GIS 및 원격탐사기법을 이용한 북한산 국립공원 주변부의 추이대 탐지 (Detection of the ecotone Mt.Pukhansan National Park with GIS and remote sensing technologies)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 북한산 국립공원 경계선 일대의 추이대를 탐지하는 기법을 개발하여 추이대의 폭을 조사하고, 추이대의 폭과 환경요인과의 관계를 규명하는 것이다. 이를 위해서 1985, 1987, 1993년 5월 중순에 수신된 TM영상을 이용하여 계산한 정규식생지수(NDVI)를 도출하고, 버퍼링작업에 의하여 경계선으로 부터으 거리별 NDVI를 산출하여 추이대를 조사하는 방법을 제시하였다. 연구 결과 본 연구대상지의 추이대의 식생은 생물계절(phenology), 인접지역의 토지이용의 영향을 받는 것이 확인되었으며, 1993년에는 1985년에 비해서 추이대의 폭이 약 2배로 증대되어 탐방객의 과도한 이용 등으로 인하여 식생 피해지역의 범위가 확대되고 있는 것으로 판명되었다.

Comparisons of Fish Communities in Ledbetter Creek and Ledbetter Embayment of Kentucky Lake, Kentucky, USA

  • To determine if fish density, biomass, species richness, and species diversity were greater in ecotone than the stream and littoral zones, I sampled fish monthly in the Ledbetter Creek through Ledbetter Creek Embayment in Kentucky Lake, Kentucky, from April to October 1996 by using throw traps. During the first four months (daytime only) fish density did not vary significantly among zones or among months. However, there were significant differences among zones during the last three months and the stream zone had significantly higher mean fish density than both the littoral zone and the ecotone. Fish biomass also differed significantly among zones during the last three months. The stream zone had the highest mean fish biomass among zones, significantly higher than the ecotone, but not different than the littoral zone. There were no statistically significant differences among zones during the first four months, but mean fish biomass in the stream zone was about eight times higher than the ecotone, The stream zone had the highest fish species richness among zones. Differences were significant among zones during the last three months, and the stream zone (0.98 $\pm$ 0.04) had significantly greater mean fish species richness than the ecotone (0.45 $\pm$ 0.01), but not significantly than the littoral zone (0.56 $\pm$ 0.17). Fish species richness differed significantly among months during the first four months, Monthly species diversities ranged from 0.62 to 1.96 in the stream zone, 0 to a.57 in the ecotone, and 0 to 2.60 in the littoral zone. Combined species diversities in the stream, the ecotone , and the littoral zones were 2.72, 3.58, and 3.10, respectively, There were five families of fishes captured frequently enough for their individual numbers to comprise at least 8 % of the total. Family rankings in the stream zone were opposite of the littoral zone. Percidae was the most abundant family and Clupeidae was absent in the stream zone, whereas Percidae was uncommon and Clupeidae was the most abundant family in the littoral zone. Atherinidae was dominant in the ecotone. Five of the most abundant species comprised 65 % of the total number. The guardian darter occurred only in the stream zone, and it was consistently found in riffles. Longear sunfish and central stoneroller also had significant differences of mean fish densities among zones, and they were found mostly in the stream zone. Threadfin shad and bullhead minnow were almost exclusively caught in the littoral zone. I finally concluded that the ecotone between the stream and the littoral zone in this small-scale freshwater aquatic ecosystem was not as productive as the ones in other ecosystems.

섬에서 에코톤으로-경계중첩지대로서의 자연인식과 생태비평적 함의 (From Island to Ecotone: Nature Recognition as Boundary Crossed and Ecocritical Implication)

