Development of Single Board Computer (SBC) for Nano/Pico Small Satellites (초소형위성용 단일보드 탑재컴퓨터의 개발)

  • Flight and Qualification Models of Single Board Computer (SBC), called On-Board Computer (OBC), for HAUSAT-l picosatellite, which is scheduled to launch on September, 2004 by Russian "Dnepr" launch vehicle, have been developed. The OBC of HAUSAT-1 has been designed with some improved features compared to other picosatellites. A multifunctional controller and up-to-date SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface) and 1-Wire interface are implemented to simplify the harness routing and to minimize the mass and size of OBC. The improved fault-tolerant architecture design methodology is incorporated in the HAUSAT-1 OBC to protect against space radiation environment. The functions of the OBC were fully tested and verified by the Electrical Test Bed (ETB) model. This paper is also addressing the environmental test results, such as random vibration and thermal vacuum tests.

  • The major objective of this study is to develop and verify the KAUSAT-5 based on the modular 3U CubeSat standard platform. In the mechanical system design of a 3U standard platform, subsystem and micro equipment functions/performance should be integrated and miniaturized on micro-sized PCBs and electrical capability was maximized to accommodate multiple payloads. KAUSAT-5 is 3U-sized Cubesat which will be operated in Low Earth Orbit(LEO), which implements mainly two scientific missions; one is to observe the Earth through infrared camera and the other is to measure space radiation with a Geiger Muller tube. An additional mission is to verify the equipment(device) such as VSCMG and fuzzy logic-based MPPT internally developed. The results of ETB, qualification and acceptance level environmental tests were shown to verify standard platform and KAUSAT-5 Cubesat.

Virulence Genes of Staphylococcus aureus Isolated in Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do Areas (대구광역시와 경상북도 지역에서 분리한 Staphylococcus aureus 병독소 유전자의 분자적 연구)

  • Nine types of staphylococcal enterotoxin (SE) genes (sea~see, seg~sej), 3 types of virulence genes (eta, etb, tst), mecA and 16S rRNA as internal positive control were detected from 187 clinical MRSA (methicillin resistance Staphylococcus aureus) strains isolated from a variety hospitalized patients in Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do areas using the multiplex PCR. The frequency of the S. aureus strains harboring recently reported SE genes (seg~sej) were found to be very high (65.9%) and greater than that of the strains harboring classical SE (sea~see) genes (47.8%) as previously established. Taking into account that the newly described pairs form SE genes (i.e., sec+seg+sei, seg+sei) were many, in the other hand, single form SE genes (i.e., seg, seh, sei and sej) were rarely detected. The S. aureus with pairs form enterotoxigenic genes become more potentially toxigenic strains. Furthermore, this work indicated a systematic association between the seg and sei genes and their high incidence among the S, aureus strains, which suggests that these two SE's could be an important phylogenetic link among the staphylococcal enterotoxins.

Antimelanogenic and antioxidant effects of trimethoxybenzene derivatives: methyl 3,4,5-trimethoxybenzoate, ethyl 3,4,5-trimethoxybenzoate, methyl 3,4,5-trimethoxycinnamate, and ethyl 3,4,5-trimethoxycinnamate

  • In this study, derivatives of trimethoxybenzene were investigated as inhibitors of melanogenesis. We examined the effects of methyl 3,4,5-trimethoxybenzoate (MTB), ethyl 3,4,5-trimethoxybenzoate (ETB), methyl 3,4,5-trimethoxycinnamate (MTC), and ethyl 3,4,5-trimethoxycinnamate (ETC). First, the inhibitory effects of these agents on melanin production were evaluated using α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH)-stimulated B16F10 melanoma cells. We found that all derivatives decreased α-MSH-induced melanin production in B16F10 melanoma cells; ETC showed a strong inhibitory effect at half of the concentration of the other derivatives. As tyrosinase is considered a key enzyme of melanogenesis, we also examined whether the derivatives inhibited tyrosinase activity. MTC and ETC reduced mushroom tyrosinase activity and expression levels of α-MSH-induced B16F10 cellular tyrosinase protein. Inhibitory effects of all derivatives on α-MSH-induced B16F10 cellular tyrosinase activity were shown in a dose-dependent manner. Additionally, the derivatives were exposed to diphenylpicrylhydrazyl free radical to examine their antioxidant characteristics. All derivatives showed considerable antioxidant activity, which was 2-fold higher than that of arbutin. In conclusion, the trimethoxybenzene derivatives, including MTB, ETB, MTC, and ETC exerted anti-melanogenic and antioxidant effects on α-MSH-stimulated melanogenesis, demonstrating their potential for use as novel hypopigmenting agents and antioxidants.

  • KOMPSAT-2 needs fine accuracy attitude control when it is operated in Science mode. Reaction Wheel is a necessary part of fine controlling the attitude of satellite. The reaction Wheel Assembly(RWA) is a device which provides reaction torque for attitude-control of spacecraft. It consists of an electric motor, a rotating flywheel, motor control device electrics, commutation electronics and associated power converters. This document identifies what activities to be carried out to integrate the RW#1 for ETB tests.

