직류급전 시스템의 Autonomous Operation을 위한 교류연계장치와 에너지 저장의 Droop Control (A Droop Control for the Autonomous Operation of DC Distribution System using Grid-tied Converter and Energy Storage)

  • This paper describes a droop control method for the autonomous operation of DC distribution system using distributed generations and energy storage. The method suppress the circulating current, and each unit could be controlled autonomously without communication system. Detailed model of wind power generation, photo-voltaic generation, fuel-cell generation and battery was implemented with the user-defined model of PSCAD/EMTDC software that is coded with C-language. The simulation and experimental results confirms that the proposed DC distribution system make it feasible to provide power to the load stably and verify effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • Recently, due to increasing the application of power electronic equipment, harmonics generated from the non-liner load are fairy produced. Harmonics can cause a distribution problems such as the overheating of distribution transformer, the breakdown of device and communication interference. Interest about power quality decline of distribution system is very increased. In this paper, we are measured the harmonic voltage and current of distribution system to analyze harmonic characteristics, and it is analyzed Total Harmonic Distortion(HTD). Also, we are modeled distribution system using PSCAD/EMTDC. And it is analyzed harmonic voltage and current in steady-state. The study result have been indicated the utility about harmonics analysis and modeling for distribution system.

  • Modern power systems are very complex and to model them completely is impractical for electromagnetic transient studies. Therefore areas outside the immediate area of interest must be represented by some form of frequency dependent equivalent. This paper presents the formulation for developing 1 & 2 port Frequency Dependent Network Equivalent (FDNE) with the instantaneous term in S-domain and illustrates its use. This 1 & 2 Port FDNE have been applied to the CIGRE Benchmark Rectifier test AC system. The electromagnetic transient package PSCAD/EMTDC is used to assess the transient response of the 1 & 2 port (FDNE) developed with Norton Equivalent network.

  • Power quality has become concern both utilities and their customers with wide spread use of electronic and power electronic equipment. This paper deals with the use of a multiresolution analysis and a discrete wavelet transform to detect interruption, sag, swell, transients and etc. The simulation system is constructed by using PSCAD/EMTDC. To show the effectiveness of the proposed method, a various case studies are simulated.

  • The installation of small sized dispersed generation(DG) units operating in parallel with the utility supply presents several technical problems for the protection and control of the system. One of the critical concerns is the occurrence of islanding. Hence, this paper propose the Digital Universal Relay(DUR) including anti-islanding function as DG interconnection interface. The existent islanding detection algorithms are examined. And the most effective and reliable method of those is modified for DUR application. The modified algorithm is evaluated through the modeling of the test system by PSCAD/EMTDC.

Hybrid Double Direction Blocking Sub-Module for MMC-HVDC Design and Control

  • Dealing with the DC link fault poses a technical problem for an HVDC based on a modular multilevel converter. The fault suppressing mechanisms of several sub-module topologies with DC fault current blocking capacity are examined in this paper. An improved half-bridge sub-module topology with double direction control switch is also designed to address the additional power consumption problem, and a sub-module topology called hybrid double direction blocking sub module (HDDBSM) is proposed. The DC fault suppression characteristics and sub-module capacitor voltage balance problem is also analyzed, and a self-startup method is designed according to the number of capacitors. The simulation model in PSCAD/EMTDC is built to verify the self-startup process and the DC link fault suppression features.

초전도 코일을 이용한 DC 회로 차단기의 차단 능력 특성 (Characteristics of Interruption Ability in DC Circuit Breaker using Superconducting Coil)

  • Development of DC interruption technology is being studied actively for enhanced DC grid reliability and stability. In this study, coil type superconductor DC circuit breaker was proposed as DC interruption. It is integration technology that combined current-limiting technique using superconductor and cut-off technique using mechanical DC circuit breaker. Superconductor was applied to the coil type. In simulation, Mayr arc model was applied to realize the arc characteristic in the mechanical DC circuit breaker. PSCAD/EMTDC had used to model and perform the simulation. To find out the protection range of coil type superconductor DCCB, the working operation have analyzed based on the rated voltage of DCCB. The results confirmed that, according to apply the limiting device, the protection range was increased in twice. Therefore, the probability of failure of interruption has lowered significantly.

  • In accordance with the Carbon-Free Island by 2030 policy of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, renewable energy sources are increasing in Jejudo Island. Due to the intermittent output characteristics of wind turbines, one of the renewable energy sources, which can cause unbalanced system conditions between the demand load and the power generation of Jejudo Island. The Korea Power Exchange limits the output of wind turbines for stabilizing the Jeju power system. Therefore, this paper proposes a method to supply a limited output of Sangmyeong Wind Farm in Jeju Power system to Energy Storage System(ESS) and Water Electrolysis Device(WED). The voltage and frequency fluctuation of the Jeju power system is checked accordingly. The simulation results are performed using the PSCAD/EMTDC program.

  • 본 논문에서는 고압 직류송전용 MMC에 오프셋 전압 제어를 적용하는 데 있어 3고조파 주입기법과 제안하는 가변오프셋 전압 제어 기법에 따른 시스템의 고조파 특성과 순환전류 특성에 대해 비교 분석한 내용을 기술하고 있다. 제안한 가변오프셋 전압 제어는 MI(Modulation Index)에 따라 오프셋 전압의 크기를 가변 하여 MMC 출력 상전압이 항상 N+1 레벨을 형성하는 기법이다. 제안하는 기법과 3고조파 주입기법의 비교를 위해 200MW MMC HVDC 시스템에 적용하여 PSCAD/EMTDC 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다. 제안한 기법은 오프셋 전압제어 적용에 따라 발생할 수 있는 고조파 특성에 있어 3고조파 주입기법에 비해 우수함을 확인하였다. 또한 제안하는 기법을 사용할 경우 오프셋 전압에 의한 4고조파 순환전류 저감이 가능함을 알 수 있었다.

AC 계통 불평형 조건에서 출력동요 저감을 위한 MMC 내부 동적특성 분석 (Analysis of Internal Dynamics in Modular Multilevel Converter for Reducing Power Oscillation Under Grid Voltage Distortion)

  • 본 논문은 AC 계통 불평형 발생 시 출력전력의 동요를 저감시키기 위한 POD 전략을 수행하는 MMC-HVDC 시스템의 내부 동적상태를 분석하였다. POD 전략을 통해서 MMC 출력전류의 역상분을 제어하여 계통에 주입되는 유효 전력의 발진을 제거함으로써, MMC-HVDC 시스템이 연계된 인근 계통에 공급 신뢰도를 향상시킬 수 있다. POD 전략에서 유효 전력만 출력할 경우, MMC의 각 상에는 동일한 전력이 흐른다. 반면, 계통 전압 보상을 위해서 무효 전력을 동시에 공급할 경우, 각 상에 흐르는 전력은 불균형해지기 때문에 MMC의 암전류 불평형이 발생하여 스위치 소자의 정격 용량 및 열 스트레스를 증가 시켜 MMC의 안정성을 저해시킨다. 본 논문은 POD 전략을 수행하기 위해서 무효 전력이 MMC 암 전류에 미치는 영향을 분석하였으며, 200 MW MMC-HVDC 모델을 바탕으로 PSCAD/EMTDC 시뮬레이션 툴을 이용하여 분석 결과를 검증하였다.
