An Analysis of t he Uses of EBS Lectures for the CSAT and the Reducing Effects of Private Educational Expenditures (EBS 수능강의 활용 실태 및 사교육비 억제 효과 분석)

  • In this study, we conducted a survey on 12,000 parents of general high school students to analyze the users of EBS lectures the CSAT(College Scholastic Ability Test) and the reducing effect of private educational expenditures. Most of parents encouraged their children to study the EBS lectures, and actually the students listened to the EBS lectures. Also, there were a lot of suggestions which the EBS lectures helped to reduce private educational expenditures. 25% of whole respondent was reduced their private education expense, and 65% of them answered that educational opportunities were provided uniformly by the EBS lectures. Finally many of them opposed to the monetization of EBS lectures with internet.

Vocabulary Analysis of Listening and Reading Texts in 2020 EBS-linked Textbooks and CSAT (2020년 EBS 연계교재와 대학수학능력시험의 듣기 및 읽기 어휘 분석)

  • The present study aims to investigate lexical coverage of BNC (British National Corpus) word lists and 2015 Basic Vocabulary of Ministry of Education in 2020 EBS-linked textbooks and CSAT. For the data analysis, AntWordProfiler was used to find lexical coverage and frequency. The findings showed that Students can understand 95% of the tokens with a vocabulary of BNC 3,000 and 4,000 word-families in 2020 EBS-linked listening and reading books respectively. 98% can be understood with 4,000 word-families in the EBS-linked listening book while the same lexical coverage can be covered with 8,000 word-families in the EBS-linked reading textbook. By the way, 95% of the tokens can be understood with 2,000 and 4,000 word-families in 2020 CSAT listening and reading tests respectively, while 98% requires 4,000 and 7,000 word-families in the 2020 listening and reading tests respectively. In summary, students should understand more words in 2020 EBS-linked textbooks than in 2020 CSAT tests confirming Kim's (2016) findings. The Effects of Environmental Class Using EBS Program on Environmental Sensitivity and Environmental Responsible Behavior of Elementary School Students (EBS 프로그램을 활용한 환경수업이 초등학생의 환경감수성 및 환경책임행동에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of environmental classes using EBS program on the environmental sensitivity and environmentally responsible behavior of 6th grade elementary school students. To this end, the 2015 revised elementary school curriculum was reconstructed for 6th grade students, and subject-centered environmental classes were planned, and EBS educational broadcasting environmental contents suitable for each class were applied and utilized. The conclusion of this study is as follows. First, this study analyzed the 2015 revised curriculum and reorganized the 6th grade curriculum and creative experience activities to plan the 22nd environmental class, specifying environmental sensitivity and environmentally responsible behavior that can have a positive impact on learners in each class. EBS educational broadcasting environmental contents that can be utilized were selected and environmental classes were conducted using them. Second, it was found that environmental classes using EBS educational broadcasting had a significant effect on improving the environmental sensitivity of elementary school students. The fact that environmental classes using EBS educational broadcasting goes beyond the spatial limitations of schools and informs that global citizens are interested in environmental problems and are working to solve environmental problems. Third, it was found that environmental classes using EBS educational broadcasting had a significant effect on elementary school students' environmentally responsible behavior. This is because environmental classes using EBS educational broadcasting do not stop at imparting knowledge, but suggest learning that leads to civic behavior, educational behavior, economic behavior, physical behavior, and persuasive behavior related to the environment.

  • 현존 최고의 효율 특성을 나타내고 있는 PERL 전지와 유사한 구조를 갖는 PM 전지와 에피텍셜 베이스구조를 갖는 새로운 Si EBS 태양전지를 제작하여 이들의 효율특성을 비교 분석하였다. 본 실험에서 EBS 전지는 이미터 표면의 형상에 따라 EBS-T 전지와 EBS-P 전지로 구분되고 있다. EBS-T 전지는 EBS-P 전지에 비해 약 15%, PIN 전지에 비해 약 60%의 효율 개선 효과가 있었다.

  • The objectives of this study were to inquiry of application types and use methodology of EBS-CSAT prep books of vocation education division in specialized vocational high schools. Research participants are 8 specialized vocational high school teachers in Seoul and Gyeonggi, and subjects are basic industry and basic drawing. The teachers had using EBS-CSAT prep books in class or after-school. The results are as follows: The teachers used items explanation of after-school rather than regular classes using EBS-CSAT prep books of vocation education division in specialized vocational high schools. Online lectures were used for self-directed learning of specialized vocational high school students rather than regular classes. Students and teachers of specialized vocational high school needed EBS-CSAT prep books of vocation education division by free gift instead of EBS-CSAT prep books of Korea language, english, math.

