Importance Sampling Embedded Experimental Frame Design for Efficient Monte Carlo Simulation (효율적인 몬테 칼로 시뮬레이션을 위한 중요 샘플링 기법이 내장된 실험 틀 설계)

  • This paper presents an importance sampling(IS) embedded experimental frame(EF) design for efficient Monte Carlo (MC) simulation. To achieve IS principles, the proposed EF contains two embedded sub-models, which are classified into Importance Sampler(IS) and Bias Compensator(BC) models. The IS and BC models stand between the existing system model and EF, which leads to enhancement of model reusability. Furthermore, the proposed EF enables to achieve fast stochastic simulation as compared with the crude MC technique. From the abstract two case studies with the utilization of the proposed EF, we can gain interesting experimental results regarding remarkable enhancement of simulation performance. Finally, we expect that this work will serve various content areas for enhancing simulation performance, and besides, it will be utilized as a tool to understand and analyze social phenomena.

  • 본 논문에서는 다수의 승강기들이 서로 협력하여 운영되는 대형 고층 빌딩의 승강기 시스템에 대해서 DEVS 형식론을 이용하여 모델링하고 시뮬레이션한다. 다수의 독립적으로 운영되는 승강기로 이루어진 기존의 승강기 시스템과는 달리, 제안된 시스템에서는 사용자의 요구에 따라 승강기의 스케쥴이 생성, 변경, 삭제되는 동적 스케쥴링 기능을 갖도록 하였다. 제안된 시스템은 승강기 시스템을 나타내는 ELEVATOR 모델과 시뮬레이션 수행에 필요한 실험장치인 EF 모델로 구성된다. ELEVATOR 모델은 빌딩을 나타내는 BUILD 모델, 승강기를 나타내는 ELEV 모델과 각 승가기의 스케쥴을 다이나믹하게 제어하는 SCHED 모델로 구성된다. EF 모델은 실험용 데이터를 생성하는 GENR 모델, 이동하는 승객의 데이터를 추적하고 결과를 수집하는 TRANSD 모델로 구성된다. 모델링된 시스템의 시뮬레이션을 위해 DEVSim++를 이용하여 구현하였다. DEVSim++는 DEVS 형식론을 C++로 구현한 것이다. 시뮬레이션을 통하여 제안된 시스템의 효율, 수행 시간을 기존의 승강기 시스템과 비교, 분석하였다.

Numerical analysis of the striation phenomena in an ac Plasma Display Panel using energy fluid model

  • We performed a discharge analysis on ac plasma display panel through the numerical simulation of the EF (Energy Fluid) model using the electron's energy equation. When it is compared to the results of commonly used LFA (Local Field Approximation) model, there is a clear difference in the spatiotemporal distribution of Xe excited species. In particular, the experimentally observed striation phenomena in the anode region could be observed in EF model and the occurrence of the striation was attributed to the ionization and excitation instability due to the streaming electrons in the anode region plasma.

Efficient Scheduling Algorithm for Supporting High Bandwidth Utilization and QoS In EPON (EPON에서의 높은 대역폭 사용효율과 QoS 지원을 위한 효율적인 스케줄링 알고리즘)

  • In recent year, EPON(Ethernet PON) system is expected to be more attractive solutions for high speed, broadband access networks in next generation access networks due to the conversionce of low-cost ethernet equipment and low-cost fiber infrastructure. Upstream channel control algorithm is essential to hare upstream bandwidth in EPON. In this paper, we suggest HUHG(High Utilization and Hybrid Granting) algorithm for supporting high bandwidth utilization and QoS for different service class. This algorithm improves bandwidth utilization as removing or diminishing idle time of upstream channel using characteristics of fixed EF(Expedited Forwarding) sub-cycle. The proposed algorithm also minimizes the packet delay and delay variation of EF class. We conduct detailed simulation experiments using OPNET to study the performance and validate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

