국내분리 말구진 원인병원체(Equine herpesvirus type 3)의 특징 (Characteristics on Equine Herpesvirus Type 3 from Korea)

  • Equine herpesvirus type 3 (EHV-3)는 말[마(馬)]에서 말구진을 유발하고 말산업에 치명적인 악영향을 끼치는 매우 중요한 병원체이다. 국내에서 처음으로 말구진이 발생하였고, 말 생산농가에 경제적 피해를 입혔으나 다행히 원인바이러스 분리에 성공하였다. 이에 원인바이러스의 생물학적 특징을 연구하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. EHV-3를 RK-13 cell에 접종한 결과 접종 48 시간부터 세포변성효과가 나타남을 확인하였고 접종 72 시간부터는 세포박리가 일어났다. 세포를 수확하여 바이러스 DNA를 추출한 후 PCR 검사를 수행하였다. 그 결과 EHV-3에만 양성이었고 EHV-1 및 EHV-4에는 음성이었다. Swab에서 바이러스 DNA를 추출하여 10배씩 serial dilution을 한 후 PCR 검사를 실시한 결과 $10^4$까지 밴드를 확인할 수 있었다. 국내분리 EHV-3의 gG 특정부위에 대한 염기에서 표준주인 EHV-3 334/74 strain과 397개가 일치하여 99.25%의 상동성을 나타내었고 국내분리주를 EHV-3 거로주(Georo strain)라 명명하였다. 전기영동 결과에서는 EHV-3가 EHV-1보다 적은 수의 밴드를 확인할 수 있었다. 국내 분리주 EHV-3 거로주의 단백질을 분석한 결과 145 kD, 60 kD, 45 kD, 40 kD에서 단백 밴드를 관찰하였다.

  • 우리는 기존의 현장몰드방식의 TMJ(Tape Molded Joint)와 부품조립방식 의 PJ(Prefabricated Joint) 보다 조립시간과 숙련도가 덜 필요한 고무몰드접속함을 탄성 및 우수한 절연특성을 가진 silicone 고무를 사용하여 조립공정과 절연특성, 탄성특성, 계면특성, 열적 특성 등을 연구하여 개발에 성공하였다. 고무 몰드 접속함은 실리콘 재료의 우수한 탄성에 의해 동일 케이블의 다양한 size에 적용이 가능하다.

국내 Thoroughbred경주마 생산목장에서 Equine Herpesvirus에 의한 유산폭풍의 발생기간 (The Period of Abortion Storm Caused by Equine Herpesviruses in Thoroughbred Breeding Farms in South Korea)

  • Equine herpesvirus type 1 (EHV-1) is an economically important pathogen of horses and exerts its major impact by inducing abortion storms and sporadic abortions in pregnant mares, early neonatal death in foals, and respiratory disease in young horses. Although equine herpesvirus type 4 (EHV-4) rarely causes clinical manifestations of disease in organs other than the respiratory track, isolated cases of myeloencephalopathy and sporadic abortions have been reported in EHV-4 infections. Here, we report an abortion storm in Thoroughbred breeding farms in Jeju island, South Korea. It occurred for 16 days from first abortion to last one. There were no clinical signs prior to abortion and stillbirth in broodmares. Two PCR-primers were made on glycoprotein B gene of EHV-1 and EHV-4 to amplify specific common regions of the viruses. We could detect the virus specific genes in aborted samples by PCR, and concluded that the cause of abortion storm was EHV infection. This report describes the first abortion storm case caused by EHV in Thoroughbred breeding farms in South Korea.

  • 현재 전세계적으로 170kV급 이하의 초고압 지중케이블 접속함으로 기존의 현장몰드방식의 TMJ(Tape Molded Joint)와 부품조립방식의 PJ(Prefabricated Joint)보다 조립시간이 짧고 작업자의 숙련도가 높지 않아 경제적이며, 유지보수에 장점을 가진 고무몰드 접속함(PMJ)이 채용되고 있으며, 이러한 추세는 적용 전압급이 점차 상승하면서 230kV급까지 그 비중이 늘어나고 있는 경향을 보이고 있다. 당사에서는 이러한 추세에 발맞추어 154kV급 고무몰드접속함의 개발 당시의 Silicone의 기초물성시험 DATA 획득, 고무몰드 UNIT 및 금형 설계 기술 확립과 접속 공법 개발의 경험을 바탕으로 230kV급 고무몰드접속함의 개발에 성공하였다.

