A Study on Characteristic Analysis of Shaft Electromotive Force in SAEYUDAL (새유달호 축기전력의 특성 분석에 관한 연구)

  • Electromotive forces (EMF) are generated by electrical equipment and engine shafting with a number of reasons. The shaft and bearing which is insulated by lubricating oil acts as a condenser, being able to store this EMFs. The electromotive force on the hull and shaft, with very few exceptions, has anode voltage on it. Electrical spark of the anode voltage on the shaft may lead to corrosion. Hence, in order to prevent ship's shaft and propeller corrosion, shaft grounding system are installed and operated. The shaft EMF voltage measurement methods was measured using 24bit 2 channels A/D converter of NI company and Labview software. 1 channel was propeller shaft's voltage and the other was M/E engine rpm gauge. In this paper, the generated electromotive force was analyzed and modeled with result of the analysis. As a result, the main shaft's electromotive force was in direct proportion to the main engine's revolution. However, over the specific R.P.M., it was reduced gradually. In addition, higher electromotive force on the shaft was identified during engine's ahead direction than the astern direction. The generated electromotive force is only minor compared to the shaft grounding system.

The Development of Measuring Method of Coated Steel Corrosion in Mortar by Transient Electro-Magnetic(TEM) Method (과도전자탐사법에 의한 모르타르 중의 코팅 철근의 부식 측정 방법 개발)

  • To study measurement of coated steel corrosion in mortar, a transient electro-magnetic(TEM) method was adapted. The sensors were made of enamelled wire with diameter of 0.25mm(transmitter), 0.1mm(receiver) and the secondary electro motive force(EMF) was measured with SIROTEMIII. The sensors configuration was used as in loop configuration. After coated steels were corroded by the salt spray during 3, 7, 15, 25days, they were embedded in mortar which were made from sand : cement : water ratio of 2 : 1 :0.5. To investigate coated steel corrosion in mortar, the sensors were used. ( sensorl - $T_x$ : $4{\Omega}$, $R_x$ : $10{\Omega}$, $3{times}3cm$, sensor2 - $T_x$ : $8{\Omega}$, $R_x$ : $10{\Omega}$, $3{times}3cm$, sensor3 - $T_x$ : $4{\Omega}$, $R_x$ : $10{\Omega}$, $6{times}6cm$, sensor4 - $T_x$ : $8{\Omega}$, $R_x$ : $10{\Omega}$, $6{times}6cm$). The obtained results showed that the secondary EMF was decreased with specimens of 3, 7days corroded coationg steel in mortar and then increased with specccimens of 15, 25days corroded one. And it was confirmed that measurement of coated steel corrosion in mortar by a transient electro-magnetic(TEM) method is possible.

  • The E-field intensity by mobile handsets in a phantom is measured by a 3 axes miniature probe. The detected DC voltage by a Schottky diode in a probe has nonlinear characteristics by itself. If a pertinent diode compression point (DCP) is applied for the compensation specific absorption rate(SAR) as much as 200 W/kg can be measured with a good measurement accuracy.

  • Magnesia partially stabilized zirconia(Mg-PSZ) solid electrolytes for an improvement of thermal shock resistance, which is suitable for the measurement of oxygen activity in a molten steel, were prepared by post-thermal aging treatment. The steelmaking oxygen sensor elements were formed by an injection molding method, sintered at $1650^{\circ}C$, and then thermal aged ranged from 1250 to $1400^{\circ}C$. Sintered density and porosity were decreased as increasing the magnesia content in a zirconia-magnesia solid solution. Fractions of cubic phase to the synthesized Mg-PSZ solid electrolytes were ranged from 13.13 to 79.54.% after post-thermal aging treatment. Very dense microstructure without voids in the grains was obtained by the post-thermal aging process. Fine tetragonal phase crystallites precipitated on the cubic surface during post-thermal aging up to $1300^{\circ}C$ improve a thermal shock resistance and reappearance of electro motive force(EMF) curve.

