated rebar. It is apparent that the curing age, coating thickness, type of polymer and cement are very important factors to improve the bond strength of PCS-coated rebar to cement concrete. We can have basic information that PCS-coated rebar with polymer-cement ratio of 80% or 100% and coating thickness of $100{\mu}m$ at curing age of 1-day can replace epoxy-coated rebar.

The aim of the present work is to study the effect of gallium addition to HZSM-5 on recovery rates of gaseous and liquid products and carbon number distribution in the catalytic cracking of a polymer mixture, LDPE, LLDPE, and EVA copolymer, with a composition similar to that found in real agricultural film wastes. Ga/HZSM-5 system produced a larger amount of aromatic hydrocarbons than HZSM-5. The yield of aromatic compound in vapor phase contact was higher than that in liquid phase contact. The yield of aromatic compound increased with the amount of catalyst and with the reaction temperature of catalyst bed. The effect of gallium addition on the carbon number distribution was not great.
The purpose of this study was to analyze impact absorption function of midsole in cushioned marathon shoes. The foot is made up of a complex interaction of bones, ligaments, and muscles. These structures help the foot alternate between being a mobile, flexible adaptor and a stable rigid lever. The foot is broken down into two functional parts, the forefoot and the rearfoot. Cushioned marathon shoes for high arches have generous cushioning for efficient and high-mileage runners. Cushioned marathon shoes are made for feet that have high arches or no excessive motion and don't roll inward or roll outward. This condition is known as underpronation. Especially, Cushioned marathon shoes are designed to reduce shock and generally have the softest (or most cushioned) midsoles and the least medial support. They are usually built on a semicurved or curved last to encourage foot motion, which is helpful for underpronators (who have rigid, immobile feet). Cushioning marathon shoes recommended for the high-arched runner, whose foot may roll outward (supinate) rather than the natural slight inward roll, or whose feet may be relatively rigid. Cushioning shoes emphasize flexibility and usually are built on a curved or semicurved last to encourage a normal motion of the foot. Cushioning shoes usually offer no medial (inner foot) support. Cushioned marathon shoes have the single-density midsole, which is stable and relatively firm for a cushioned shoe, stays the same. But the forefoot is more rounded, and the rearfoot now includes a new and supportive rearfoot cradle. A foam midsole, perhaps with layers of different densities, to provide cushioning and shock absorption. EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate) and PU (polyurethane), the materials from which these foams usually are made. EVA is slightly softer than PU. EVA and PU may be layered together in a shoe, or a shoe may have more than one density of EVA.

This experiment was carried out to investigate the effects of different covering materials and methods on heat insulation of a plastic greenhouse, growth and yield of tomato. Night air and soil temperatures in a double-layer greenhouse with external multifold thermal cover (MTC; eight-ounce cassimere+four-fold polyform+double-fold non-woven fabric+single-fold polypropylene covering were about $1^{\circ}C$ lower than in that with internal MTC covering, but about $3^{\circ}C$ higher than in that with an EVA film screen. Tomato yield in the external MTC covering increased by $2\%\;and\;19\%$ as compared to that in the internal MTC covering and the non-covering of MTC, respectively, due to its high light transmission and insulation effect. Night air temperatures in a double-layer greenhouse with external MTC covering and with thermal screen (polyester plus aluminium) were $2.2^{\circ}C\;and\;4.5^{\circ}C$ higher than those in a double-layer greenhouse with an external MTC covering and in a double-layer greenhouse equipped an EVA film screen, respectively. Tomato yield in the treatment with external MTC covering and a thermal screen was $18\%\;and\;37\%$ greater than that in the external MTC covering and in an EVA film screen, respectively. Results indicate that tomato could be grown without heating or with minimal heating in a double-layer greenhouse covered with MTC and a thermal screen during the winter season in sourthern regions of Korea.
