  • 본 연구에서는 ER(electro-rheological) 유체을 이용한 가변댐퍼(variable damper)를 제안했다. 전기장(electric field) 부하시 Bingham특성을 갖는 ER유체는 전기장에따라 항복전단응력이 변하기 때문에이를 이용하여 댐핑력을 제어할 수 있다. 피스톤의 상하압력차가 전기장의 함수이기 때문에 기존의 비능동 혹은 능동형 댐퍼에서 필요로하는 복잡한 밸브시스템이 필요없으며, 따라서 구조면에서 매우 간단하게 설계될 수 있고, 반응시간 또한 매우 빠르다. 간단한 현가정치 모델을 설정 하여제안된 ER 댐퍼의 효율성과 우수성을 주파수 및 시간 영역에서 해석하였다.

Electrorheological Properties of Cellulose Phosphate Ester Suspension by Conduction Models (전도성 모델에 의한 인산에스테르셀룰로오즈 현탁액의 전기유변학적 특성 연구)

  • The electrical and rheological behaviors of the cellulose phosphate ester suspension in the silicone oil were investigated. Cellulose phosphate ester suspension showed a typical ER response (Bingham flow behavior) upon application of an electric field. The shear stress for the cellulose phosphate ester suspension exhibited a linear dependence on the volume fraction of particles and a square power of the electric field. On the basis of the experimental results, cellulose phosphate ester suspension correlated with the conduction model of Tang et al, and found to be an ER fluid.

  • Aminated polyacrylonitrile as the new organic disperse phases of the anhydrous ER fluid has been synthesized and ER effect of the suspension composed of aminated polyacrylonitrile in silicone oil investigated. The suspension showed a typical ER response (Bingham flow behavior) upon application of an electric field. The shear stress for the suspension exhibited the dependence with a factor equals to 1.6 power on theelectric field. The current density and the conductivity of the of aminated polyacrylonitrile suspension increase with the electric field intensity and moreover the conductivity of the suspension is about 8 order of magnitude higher than that of the silicone oil. On the basis of the the results, aminated polyacrylonitrile suspension showed the ER flow behavior upon application of the electric field due to the polarizability of the branched amine polar group of the aminated polyacrylonitrile particles.

  • This paper presents force feedback control performance of a 3DOF haptic device that can be used for minimally invasive surgery (MIS). As a first step, a 3DOF electrorheological (ER) joint is designed using a spherical mechanism. And it is optimized based on the mathematical torque modeling. Subsequently, the master haptic device is manufactured by the spherical joint. In order to achieve desired force trajectories, model based compensation strategy is adopted for the ER master. Therefore, Preisach model fur the PMA-based ER fluid is identified using experimental first order descending (FOD) curves. A compensation strategy is then formulated through the model inversion to achieve desired force at the ER master. Tracking control performances for sinusoidal force trajectory are presented, and their tracking errors are evaluated.

  • 초고속통신의 실현과 다양한 멀티미디어정보의 QoS를 향상시키기 위한 ATM 방식은 TCP/IP 통신의 기본적인 전송 매카니즘으로 사용되고 있다. TCP가 ATM 망에서의 ABR서비스를 사용할 때 ABR의 율 기반 제어와 TCP 흐름제어사이에 상호작용이 없는 한, 이런 환경하에서 ATM망의 ABR 트래픽을 좀더 효율적으로 제어하기위해서는 EFCI-ER 스위치 방식의 상호혼용 운영이 불가피하다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 상호혼용을 위하여 EFCI-ER 스위치의 혼용망을 모델로 하여 여러 가지 ER 스위치 알고리즘을 이용하여 대역할당의 공정성 셀손실을 그리고 처리율을 구하였다. 시뮬레이션 결과로써 여러 가지 ER 스위치 알고리즘중에서 망의 형태에 영향을 덜 받으면서 VC(Virtual Channel) 에 공정하게 대역폭을 할당할 수 있는 하나의 알고리즘을 나타내었다.

Simulation of Bi-dispersed Electrorheological Fluids of Different Particle Sizes by the Extended Maxwell-Wagner Polarization Model (확장된 Maxwell-Wagner 분극 모델에 의한 서로 크기가 다른 입자들로 구성된 이성분계 전기유변 유체의 전산 모사)

  • The extended Maxwell-Wagner polarization model is employed to describe the ER(Electrorheological) behavior of bi-dispersed ER suspensions, and solutions to the equation of motion are obtained by dynamic simulation. Under the same particle volume fraction, it is found that the dynamic yield stresses of uniform size suspensions do not depend on the particle size. Compared with uniform size suspensions, the dynamic yield stress is reduced for ER fluids consisting of two kinds of particles with different sizes. Compared with the dynamic yield stress behavior, for ${\dot{\gamma}}^*$≧0.01 the shear stress shows different behaviors depending on the particle sizes and the raio of different size particles. The simulation results show the nonlinear ER behavior (∆𝛕 ∝ En, n ≈ 1.55) of the conducting particle ER suspensions.