Detection of cockroach (Blattella germanica L.) specific allergens by monoclonal antibodies (단크론 항체법을 이용한 바퀴의 특이항원 분리)

  • Cockroach antigen have been known as a cause of allergic disease. German ockroach(Blattella germanica L.) was chosen because it has the highest distribution range and poulation density. To identify the common and specific antigens of adult and larval stage of german cockroach, we made monoclonal antibodies which were confirmen by SDS-PAGE and EITB. Anti-B. germanica antibody producing hybridomas were 24 among the total 960wells. Only 4 hybridomas did not have cross reaction to other species of cockroach and hluse dust mites(Dermatophagodies farinae and D. pteronyssius). SDS-PAGE revealed about 20 bands from 90Kd to 15Kd to 15Kd. ETB showed specific antigens a6 60, 72 and 82Kd which were experimented by the culture supernatant of 4 selected hybridomas. Especially 60Kd coincided with a band of immunized mouse sera.

PCR Detection of Virulence Genes Encoding Coagulase and Other Toxins among Clinical Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus Isolates (Methicillin 내성 S. aureus 임상분리균주의 Coagulase와 주요 독소 유전자의 PCR 검출)

  • To characterize the genotypic traits of clinical methicillin-resistant Staphyiococus aureus (MRSA) isolates (n=49), major virulence-associated genes were detected by using PCR-based methods. All the MRSA isolates possessed coagulase gene and showed four polymorphism types [500bp ($6{\%}$),580bp ($27{\%}$), 660bp ($65{\%}$) and 740bp ($2{\%}$)] due to variable numbers of tandem repeats present within the gene. The four or five different loci of hemolysin gene family were dominant in the MRSA isolates,25 of which($51{\%}$) possessed a combination of hla / hlb / hld/ hlg / hlg-2 genes as the most prevalent type. The prevalence of enterotoxin genes was varied among the MRSA isolates. sea and seb genes were detected from all the MRSA isolates. But sei, tsst-1, seg, sec, and seh genes were detected from 31 ($63{\%}$), 16 ($33{\%}$), 14 ($29{\%}$), 8 ($16{\%}$), and 5 ($10{\%}$) isolates, respectively. sed and sej genes were detected from 1 ($2{\%}$) isolate, respectively. see, eta, and etb genes were not detected at all. sea / seb genes were co-detected from 11 ($23{\%}$) isolates, sea / seb / sei genes from 9 ($19{\%}$) isolates, and sea / seb / seg / sei / tsst-1 genes from 5 ($10{\%}$) isolates. Other genes were co-detected with below $10{\%}$ frequencies.

Molecular Characterization of Clinically Isolated Staphylococcus aureus (인천지역에서 분리된 황색포도상구균의 분자생물학적 특성 분석)

  • Staphylococcus aureus is one of the most significant pathogens and a causative agents of nosocomial infections. The emergence of methicillin resistant S. aureus (MRSA), in particular, has become a major clinical and epidemiological problems worldwide. In this study, we analyzed the toxin genes and investigated molecular epidemiological characteristics of S. aureus isolated from stools of diarrheal patients at the hospitals in Incheon. Of the 609 strains from 2,281 specimens, 173 strains retained enterotoxin; 68 isolates (39.30%), 100 isolates (57.80%) were classified to A and C type, respectively. In the antibiotic susceptibility, all of enterotoxin positive isolates were resistant to oxacillin. Eighty eight strains (50.86%) of 173 MRSA isolate possessed tsst gene, but eta and eth genes were not detected at all. In the detection of MRSA associated genes by PCR method, mecA genes were detected in 167 strains (96.53%). From the result of PFGE analysis, we classified tsst-positive MRSA to 10 types and 24 subtypes. Type A, H and F were the major strains comprised of 57.95% (51 strains), 10.22% (9 strains) and 9.09% (8 strains) respectively.

우주활용을 위한 데이터 인터페이스 시뮬레이터의 하드웨어 접속 구현 및 시험

  • 본 논문에서는 국제우주정거장의 데이터 인터페이스 구현 및 시험을 위하여 1553B와 FDDI 하드웨어를 이용한 시뮬레이터를 제작하였다. 데이터 인터페이스 시뮬레이터는 국제우주정거장과 탑재모듈에 대한 시뮬레이터와 탑재모듈의 제어부분, 상태를 확인하기 위한 모니터링 부분으로 구성되어진다. 국제우주정거장 시뮬레이터는 탑재모듈에 명령을 내리고 상태데이터를 받아 분석하며 탑재모듈에서 수집된 데이터를 수신하여 저장하는 기능을 갖는다. 탑재모듈은 국제우주정거장에서 오는 탑재 수집 데이터를 받아 분석/수행하고 탑재모듈에서 수집된 데이터를 시뮬레이션 하는 기능을 가지며, 모니터링 시스템은 데이터 통신간의 인터페이스 속도나 상태 등을 분석하고 전체적인 그래픽 인터페이스를 제공한다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 PC환경에서 직렬통신과 TCP/IP를 이용하여 시뮬레이션 한 것을, PCI 카드 타입의 1553B와 FDDI 데이터 인터페이스 하드웨어를 이용하여 구현하고 시험하였다. 시뮬레이터 시험 및 검증을 위해서 4가지 타입의 명령을 만들었으며, 국제우주정거장 모듈에서 명령을 내리면 탑재모듈에서 해당 명령을 수행하는 과정을 GUI 환경의 프로그램으로 모니터링 하여 검증하였다. 본 연구를 통하여 국제우주정거장과 탑재모듈 간의 요구사항 분석, 데이터 인터페이스 포맷 정의, 데이터 인터페이스 하드웨어 환경 구현 등의 성과가 있었으며, 추후 탑재모듈 특성이나 국제우주정거장의 구체적인 기능 추가에 의해 탑재모듈 개발을 위한 ETB로 활용할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