  • The study was carried out to characterize the properties of Korean isolates of EHV from aborted fetuses and determine envelope protein profiles. The results obtained were summarized as follows; 1. Two strains of EHV was isolated from 2 liver samples among 10 aborted fetuses from which the virus isolation was attempted. 2. Morphological and some enzymatic properties of the Korean isolates of EHV which was designated as $LC_1$ and $LC_2$ was identical to those of a reference strain of Australia-N of EHV-1. The Korean isolates of EHV could be propagated on ED cell culture and they formed typical plaques 1 to 2 days after infection in the ED cells from which typical cuboidal particles of 150~170 nm diameter herpesvirus were observed. The virus could be detected specifically from neucleus and cytoplasm of infected cells by flourescent antibody technique using FITC labelled anti-Aust IV(EHV-1) antiserum. The Korean isolates, $LC_1$ and $LC_2$ were specifically neutralized by anti Aust IV antiserum and reacted positively to CELISA. 3. The structural polypeptides of purified enveloped virions of $LC_1$ and $LC_2$ isolates of EHV were determined by SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis to identify the envelope glycoproteins. $LC_1$ and $LC_2$ strains revealed 14 glycoproteins ranging in molecular weight from 190 kD to 31 kD while 17 structural proteins of Aust IV(EHV-1), of which 14 were identical to those of $LC_1$ and $LC_2$, were identified. Upon immunoblotting by rabbit antiserum against EHV isolates and EHV-1(Aust IV), 4 immunogenic proteins of $LC_1$ and $LC_2$ were 135 kD, 88 kD, 64 kD and 59 kD, of which 135 kD, 88 kD and 64 kD proteins were also found in Aust IV(EHV-1).

  • Silicone insulators have many advantages over porcelain insulators. Especially silicone insulators have good characteristics of impact hardness, surface insulation, ease of processing, mass productivity and don't have risk of bombardment and vandalism. Recently insulation part made by silicone are becoming widely used. In this paper we introduce the development of Sealing End for 132kV XLPE cable with silicone composite hollow insulator and the adoption of it to a actual transmission line in abroad. This paper contains of design procedure, structure, electrical performance of it.

  • Equine herpesvirus myeloencephalopathy, out of symptoms by equine herpesvirus type 1 (EHV-1) infection, can cause devastating losses on individual farms. Although myeloencephalopathy syndromes of horses in Korea have been recognized for a couple of years in horse populations, there is little study regarding the occurrence of EHV-1 infections. The present study was performed to detect the viral infection of horses with neurological syndrome using real-time PCR. Fifteen horses (27.3%) out of 55 horses with neurological deficiency were positive for EHV-1 viral antigen. Among these 7 horses, 4 horses were detected genotype of A2254/N752 and 3 horses G2254/D752 strain, respectively.

  • In general, the main dielectric materials for EHV electric appliances were epoxy, EPDM and Silicone rubber. The Silicone rubber has been rosed so many among them in EHV appliances in the worldwide, especially in Europe and North America. The reason why it is very stable in the thermal, mechanical and electrical environment. Therefore it is still becoming increasingly widespread in the application of the EHV appliances as a main dielectric material. On this study, investigated about real appliances and tested on basic properties of the Silicone rubber compared to organic dielectric material that is EPDM. At the result, the Silicone rubber is more dominant as main dielectric material for EHV appliances than any other organic polymers.

Evaluation of concurrent vaccinations with recombinant canarypox equine influenza virus and inactivated equine herpesvirus vaccines

  • Despite vaccination, equine influenza virus (EIV) and equine herpesvirus (EHV) infections still cause highly contagious respiratory diseases in horses. Recently, concurrent vaccination with EIV and EHV was suggested as a new approach; however, there have been no reports of concurrent vaccination with recombinant canarypox EIV and inactivated EHV vaccines. In this study, we aimed to compare the EIV-specific immune responses induced by concurrent administrations of a recombinant canarypox EIV vaccine and an inactivated bivalent EHV vaccine with those induced by a single recombinant canarypox EIV vaccine in experimental horse and mouse models. Serum and peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) were collected from immunized animals after vaccination. EIV-specific serum antibody levels, serum hemagglutinin inhibition (HI) titers, and interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) levels were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, HI assay, and quantitative polymerase chain reaction, respectively. Concurrent EIV and EHV vaccine administration significantly increased IFN-γ production, without compromising humoral responses. Our data demonstrate that concurrent vaccination with EIV and EHV vaccines can enhance EIV-specific cellular responses in horses.

  • 전통적으로 초고압 지중케이블 접속함으로 현장에서 절연을 형성하여 전기적 성능을 유지하는 TMJ(Tape Molded Joint), TJ(Taped Joint), EMJ(Extruded Molding Joint) 및 공장에서 절연물을 가공하여 현장에서 조립만으로 설치를 완료하게 되는 PJ(Prefabricated Joint), PMJ(Pre-Molded Joint) 등이 사용되어 왔다. 최근에 PMJ에 사용되는 재료의 발전과 PMJ의 조립시간 단축, 원가 절감 및 공장 출하시 검사에 의한 신뢰성 향상으로 지중케이블 접속함 시장에서 PMJ의 비중이 점차 확대 되어가고 있다. 이에 당사는 이미 230kV급 PMJ의 개발을 완료하였으며, 이러한 기술적 배경을 바탕으로 현재 PMJ로서는 세계에서 최고 전압급에 속하는 400kV급 PMJ의 개발을 완료하게되었다.