  • In developing information systems, conceptual modeling is among the most fundamental means. The importance attributed to conceptual modeling has not only given rise to a lot of modeling methods, but also to the "yet another modeling approach (YAMA)" syndrome and the "not another modeling approach (NAMA)" hysteria. Criticism of conceptual modeling methods usually targets their lacking of theoretical foundations. In response to such criticism, various approaches towards theoretical foundations of conceptual modeling have been proposed so far. One of the recent responses to the quest for theoretical foundations of conceptual modeling is the reference to the philosophical ontology. The currently most prominent of diverse approaches towards ontological foundations of conceptual modeling appears to be the Bunge-Wand-Weber (BWW) ontology. Recent approaches attempt to regard BWW ontology as another conceptual data model as well as a criterion for evaluating various conceptual models. However, unfortunately, relatively few researches have been made on interoperability between the Entity-Relationship (ER) model, which is the most dominant conceptual data model, and ontology based model. In this paper, we investigate the interoperability between ontology and the ER model. In detail we (i) reclassify components of ER model with respect to ontology concepts, (ii) identify some components that cannot be directly represented in ontology notation, and (iii) present alternative representations to the components to acquire ontologically clear ER diagrams. Additionally, we (iv) present a set of mapping rules for converting the ontologically clear ER diagram into the corresponding ontology. In a case study, we show the process of converting an ER diagram for a concise Project Management System (PMS) into the ontologically clear ER diagram and the corresponding ontology. We also describe an experiment that we undertook to test whether users understand the Ontologically-Clear ER diagram better.

  • This paper presents a novel concept of cargo handling system adapted for a sea port subjected to severe time-varying tide. The proposed system can perform loading or unloading by using a sort of hydraulic elevator associated with real-time position control. In order to achieve a proof-of-concept, a small-sized laboratory model of the cargo handling system is designed and built. The model consists of three principal components container palette transfer (CPT) car, platform with lifting columns, and cargo ship. The platform activated by electro-rheological (ER) valve-cylinders is actively controlled to track the position of the cargo ship subjected to be varied due to the time-varying tide and wave motion. Following the derivation of the dynamic model for the platform and cargo ship motions, an appropriate control scheme is formulated and implemented. The location of the CPT car is sensed by a set of photoelectric switches and controlled via sequence controller. On the other hand, a sliding mode controller (SMC) is adopted as the position controller for the platform. Both simulated and measured control results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed cargo system.

A Screening Method to Identify Potential Endocrine Disruptors Using Chemical Toxicity Big Data and a Deep Learning Model with a Focus on Cleaning and Laundry Products (화학물질 독성 빅데이터와 심층학습 모델을 활용한 내분비계 장애물질 선별 방법-세정제품과 세탁제품을 중심으로)

  • Background: The number of synthesized chemicals has rapidly increased over the past decade. For many chemicals, there is a lack of information on toxicity. With the current movement toward reducing animal testing, the use of toxicity big data and deep learning could be a promising tool to screen potential toxicants. Objectives: This study identified potential chemicals related to reproductive and estrogen receptor (ER)-mediated toxicities for 1135 cleaning products and 886 laundry products. Methods: We listed chemicals contained in cleaning and laundry products from a publicly available database. Then, chemicals that potentially exhibited reproductive and ER-mediated toxicities were identified using the European Union Classification, Labeling and Packaging classification and ToxCast database, respectively. For chemicals absent from the ToxCast database, ER activity was predicted using deep learning models. Results: Among the 783 listed chemicals, there were 53 with potential reproductive toxicity and 310 with potential ER-mediated toxicity. Among the 473 chemicals not tested with ToxCast assays, deep learning models indicated that 42 chemicals exhibited ER-mediated toxicity. A total of 13 chemicals were identified as causing reproductive toxicity by reacting with the ER. Conclusions: We demonstrated a screening method to identify potential chemicals related to reproductive and ER-mediated toxicities utilizing chemical toxicity big data and deep learning. Integrating toxicity data from in vivo, in vitro, and deep learning models may contribute to screening chemicals in consumer products.

Force-Feedback Control of an Electrorheological Haptic Device in MIS Virtual Environment (ER 유체를 이용한 햅틱 마스터와 가상 MIS 환경의 연동제어)

  • This paper presents force-feedback control performance of a haptic device in virtual environment of minimally invasive surgery(MIS). As a first step, based on an electrorheological(ER) fluid and spherical geometry, a new type of master device is developed and integrated with a virtual environment of MIS such as a surgical tool and human organ. The virtual object is then mathematically formulated by adopting the shape retaining chain linked(S-Chain) model. After evaluating reflection force, computational time, and compatibility with real time control, the virtual environment of MIS is formulated by interactivity with the ER haptic device in real space. Tracking control performances for virtual force trajectory are presented in time domain, and theirtrackingerrorsareevaluated.
