  • In this paper, we implemented a HF-band magnetic-field communication system consisting of an amplitude shift keying(ASK) transmitter, a pair of loop antennas, and an ASK receiver. Especially, we suggested a new ASK transmitter architecture, where a drain bias of class E amplifier is switched alternatively between two voltage levels with respect to input data. A maximum 5 W class E amplifier was designed using a low cost IRF510 power MOSFET at the frequency of 6.78 MHz. A measured sensitivity of the designed ASK receiver is -78 dBm, which consists of a log amplifier, a filter, and a comparator. Maximum communication range of magnetic-wave communication system with loop antennas was calculated using magnetic field equations in both near-field and far-field ranges. Also, in order to verify the calculated values, an indoor propagation loss was measured using a pair of loop antennas whose dimensions are $30{\times}30cm$. Maximum operating range is estimated about 35 m in case of transmitter's output power of 1 W and receiver sensitivity of -70 dBm, respectively. Finally, the communication field test using the designed ASK transmitter and receiver was successfully done at the distance of 5 m.

  • In wireless smart phone charging scenario, the transmitter pad is larger than the size of the receiver pad. Thus, it is important to supply a constant power to the receiver regardless of its location. In this paper, we propose a new method to regulate the receiver's power by adjusting a drain bias of class E power amplifier. The proposed LF-band wireless power transfer system is as follows: a buck converter power supply which is controlled by a pulse width modulation(PWM) IC TL494, a class E amplifier using a low cost IRF510 power MOSFET, a transmitter coil whose dimension is $16cm{\times}18cm$, a receiver coil whose dimension is $6cm{\times}8cm$, and a full bridge rectifier using Schottky diodes. A measured performance show a maximum output power of 4 W and system efficiency of 67 % if we fix the bias voltage. If we adjust the bias voltage, the received power can be maintained at a constant power of 2 W regardless of receiver pad location.

  • In this paper, the generation of the intensive ultrasonic waves depend mainly on the energy convention efficiency depending on high frequency oscillation of the generator and the control performance of stable output depending on iode variation. As a result, the ultrasonic generator obtained of 95% differency with 28khz.

  • This paper presents an exant analysis of the class E tuned power amplifier with a shunt inductor. The following performance parameters are determined for optimum operation with any switch duty ratio: the collector current and voltage waveforms, the peak values of collector current and voltage, the output power, the power output capability, and the values of the load network elements. The analysis shows that the maximum power output capability occurs at a duty ratio of 50 percent. The measured collector efficiency of experiments is 93 percent with 0.93W at 1MHz. This amplifier is especially applicable at portable transmitters because its colletor efficiency is extremely high.

  • Recently, wireless power transmission system is gradually extended to technology in various fields such as lighting field, electric vehicles and smartphones wireless charging system. The largest of the two elements for high transmission efficiency of the wireless power transmission system are resonant coils and power amplifiers. In this paper, in order to build a high efficient wireless power transmission system, we introduce the resonance coil manufacturing method and high efficiency power amplifier design method that operates at 6.78MHz.

  • In this paper, a new 1 kW power amplifier with high efficiency and high stability in a RF generator is designed and fabricated for plasma applications. The efficiency of power amplifier is improved by using class-E amplifier that consists of one push-pull MOSFET and high current drive IC instead of class-C amplifier composed of several single ended MOSFET. Switchable damper that allows selecting three different modes of amplifiers for considering efficiency and stability is added into the amplifier for plasma applications. Stable region of an early electronic discharge section is extended to VSWR of 4.5:1 compared to conventional VSWR of 3.8:1 through using switchable damper. The dimension of the amplifier is also reduced to 30 % of conventional amplifier. The 80 % efficiency of power amplifier with switchable damper is obtained the output power of 1 kW in operating frequency of 13.56 MHz. In comparison of conventional power amplifier for plasma applications, 13 % efficiency is improved.

  • This letter presents a selective wireless power transfer architecture using a reconfigurable multi-port amplifier. The proposed wireless power transfer architecture is composed of a phase shifter part controlled by FPGA, two class-E power amplifiers, a four-port power combiner and two coil loads. Depending on the phase control of FPGA, the power ratio of outputs at the two coil loads becomes 1:1, 2:0 and 0:2. The manufactured system has delivered 1W DC power to loads at 125 kHz. The total DC-to-DC conversion efficiency shows more than 40 % including PA efficiency of 79 %.

  • High-efficiency switched-mode circuits such as the class-E amplifier are well-known in the MHz frequency range. The class-E amplifier is a type of switching mode amplifier offering very high efficiency approaching 100%. In this paper of the class-E amplifier by using pHEMT device, the design has been done theoretically and experimentally, with simulation by using the harmonic balance method using circuit simulator. The amplifier using microstrip circuit and the pHEMT demonstrate 66% power-added- efficiency (PAE) at 2.4GHz with 17.6dBm of output power.

  • Bio-implantable devices such as heart pacers, gastric pacers and drug-delivery systems require power for carrying out their intended functions. These devices are usually powered through a battery implanted with the system or are wired to an external power source. This paper describes an inductive power transmission link, which was developed for an implantable stimulator for direct stimulation of denervated muscles. The carrier frequency is around 1MHz, the transmitter coil has a diameter of 46mm, and the implant coil is 46mm. Data transmission to the implant with amplitude shift keying (ASK) and back to the transmitter with passive telemetry can be added without major design changes. We chose the range of coil spacing (2 to 30mm) to care for lateral misalignment, as it occurs in practical use. If the transmitter coil has a well defined and reliable position in respect to the implant, a smaller working range might be sufficient. Under these conditions the link can be operated in fixed frequency mode, and reaches even higher efficiencies of up to 37%. The link transmits a current of 50 mA over a distance range of 2-15 mm with an efficiency of more than 20% in tracking frequency. The efficiency of the link was optimized with different approaches. A class E transmitter was used to minimize losses of the power stage. The geometry and material of the transmitter coil was optimized for maximum coupling. Phase lock techniques were used to achieve frequency tracking, keeping the transmitter optimally tuned at different coupling conditions caused by coil distance variations.