A Study on the Analysis and Improvements of the EBSi (EBSi 이용 현황 분석을 통한 개선 방안 연구)

  • This study aims at an objective analysis of the EBS lecture program for the national scholastic achievement examination (NSAE) that started from April 1, 2004. To this end, it obtained and analyzed related data which are archived in the EBS NSAE lecture system under the assistance from EBS. More specifically, it analyzed the practices of lecturer placement and student members. Also, the practices of use of lectures were analyzed by years, and the economical value from the use of the EBS NSAE lecture program was estimated through the comparison with the level of tuitions for private online institutes. In addition, this study diagnosed the properness in counselor placement through an analysis of the use of the web forum, and analyzed the practices of the nonsul (essay-type examination) program in order to identify the coping strategies of EBS with regard to the introduction of a new system for 2008 university entrance system. As a result of the analysis, this study presents various ways to improve the EBS NSAE lecture program.

An Empirical Study on the Effects of Private Tutoring and EBS Engagement on Mathematics Achievement (사교육 경험과 EBS 방송 시청이 수학성취도에 미치는 영향에 대한 실증연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the existing studies about the effect on private tutoring and EBS broadcasting which is considered as the alternative which was presented by education authorities. And this study attempts to measure the degree of the effects of private tutoring and EBS engagement on mathematics achievement using various quantitative methodologies. T-test and OLS multiple regression indicates some selection-bias which has positive direction compared to the PSM method closed to experimental design. So, it will be required to consider the methodology which measures the exact effect of institution or participation when we conduct the observational studies.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics of diverse contents service of EBS providing on the multi-platform in the era of smart media. This study investigated contents service of EBS in order to seek and suggest EBS's competitiveness in the era of smart media environment. As a result, EBS is providing real-time service, VOD and e-learning, but its current contents service is concentrated on providing e-learning service. This study recommended that EBS need to reinforce contents suitable for various multi-platform uses. It also suggested EBS need to cooperate with diverse webs service and SNS service in order to widen openness of its platform, and to provide not only diverse contents, but also applications by offering mobile and on-demand contents and services. Finally, this study proposed that EBS is needed to move towards a more public and comprehensive media portal.

Initial Experience of the Emergency Bypass System ($EBS^{(R)}$) for the Patients with Cardiogenic Shock due to an Acute Myocardial Infarction (급성 심근경색으로 인한 심인성 쇼크 환자에 대한 경피적 순환 보조장치($EBS^{(R)}$) 적용의 초기경험)

  • Background: Percutaneous cardiopulmonary support. (PCPS) has the potential to rescue patients in cardiogenic shock who might otherwise die. PCPS has been a therapeutic option in a variety of the clinical settings such as for patients with myocardial Infarction, high-risk coronary intervention and postcardiotomy cardiogenic shock, and the PCPS device is easy to install. We report our early experience with PCPS as a life saving procedure in cardiogenic shock patients due to acute myocardial infarction. Material and Method: From January 2005 to December 2006, eight patients in cardiogenic shock with acute myocardial infarction underwent PCPS using the CAPIOX emergency bypass system($EBS^{(R)}$, Terumo, Tokyo, Japan). Uptake cannulae were inserted deep into the femoral vein up to the right atrium and return cannulae were inserted into the femoral artery with Seldinger techniques using 20 and 16-French cannulae, respectively. Simultaneously, autopriming was performed at the $EBS^{(R)}$ circuit. The $EBS^{(R)}$ flow rate was maintained between $2.5{\sim}3.0L/min/m^2$ and anticoagulation was performed using intravenous heparin with an ACT level above 200 seconds. Result: The mean age of patients was $61.1{\pm}14.2$ years (range, 39 to 77 years). Three patients were under control of the $EBS^{(R)}$ before percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), three patients were under control of the $EBS^{(R)}$ during PCI, one patient was under control of the $EBS^{(R)}$ after PCI, and one patient was under control of the $EBS^{(R)}$ after coronary bypass surgery. The mean support time was $47.5{\pm}27.9$ hours (range, 8 to 76 hours). Five patients (62.5%) could be weaned from the $EBS^{(R)}$ after $53.6{\pm}27.2$ hours. (range, 12 to 68 hours) of support. All of the patients who could successfully be weaned from support were discharged from the hospital. There were three complications: one case of gastrointestinal bleeding and two cases of acute renal failure. Two of the three mortality cases were under cardiac arrest before $EBS^{(R)}$ support, and one patient had an intractable ventricular arrhythmia during the support. All of the discharged patients are still surviving at $16.8{\pm}3.1$ months (range, 12 to 20 months) of follow-up. Conclusion: The use of $EBS^{(R)}$ for cardiogenic shock caused by an acute myocardial infarction could rescue patients who might otherwise have died. Successfully recovered patients after $EBS^{(R)}$ treatment have survived without severe complications. More experience and additional clinical investigations are necessary to elucidate the proper installation timing and management protocol of the $EBS^{(R)}$ in the future.