  • It is difficult to satisfy the QoS(Quality of Service) guarantee which is required by real-time application services only with the Best-Effort(BE) service adopted in the current Internet. Therefore, worldwide research is being made on the method of QoS provisioning. Among them, the QoS guarantee mechanism using the Diffserv(Differentiated Service) was discussed in this paper. First we analyzed how the DiffServ performance was affected by traffic models. For this, we performed the research for the random, bursts, and self-similar traffic modeling method. We then designed and implemented an OPNET simulator, and performed the simulation 7d performance evaluation for diverse input parameters. Based on the results of performance evaluation, it was confirmed that QoS guarantee is possible for the EF(Expedited Forwarding) class with the DiffServ function under every environments considered and the service separation between EF and BE(Best Effort) classes is also possible. We also analyzed the performance variation and dynamic behavior of DiffServ mechanism based on the resource allocation between E? and BE classes in WFQ(Weighted Fair Queueing).

  • The nonlinear characteristics of a damper is directly related to the car behavior and performance, both for handling and comfort. So considering the nonlinear characteristics of a damper such as hysteresis is important to analyze the dynamic characteristics of a car suspension. In this study, a mathematical nonlinear dynamic damper model based on experimental data is devised to estimate the nonlinear parameters of a NEW EF-SONATA damper using the least square method. The devised nonlinear dynamic damper model is used to analyze the reaction force of a NEW EF-SONATA suspension using ADAMS. The simulation results are good agreement with the experimental data than those of the linear model.

Relationship between gross primary production and environmental variables during drought season in South Korea (가뭄 기간 총일차생산량과 환경 변수 간 상관관계 분석)

  • Water stress and environmental drivers are important factors to explain the variance of gross primary production (GPP). Environmental drivers are used to generate GPP in Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) algorithm and process-based model. However, MODIS algorithm only consider the vapor pressure deficit (VPD) data while the process-based biogeochemical model also uses limited data to express water stress. We compared the relationship between environmental drivers and GPP from eddy covariance method, MODIS algorithm, and Community Land Model 4 (CLM 4) simulation in normal years and drought years. To consider water stress specifically, we used VPD and evaporative fraction (EF). We evaluated the effects from environmental drivers and EF towards GPP products using the structural equation modeling (SEM) in South Korea. We found that GPP products from MODIS algorithm and model simulation results were not restricted from VPD data if VPD was underestimated. We also found that in the cropland area, irrigation effects can relieve VPD effects to GPP. However, GPP products derived from MODIS and CLM 4 had limitation to explain the irrigation effects to GPP. Overall, these results will enhance the understanding of GPP products derived from MODIS and CLM 4.

A Design of The PHB Mapping Model for Combining Services with DiffServ in The MPLS Network (멀티 프로토콜 레벨 스위칭망에서 DiffServ와의 서비스 결합을 위한 PHB 매핑모델 설계)

  • This study proposed the PHB mapping model for combining services with DiffServ in the MPLS network capable of high-speed switching, and the effective differential bandwidth service model in the MPLS network on the basis of the proposed mapping model. The result of simulation on the service model using PRI showed that the transmission rate was achieved as much as the assigned bandwidth regardless of the increase of traffic as far as the EF PHB did not exceed the assigned bandwidth at the peak rate when the overall traffic increased.

  • The key of USN(Ubiquitous Sensor Network) technology is low power wireless communication technology and proper resource allocation technology for efficient routing. The distinguished resource allocation method is needed for efficient routing in sensor network. To solve this problems, we propose an algorithm that can be adopted in USN with making up for weak points of PQ and WRR in this paper. The proposed algorithm produces the control discipline by the fuzzy theory to dynamically assign the weight of WRR scheduler with checking the Queue status of each class in sensor network. From simulation results, the proposed algorithm improves the packet loss rate of the EF class traffic to 6.5% by comparison with WRR scheduling method and that of the AF4 class traffic to 45% by comparison with PQ scheduling method.

  • This paper analyzes performance of major obstacle avoidance methods. For the analysis, numerical performance indexes are proposed: motion distance to goal point, motion time, distance to obstacles, and smoothness of the motion. Especially, the index of smoothness measures efficiency of the motion using the angular acceleration and jerk of the robot heading. Four major obstacle avoidance methods are compared in terms of the performance indexes. The four methods are artificial potential field(APF) method, elastic force(EF) method, APF with virtual distance, and EF with virtual distance. Through simulation, the four methods are compared and features of the methods are explored.
