The EPCglobal Network is a computer network used to share product data among trading partners. It provides the supply chain with improved visibility and traceability by using Electronic Product Code (EPC), which is stored on an RFID tag. Although this network model is widely accepted as a global standard and the growth of EPCglobal-subscriber base is considerable, the EPC technology adoption process is still in its infancy. This is because some of the critical issues on this model still remain to be verified such as scalability, data management, security, privacy and the economic value of data sharing. In this paper, we focus on scalability issue among the challenges to overcome and we regard performance of the EPCglobal Network only as a track and trace query-processing cost in the network. We developed performance models consisting of three elements of the EPCglobal Network : Discovery Services (DS), EPC Information Services (EPCIS), Object Naming Services (ONS). Then we abstracted out the track and trace query execution model to evaluate performance of the overall EPCglobal Network. Finally using the proposed models, we carried out simulation analysis based on an RFID-based inbound logistics process of automobile parts. This work is an important step towards the EPC technology diffusion and provides guidelines for businesses looking to buy or build the EPCglobal Network-based systems.

Recently, the importance of EPCglobal Network and brisk researches on the RFID technologies and application have been increasing, also a number of industries including distribution and logistics are proposing various systems of the application. The Standard for EPCglobal Network, as now being in the process of its legislation, stipulates X.509 only for the method of encryption, without accurate specifications. This paper is, thus, to suggest the way of sending safely messages for the web-based service constituting EPCglobal Network, of verifying whether the received messages are effective, of encoding the messages for safer sending and of certifying between systems, and then to implement the way.

Today as the scale of e-commerce constantly expands, the number and the amount of the consumer frauds are also increasing very rapidly, without sufficient levels of systematic support to prevent them. Internet Escrow service is one of the promising payment mechanisms, which guarantees secure electronic trades and payments. Especially, if the real-time product delivery information is available via RFID-based track-and-trace environment, the security and efficiency of the Internet Escrow services would be improved a lot. In this research, proposed a novel approach to integrate EPCglobal Network, which is a de-facto standard for RFID-based information network model, with Internet Escrow services. The proposed service model was implemented in the form of "Integrated Financial Platform", which supports the contracts among trading partners and the payment via Escrow services by being fully integrated with bank systems. Using the implemented EPCglobal Network-based Escrow service system, we would be able not only to shorten the money-flow cycle and to develop new kinds of loan services, but also to overcome the problems of existing Escrow services including the lack of product-related information and the delay of purchasing decisions.

The EPCglobal Network is a system which provides the information of items to suppliers, consumers, and customers by granting identification numbers on the goods based on the technologies of EPC(Electronic Product Code) and RFID(Radio Frequency Identification), and connecting the space to store those information by network. The EPCglobal architecture framework is also a service consolidating supply and process chain by using EPC for the common goal of business corporations. In the national level, it is necessary to define standard vocabularies for each location and logistics business process for RFID environment using the pre-constructed logistics information infrastructure. Therefore, we define the standard vocabularies and partially user vocabularies for international logistics on EPCglobal network architecture. Finally, we believe that our vocabularies contribute to describing the events fur the EPCglobal network architecture and actually providing usable platform via the XML implementation.

EPCglobal Network is based on the Electronic Product Code(EPC) and rapidly opening up to many enterprises that have close relationships with each other. Since a huge amount of logistics Information is distributed in the EPCglobal Network, it needs to manage them effectively. Global logistics companies and institutes are studying and setting up the standards about EPC Information Service(EPCIS), Object Name Service (ONS) and EPC Discovery Service(EPCDS) in the RFID and EPC-based logistics information network. In this paper, we propose expanded EPCIS and EPCDS that are satisfy EPCglobal standards and enable more effective logistics information management.

This paper presents u-COEX, Ubiquitous-Collaborative Online shopping EXecution system, for small- and mediam- sized business enterprises, based on EPCglobal network. The system is taking advantage of RFID technology promises to optimize the critical processes in the Supply Chain Management. The system consists of five major functions: integrated order management, realtime monitoring and analysis system of sales and inventory, decision support system, integrating with EPCglobal and RFID technology, and u-catalog feature. The prototype implementation was developed for mass electronic market complex and the result revealed the feasibility to be applicable to real market.

The wave of 4PL added to strategic consulting based on new IT techniques, for example RFID, with logistics outsourcing through existing 3PL service is a great issue. It is also worthy of notice that EPCglobal network strengthen the role of 4PL. In conclusion, the 4PL system based on EPCglobal network will result in a good success, so it will raise a prestige of air cargo in Korea to a higher position. This study deals with the new logistics system, air cargo logistics system based on u-4PL system, RFID and EPCglobal network, that will bring many advantages.

EPCglobal 네트워크란 EPC(Electronic Product Code)와 RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) 기술을 바탕으로 제품에 식별번호를 부여하고 정보를 저장할 수 있는 공간을 네트워크로 연동하여 공급자, 수요자, 소비가 제품에 관련된 정보를 알 수 있게 해주는 시스템을 말한다. 또한 EPCglobal 네트워크 아키텍처 프레임워크(EPCglobal network architecture framework)는 EPC를 사용하여 공급과 유통망 강화라는 업체간의 공동 목표를 위한 서비스하는 것이다. EPCglobal 네트워크 아키텍처 중 EPCIS(EPC Information System) 수집 애플리케이션, EPCIS 접근 애플리케이션에서 이벤트 정의 시 공통적인 의사소통을 위한 표준 어휘 정의가 필수적이며, 그 어휘 종류에는 표준 어휘(standard vocabulary)와 사용자어휘(user vocabulary)가 있다. 이 논문은 이 가운데 EPCglobal 네트워크 아키텍처의 표준 어휘 정의에 초점을 두고, 사용자 어휘는 부분적으로 정의하고자 한다. 따라서 이 논문은 EPCglobal 네트워크 프레임 아키텍처의 이벤트 정의 시 사용될 표준 어휘를 제안하고, XML 구현을 통해 실제 사용 가능한 환경을 제공할 것이다.

EPCglobal has proposed the EPC Sensor Network to efficiently integrate and interoperate the RFID and WSN technologies based on the international standard EPCglobal Network. However, it can not deal with the sensor data without EPS. Also, it does not provide enough management function for the sensor data only. This study proposes USN management system that can deal with these weaknesses of EPC Sensor Network. Not only that, it is suitable for the medical environment properly. In the medical environment, it is important for the medical information to be integrated and interconnected via the standard for medical data. This proposed USN management system is based on SIP-HL 7 and can send RFID and WSN data based on SIP(Session Initiation Protocol). It can be interconnected with the existing hospital information system and exchange the information. Also it can design and materialize SIP Interface based on HL7 that allows the medical information to be exchanged and sent.

본 논문에서는 EPCglobal Network 기반에서 시스템간의 메시지를 안전하게 암호화하여 전송하고 복호화 하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 시스템은 AES 대칭키 암호화 방법을 통해 메시지를 암호화 하고, PKI 의 X.509 암호화 기법인 주체자의 개인키를 통해 전자서명을 하여 위변조를 판별하며, AES 에 사용된 키는 대상자의 인증서에 포함되어 있는 공개키를 통해 전송해 해준다. 특히 여러 사용자들에게 동시에 편리성과 안전성을 보장할 수 있게끔 하기 위하여 인증서 발급 및 메시지 전송은 웹서비스 기반의 SOAP 메시지를 사용하여 처리한다.
