Many companies are using EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) for the electronic transmission of documents and information to and from other companies. The appearance of Internet can enhance existing EDI systems. Existing EDI systems have several problems such as poor system interoperability and high expense of VAN. This paper prognoses a new EDI system utilizing Internet to provide open communication environment by using XML (extensible Markup language) and this applies it to the EDI service for Hospital Demand. XML is a mark-up language extending HTML which is a standard language for the expression of WWW (World-Wide Web) pages. XML is more structural than HTML, thus it is more suitable for the repetitive tasks of EDI and for the maintenance of databases. XML can transmit EDI documents in the open communication environment of Internet and users can easily access the documents with web browsers. Therefore we can provide EDI services within more open environment and we can build an EDI system with lower expense.

Electronic Data Interchange(EDI) has the potential to improve business operations by expediting the exchange of business documents. It will also provide substantive operational and strategic benefits to the trading firms. However, the successful implementation of EDI systems requires the mutual trust and cooperation between the trading firms. The extent of EDI diffusion and performance depends on inter-organizational, intra-organizational, as well as innovation factors. Researches based on the sociopolitical process framework in the use of IT, organizational theory, resource dependence theory, and innovation diffusion theory have identified 3 inter-organizational variables(transaction climate, dependence, external IS expert support) and 4 intra-organizational variables(strategic IS planning, infrastructure, top management support, education/training,), and 3 innovation variables(compatibility, relative advantage, cost) that affect EDI diffusion. In this study, a multi-dimensional measure on EDI diffusion has been developed to capture the external and internal integration. Then, the influence of these 10 variables on the extent to which the EDI adopting firms pursue diffusion has been examined. Whether more diffusion leads to superior performance has also been studied. International trade managers from 107 firms in the trade industry participated in a field survey. The results based on a structural equation model(SEM), developed using AMOS, provide quite a strong support for the hypothesized relations. Both education/training and IT infrastructure influenced external and internal diffusion of EDI systems. Internal diffusion of EDI enables the adopting firms to improve operational and strategic performance, whereas external diffusion contributes only to operational performance.

EDI is fast becoming the standard way of exchanging business documents, not only in this country but throughout the world. The purpose of EDI is currently being used for all the most common business transactions such as purchase orders, invoice, quotes, bill of lading, status reports, receiving advices; and also for some very specific transaction. Thus, the purpose of this study, by way of literature survey and survey research are to find the effectiveness in EDI Service of Clearance Physical. The model of the Trust Dimension and EDI Provider Loyalty in EDI Service of Clearance Physical is tested here using data from 163 samples. Based on the research model, a comprehensive set of hypotheses is formulated and a methodology for testing them is outlined. some of the hypotheses are tested empirically to demonstrate the applicability of the theoretical model. In examining the relationships of the Clearance EDI determinants factors, Trust and e-loyalty show in significantly by customs practice trust, clearance EDI, EDI provider trust and clearance EDI loyalty. but that show in not significantly by a list of names, EDI benevolence.

본 연구의 목적은 VAN에 기반한 EDI(Electronic Data Interchange) 트랜잭션을 사용하는 기업이 ebXML(e-business using XML), 로제타넷 (RosettaNet)이나 웹 서비스와 같은 웹 기반의 개방형 전자거래 프레임워크로 전환해 나갈 수 있도록 전략적인 지침을 제공하는 것이다. EDI가 가지고 있는 다양한 한계들과 웹 기술의 발전에 힘입어 많은 기업들이 인터넷 기반의 B2B 표준들을 채택하고자 한다. 그러나 이들은 기존의 EDI 시스템을 일시에 포기하지 않으면서도 점차적으로 B2B 프레임워크로 전환할 수 있는 방법을 찾고 있다. 따라서 이러한 상황에서 EDI 기업을 위한 효과적인 전환 전략과 지침을 마련하는 것은 매우 중요한 일이다. 본 연구에서 제시된 전략적 지침은 EDI 시스템으로부터 웹 기반의 e-비즈니스 프레임워크로 전환하고자 하는 기업에게 실제적인 가이드라인으로 사용될 수 있을 것이다.