  • Based on its geophysical feature, the island has long been recognized as a separate and self-sustaining space independent of neighboring continent or other islands. Literary tradition has used the island as a metaphor for a utopian alternative to mundane human society with its various kinds of wrongdoings. Recent nature writings have taken up this island metaphor to emphasize the wholeness of the ecosystem in specifically designated natural community or landscapes such as national parks or wilderness preservation areas. Human-nature relations as border-divided area is also recognized as the island. Modern island biogeography, however, has disproved such a concept of islands as autonomous, revealing the contrasting fact that the richness of species on an undisturbed island is determined largely by species immigration from and emigration to a source of colonists. This scientific finding has posited the island as the interconnected nature, but the public and metaphoric use of it still resorts to the old concept of it as isolated and autonomous nature, because this image has been ingrained deeply in our consciousness and culture. Considering the negative consequences from the recognition of nature and nature-humans as isolated space, we need a new nature metaphor that embodies interconnectedness in nature and of human-nature relations. Such feature of interconnectedness is best embedded in the concept of ecotone. Some ecotones are created and maintained through human participation in nature, and this human induced nature of ecotone denotes the possibilities of a constructive relation between them. The substitution of the island with the ecotone as the concept of nature and the image of human-nature relations is expected to correct ecocritical practices of reading of nature writing, which has been predominantly interpreted within the orientation of nature itself and nature-human relations as an isolated and self-autonomous island. Adopting the ecotone in literary study enables ecocriticism to dig out cultural elements embedded in nature writing and reveal socio-political, ideological factors hidden behind the writers' portrayal of nature as islands.

월출산 국립공원 추이대 군락의 수직적 분포를 통해 본 지구 온난화의 영향과 금후의 천이 가능성 (Influences of Global Warming and Succession Possibility through Vertical Distribution of Communities in Ecotone, Wolchulsan National Park)

  • This study aims at classifying and interpreting on the vegetation structure and analyzing the correlationship between communities and environmental conditions in Mt. Wolchulsan. We also predicted the succession possibility and the vertical distribution change of vegetations according to the global warming, through the pioneer species of a forest change and dominant species of canopy vegetations. We also analyzed the Raunkiaer's life-form. The communities in this ecotone are distributed vertically in the order of a Quercus acuta community, a Q. serrata-Q. variabilis community and a Q. serrata community. A Pinus densiflora community appears on the most of altitudes. The distribution of communities correlates highly with an altitude. The Q. serrata-Q. variabilis community will be succession to the Q. acuta community, and the Q. variabilis will be under natural selection gradually or remain locally. The Q. serrata community will possibly maintain as it is, and the P. densiflora community will be also under natural selection gradually. The valuable quantitative and numerical life-forms are confirmed and the layer structure of present vegetation will not be changed.

TVI-거리함수를 이용한 서부 DMZ 및 민통지역의 생태적 보전폭원 조사 (Ecological Buffer Analysis of Western DMZ and Vicinity using Logistic Function Derived from TVI-Distance Curve)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 서부지역 비무장지대(DMZ) 및 주변지역인 민통지역의 생태적 보전가치를 파악해 보며, 적정한 생태보전권역을 조사해보는데 있다. 군사분계선을 중심으로 남북 각각 10km 지역에 대해 500m 폭원의 지역에 대하여 변환식생지수(transformed vegetation index: TVI)를 이용하여 평균 식생활력도 값을 계산한 후, 거리에 따른 식생활력도 변화 양상을 파악해보았다. 또한 이렇게 분석된 결과가 로지스틱 곡선을 그릴 것으로 가정하고, 이를 이용하여 식생지수-거리함수식을 유도하여 식생활력도의 변화지역인 전이지대(ecotone)의 폭원을 분석하였으며, 식생지수값 및 전이지대 폭원을 고려하여 생태축으로서의 DMZ 및 완충지역의 적정 보전폭원을 제시해보았다. 분석결과, 첫째, 서부지역 DMZ 및 민통지역 전 지역의 TVI 분석결과 남한측이 높게 나타났으며, 남측의 경우 감소하던 TVI 값이 남한측 민통선을 지나면서 그 값의 변화가 거의 없는 것으로 나타났으며, 북한측의 경우 DMZ 내부에서부터 식생지수값이 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. TVI값을 비교해 보아도 남한측은 최소값 207.16에 최대값 221.92에 이르지만, 북한측은 최소값이 188.35에 최대값이 215.32로 나타나고 있어, 북한측의 식생활력도값이 보다 낮게 나타나고 있음을 알 수 있다. 셋째, TVI-거리함수의 예측회귀식을 이용하여 계산해본 결과, 서부DMZ 남한지역의 경우 핵심보전지역과 완충지역(전이지대)을 포함하는 생태보전 폭원은 7,651m에 이르며, 서부DMZ 북한지역의 경우, 생태적으로 보전해야할 지역의 폭원은 6,855m으로 계산되었다. 하지만 TVI값의 분포가 서로 다르며, 북한측 TVI 식생활력도가 불규칙한 로지스틱 곡선을 그리고 있어, 남한과 북한을 비교하여 분석하기는 어려움을 따른다. 하지만 서부DMZ 북한지역의 경우 DMZ 내부에서 이미 TVI값이 점차적으로 감소하고 있어, 북한측의 경우 DMZ내부라고 하더라고 많은 간섭이 이루어지고 있음을 유추해볼 수 있다.

