With the rapid development of electric vehicles (EVs) industry, EV charging service becomes more and more important. Especially, in the case of suddenly drop of air temperature or open holidays that large-scale EVs seeking for charging devices (CDs) in a short time. In such scenario, inefficient EV charging scheduling algorithm might lead to a bad service quality, for example, long queueing times for EVs and unreasonable idling time for charging devices. To deal with this issue, this paper propose a Deep-Q-Network (DQN) based two-stage scheduling method for the large-scale EVs charging service. Fine-grained states with two delicate neural networks are proposed to optimize the sequencing of EVs and charging station (CS) arrangement. Two efficient algorithms are presented to obtain the optimal EVs charging scheduling scheme for large-scale EVs charging demand. Three case studies show the superiority of our proposal, in terms of a high service quality (minimized average queuing time of EVs and maximized charging performance at both EV and CS sides) and achieve greater scheduling efficiency. The code and data are available at THE CODE AND DATA.
Driving range is one of the main problems in development of Electric Vehicles(EV). The Regenerative. braking system is required to overcome the problem, which converts kinetic energy of the vehicle during braking into electrical energy. This paper discusses the braking system of EV and Robust design especially developed to maximize energy recovery and to optimize braking performance. This is promised to be applied to the design of elements for EV braking system.
The phase-shifted, full-bridge (PSFB) DC-DC converter is widely used in electric vehicles (EVs) to charge a low-voltage (12 V) battery from a high-voltage battery. A Photovoltaic (PV) module-integrated PSFB converter is proposed for the EV power conversion system. The converter is useful because solar energy can be utilized to extend the driving range. The buck converter circuit is simply realized by adding one switch to the conventional PSFB converter's secondary side. For the inductor and diode, the existing components in the PSFB converter are shared. The proposed converter can charge a low-voltage battery from the PV module with maximum power point tracking. In addition, the two power sources can be used simultaneously, and efficiency is increased by reducing the circulating current, which is a problem for the conventional PSFB converter.
Diseases caused by air pollution and abnormal climate are occurring worldwide due to global warming. Accordingly, the international community has established a strategy to respond to climate change, and major countries have shifted their economic policies to eco-friendly industries. In this study, we investigate the current status of the renewable energy industry and that of responses to carbon neutrality and PM2.5 (air pollution) in the three major Northeast Asian countries of Japan, Korea, and China, covering changes in the corporate perceptions of Environment, Social, Governance and RE100. In more detail, the three major Northeast Asian countries, referred to as the climate villains in the international community, explain the importance of successful entry into the electric vehicles (EV) industry for a rapid transition to an eco-friendly industry. Moreover, we study the application of lightweight materials for vehicles to improve mileage in the EV industry and technical problems to be solved in the future.
As the spreading speed of electric vehicles increases rapidly, those are expected to be able to use them as flexible resources in the power system beyond the concern for the supply of its charging power. Especially when the Renewable Energy sources (RES) which have no intrinsic control capability have replaced the synchronous generators more and more, the power system needs to secure the additional frequency control resources to ensure its stability. However, the feasibility of using electric vehicles as the frequency control resources should be analyzed from the perspective of the power system operation and it requires the existing simulation frameworks for the power system. Therefore, this paper proposes the grid connected modeling of the primary frequency control provided by electric vehicles which can be integrated into the existing power system model. In addition, the proposed model is implemented considering technical performances constrained by the characteristics of the Vehicle-Grid Integration (VGI) system so that the simulation results can be accepted by the power utilities operating the power system conservatively.
This paper discusses the energy consumption for a mid-size electric vehicle(EV) under various conditions. In order to analyze which driving style is more efficient in terms of the system of the EV, we develop the electric vehicle model and apply several types of speed profiles such as different steady speeds, acceleration/deceleration, and a real world driving cycle including the elevation profile obtained from a GPS device. The results show that the energy consumption of the EV is affected by the operating efficiency of components when driving at low speed, while it depends on required power at wheels when driving at high speed. Also this paper investigates the effect of the elevation of a road and the rate of electrical braking on the energy consumption as well as the fuel economy of a conventional vehicle model under the same conditions.