Costs and times, resources was better decreased than former times because it had been introduced EDI(Electronic Data Interchange) system. Nevertheless, many problems has been raised as before, that is high costs and data re-using, the rapidly changing environment, etc. To solve these problems, it was attempted to introduce XML technology at traditional EDI System. From this point to view, 1 designed and implemented XML/EDI System based on Internet(Internet Messaging System) in this paper. And I selected some services as basic service among many services which is provided at XML/EDI System, that is message sending and message receiving, message retrieval. Other service of client system was composed of MapIn and MapOut module. MapIn Module is to parse the received XML Message and to store XML Data to RDB system. And MapOut module is to generate XML Message after extracting data from RDB system and to transfer XML Message to recipient. Hereby, XML/EDI System(XEDI System) provide document re-using, the various result(output) generation f3r various requirement and directly interface with DB. Therefore, This System(XEDI System) is more various and more flexible than the existing Messaging System that just provide transfer and retrieval service

The purpose of this study, based on a domestic sample of businesses using EDI systems, is to identify success factors, which affect the implementation of EDI system by Korean business entities. This paper also intends to provide useful guidelines for the establishment and management of EDI systems. This paper, first, develops a conceptual framework based on pervious research to identify factors which affect successful implementation of EDI system. Second, it integrates the constructs from previous research studies into a single survey instrument. Third, it presents the findings regarding the degree to which each factor influences the successful implementation of EDI system. It's revealed in the study that such factors as EDI vendor support, EDI education and training, participation by transactional partners, the size of organization, and the level of decentralization among organizational and environmental characteristics influence successful implementation of EDI systems in Korean business environment.

This study investigates a special class of Inter-Organizational Systems, Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) systems. The major objective of this research is to identify the factors that facilitate or inhibit the adoption of an EDI system. A research model is developed to investigate the research questions identified. The adoption of EDI systems is assumed to be affected by four contextual factors: 1. general characteristics of the industry in which a firm operates, 2. EDI-related industry characteristics, 3. general characteristics of the firm, and 4. information technology (IT) related firm characteristics. The findings of this study provide strong supporting evidence that most of the variables proposed and tested in the study are important factors affecting the adoption of EDI systems.

EDI는 현재, 기업과 기업간의 거래에서 종이없는 거래를 목표로 상거래 데이터를 전자 문서 형태로 교환하기 위한 새로운 방식으로 이용되고 있다. 그러나 기존의 EDI는 전용 프로토콜에 기반한 폐쇄적이고 복잡한 전자 문서 교환 방식을 채택하고 있으며, EDI에 관련한 법령과 제도가 미비할 뿐만 아니라 이의 도입 및 운영비용이 과다하여 실제로 사용하는 기업의 수가 그렇게 많지 않은 실정이다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 기존의 EDI가 갖는 문제점을 보완하기 위해 코드 형태의 전송 문서를 XML DTD로 표현하여 웹을 통해 비교적 저렴하게 문서를 전달할 수 있도록 하고, 객체지향 데이터베이스를 이용하여 보다 편리하고 효과적으로 정보를 관리하고 검색할 수 있도록 하는 개방형 EDI 문서 정보 관리 시스템(OEIMS: Opened EDI document Information Management system)을 제안한다. 제안된 OEIMS는 기존 시스템들과는 달리 EDI가 갖는 구조의 특성을 모듈식 설계로 다른 시스템에 비해 저장 및 관리에 효율적인 특성을 갖는다.

The telecommunications of previous years have been utilized for internal usages, but those in current years have widely extended even to usages for Interorganizational Information System(IOIS) beyond its internal uses. Electronic Data Interchange(EDI), a subsidiary form of IOIS which permits interorganizational electronical exchanges of transaction documents through the telecommunications networks between and among computers, is expected to bring forth various innovative results with improved efficiency and productivity through the improvement and simplification of transaction processes, And it became needed and significant to review studies with practical values and necessity. This study is implemented on the basis of a judgement that Korea businesses can improve some of their structural problems of high costs by successfully adopting and implementing EDI system in their organizations. And it's also realized that more studies on the related subjects will benefit and be valuable for various applications. The major objectives of this research is to identify factors influencing in the implementation of EDI system by Korean business entities. Business which already implementation EDI system in their organizations were subjected to the survey. Also, this study intended to identify variables influencing in the implementation of EDI system and further provide directions needed in establishing or managing EDI system.