곤충류 공간 분포를 활용한 농경지 경관구조 분석 (Landscape Structure Analysis Based on Insect Spatial Distribution in Rural Area)

  • Landscape structure is important to understand a complex patterns and interaction with adjacent habitat in rural area. The aim of this study is to analyze relationship between landscape structure and insect spatial distribution in rural area to suggest applicable possibility of landscape structure as biological indicator. For this purpose, first, four landscape structure criteria such as distance from the forest; density of farmland-forest ecotone; landscape continuity; and field size are selected. Secondly, these criteria are applied to Gangsang-myeon, Yangpyeong-gun where mosaic feature are conserved at various spatial scale. Thirdly, application of landscape structure criteria is verified using correlation with species number, species diversity, and species richness of insect. As a result, it could be suggested that the landscape structure criteria are useful for explaining insect spatial distribution.

지구온난화를 고려한 지리산 국립공원 내 사찰림의 식생구조 연구 (Study of Vegetation Structure about Shrine Forest in Jirisan National Park with Regard to Global Warming)

  • This study aims at classifying and interpreting on the shrine forest vegetation located in Jirisan national park affiliated to an ecotone in southern part of Korea, foreseeing a vegetation change based on composition species and dominant species on canopy, and proposing the direction of vegetation management. The shrine forests were classified into the 7 community units as Chamaecyparis obtusa-Cryptomeria japonica afforestation, Pinus densiflora community, Pinus rigida afforestation, Quercus variabilis-Quercus serrata community, Zelkova serrata-Kerria japonica for. japonica community, Phyllostachys bambusoides forest, Camellia japonica community. This research is also expatiated on the analogous results of ordination analysis with phytosociological analysis. The constituents of deciduous broad-leaved forest in the warm temperate zone were appeared in the most vegetations. It emerged less that the constituents of evergreen broad-leaved forest in the warm-temperate zone and deciduous broad-leaved forest in the cold-temperature zone. The life form analyses were made use with the two ways: appearance species in total communities and each community. The species diversity of shrine forests is declined because the high dominances of Sasa borealis and Pseudosasa japonica emerged in the shrub and herb layers. These shrine forests will be succession to Q. variabilis-Q. serrata community as the representative vegetation of deciduous broad-leaved forest in the warm-temperate zone, owing to the temperature rise by global warming, and an evergreen broad-leaved forest will be able to be also formed if a temperate rise will be continued. The one of the artificial management of shrine forests is to consider the introduction of the constituents of evergreen broad-leaved forest in the warm-temperate zone.

추이대 2차림의 식생구조 분석과 온난화에 따른 식생의 변화 예측에 대한 연구 - 두륜산을 중심으로 - (Studies of Vegetation Structure Analysis and Anticipation of Vegetation Change due to Global Warming on Secondary Forest in Ecotone)

  • 본 연구는 식물사회학적 연구방법에 의해 추이대에 속하는 두륜산 일대의 삼림식생을 분류하고, 삼림식생단위와 환경과의 상관관계를 분석하여 온난화에 따른 식생의 수평적 변화를 구성종과 상관식생의 우점종을 통해 예측하는 것을 목적으로 수행하였다. 삼림식생은 졸참나무-굴참나무군락, 붉가시나무-황칠나무군락, 편백나무식재림 등 3개의 군락단위로 구분되었다. 각 삼림군락의 분포와 환경 요인들과의 상관 관계를 분석하였던 바, 모든 삼림군락에서 출현한 동백나무군강의 식별종, 구분종, 난온대성 낙엽활엽수림의 구성종 요소, 상관식생의 주요종을 통하여 낙엽활엽수림인 졸참나무-굴참나무군락은 굴참나무가 상대적으로 높은 출현율을 보이는 지역부터 점차 상록활엽수림으로 천이가 이루질 것으로 예측된다.
