  • This paper describes the faun phenomena by the simulation in power system including underground transmission power cable. Studying on fault phenomena is a very important part to decide the circuit breaker, protective relay and system configuration. Simulation was carried out in several different model system depended upon cable kinds using PSCAD/EMTDC, which is one of the transient program. The simulated results show the possibility to analyze transient phenomena for the cable system.

  • This study presents a AC electric railway system analysis using PSCAD/EMTDC for circuit analysis and fault studies. This PSCAD/EMTDC model includes feeder, contact line, rails. Scott-transformer. Auto-transformer and so on. This model is based on four-port network which is an extension of two-port network theory. In order to verify the proposed model, fault studies of a test system are performed.

  • 본 논문에서는 전압 sag 보상을 위한 배전용 정지형 보상기 (DSTATCOM) 제어기를 설계하고 PSCAD/EMTDC로 확인하였다. DSIATCOM의 전류성분을 dq분해 해석을 통하여 상태방정식을 유도하고 부하모델과 네트워크의 제약조건을 고려하여 결합 모델을 제시하였다. 1선 지락 사고시 PI 제어기보다 LQR 제어기의 응답 특성이 우수함을 검증하고 전압 Sag가 개선됨을 보였다.

  • To supply electrical power with high quality, the power system must be optimized in many ways such as planning, control and management. In order to optimize the power system, the analysis of the power system is necessary. The elements of the power system require an accurate model to analysis of the power system. The components of the power systems such as generators, transformers and transmission lines have been studied and researched a lot in their modeling and very sophisticated models have been proposed. However, in case of load in-depth studies on the exact model are required. In this paper, measurement-based load modeling method using real-time measured data is proposed in various methods to reflect the characteristics of the load. To prove the validity of the proposed method, PSCAD/EMTDC program is used to configure the power system and measurement data according to the various failures are used to study on load modeling.

  • In order to level electric power of the photovoltaic and wind-turbine system and ensure fast response of the fuel-cell and micro-turbine, the energy storage is required in the microgrid system. In this paper, a simplified simulation model of the battery energy storage for charging method with IUIa is developed using PSCAD/EMTDC. The model consists of e.m.f.(electromotive force), internal resistor and overvoltage capacitor. A method for deciding parameters of the model on a case-by-case basis is proposed. The developed model can be used in the simulation of a complicated system such as a microgrid system.

  • The power generated by a Photovoltaic(PV) cell depends on the operating voltage of the array, its voltage-current and voltage-power characteristic curves specify a unique operating point at which maximum possible power is delivered and the array is operated at its highest efficiency. PSCAD/EMTDC, which is a simulation tool for the transient analysis of an electric power system, was used to simulate the PV Cell system. So, in this paper, the PV cell components of the PSCAD/EMTDC were developed, and the Maximum Power Point Tracking(MPPT) modeling was used for the developed PV power system to find the maximum power.

  • When any faults occurred in electrical railway system, operators need to analysis it quickly and accurately. Existing COMTRADE based analysis tools are not enough to analysis faults occurred in electrical railway system. In this paper, it presents some functions to fault analysis for electrical railway system based on fault data formatted COMTRADE. These functions are implemented in PSCAD/EMTDC and it can be shown that analyzed results against actual electrical fault cases which were occurred in the electrical railway power system.

  • This paper presents the results of a grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) system modeling that contain incremental conductance MPPT(Maximum Power Point Tracking) controller by PSCAD/EMTDC simulator and investigates the influence that can occur in the grid-connected PV system from aspect of power quality, i.e. voltage drop, total harmonic distortion(THD) and total demand distortion(TDD). The measured data the PV array modeling of PSCAD/EMTDC in Cheongwadae, Seoul, Korea is used in the paper.

  • The modelling of PEMFC(Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell) has been studied in many kinds of methods. But there are some limitations in application of the developed models to analysis transient phenomena of power systems. The PSCAD/EMTDC is very popular simulation tool in power system areas. To analysis power systems interconnected to PEMFCs, the PSCAD/EMTDC model of the PEMFCs is needed. In this paper, we developed a PSCAD/EMTDC model of PEMFC based on electro-chemical characteristic equations of PEMFC. Also, we performed simulations using the developed model in the PSCAD/EMTDC program and tested appropriateness of the proposed the models. The simulations showed good results.