  • The large scale magnets like thermalnuclear fusion devices are necessary for superconducting CICC cable, When the Cable In Conduit Conductors(CICC) is occurred by the external turbulence, the CICC occurs to quench, The CICC can be broken because the CICC spends all energy in the quench-happened spot. Therefore, it is necessary to develop measurement systems of the quench detection. The measurement systems of the relative good degree of efficiency are the voltage tap sensors. The weak points of voltage tap sensors are effected by EMF noise and inductance. The thermalnuclear fusion devices easily can't measure inductance value because of plasma current. In the experiment, The value of inductance was estimated by FEM techniques and the decrement of Inductance value measured as long as remaining plasma current.

  • This paper deals with the prediction of characteristic for permanent magnet linear synchronous motor(PMLSM). The open-circuit field distribution is predicted using a two-dimensional(2-D) analytical solution derivd in terms of magnetic vector potential. The slotting and skew effect is considered using the relative permeance function. and than using this result, flux linkage and back EMF is calculated. The results are validated extensively by finite element(FE) analyses and measurement.

  • In this paper, we designed and fabricated wideband 3-axis isotropic antenna for the Electro-Magnetic Fields(EMFs) measurement. Each part of proposed 3-axis antenna has isotropic characteristics and arbitrary axis of proposed 3-axis antenna could be selectable using RF switch. Also, a resistor was inserted in each axis of proposed 3-axis antenna for improving antenna gain and noise suppression characteristics, and port impedance of each dipole antenna were matched by balun. For the performance verification of antenna, GTEM Cell which generates standard electromagnetic field was used for the derivation of antenna factor and receiver sensitivity. As a result, fabricated 3-axis isotropic antenna has receiver sensitivity of 0.12~4.2 mV/m and typical VSWR of 3.3:1 within a wide operation frequency range from 0.03 MHz to 3 GHz.

  • In order to measure steel corrosion in mortar by a transient electro-magnetic (TEM) Method, the development of the sensors have been studied. The sensors were made of enamelled wire with diameter of 0.25mm and Acril. The sensor configuration was used as a coincident loop type. The secondary electro motive force(EMF) was measured with SIROTEM III. The accelerator was equipped with the SIROTEM III. The accelerator permits the transmitter to turn off approximately 10~15 times faster than normal. The high resolution time series used for very shallow or high resistivity investigation was selected. The steels were embedded in mortar which were made from sand : cement : water ratio of 2 : 1: 0.5. The mortar specimen was 50cm long, 20cm wide and 10cm thick. To investigate steel corrosion in mortar, the sensors used were with 2$\times$2$cm^2$(3, 6, 9$\Omega$), 3$\times$3$cm^2$(3, 6, 9$\Omega$) and 6$\times$6$cm^2$(3, 6, 9$\Omega$). The obtained result obtained showed that the sensor 8(6$\times$6$cm^2$, 6$\Omega$) was the proper sensor for the measurement of steel corrosion in mortar.

  • Impedance of a post mount structure supporting a microwave diode in the X-band rectangular waveguide is calculated by using the induced EMF method. Probe measurement of the driving point impedance of the post mounu shows a close agreement with the theoretical calulation when the gap of the post mount is near the bottom wall of the waveguide.

  • Generally, the digital controller has many advantages such as high precision, robustness to electrical noise, capability of flexible programming and fast response to the load variation. In this study, we have established proper mathematical equivalent model of Brushless DC (BLDC) motor and estimated the motor parameter by means of the back-emf measurement as being the step input to the controlled target BLDC motor. And the validity of proposed estimation method is confirmed by the test result of step response. As well, we have designed the reasonable digital controller as a consequence of the root locus method which is obtained from the open-loop transfer function of BLDC motor with hall sensor, and the determination of control gain for variable speed control. Here, revised Ziegler-Nichols tuning method is applied for the proper digital gain establishment, and the system stability is verified by the frequency domain analysis with Bode-plot and experimentation.
