  • As the first step to the dynamic stress analysis of structures, transient responses of a Timoshenko beam with variable section subject to impact load are analyzed. According to the various characteristics of impact load, time histories of the transient response of Timoshenko beam with general boundary conditions are obtained and compared with those of one degree of freedom system. Numerical solutions of the governing equations of motion are calculated by adopting the equivalent lumped-mass system and the finite difference method. It is found that the dynamic responses of Timshenko beam depend on the effect of concentration and location of impact load. As a result, increasing tendency of fluctuation in dynamic response, especially in bending moment, is found according to the increase of load concentration factor in time and space.

  • Transient and quasi-steady-state vertical vibrations of a multi-span beam steel bridge located on a single-track railway line are considered, induced by a superfast passenger train, moving at speed 120-360 km/h. Matrix dynamic equations of motion of a simplified model of the system are formulated partly in the implicit form. A recurrent-iterative algorithm for solving these equations is presented. Excessive vibrations of the system in the resonant zones are reduced effectively with passive dynamic absorbers, tuned to the first mode of a single bridge span. The dynamic analysis has been performed for a series of types of bridges with span lengths of 10 to 30 m, and with parameters closed to multi-span beam railway bridges erected in the second half of the $20^{th}$ century.

  • A shape optimization of a rib of a bolster of a bogie frame is attempted and a dimension optimization on upper and lower plates is also carried out for the reduction of the weight of bogie frame. In addition, the dynamic characteristics of the weight reduced model are investigated by an analysis of a natural frequency and a transient analysis. The results show that the first natural frequency of an optimized model is larger than that of the lowest design value. And the results of transit analysis based on the experimental stress also show smaller value than the yield stress. Thus the optimized model attempted in this study is considered to be structurally stable and useful for the improvement of railway carriages.

  • The static characteristic of a piezoelectric beam is for finding resonance frequency of the beam. In practice, it is required to analyze the beam with external command circuit including capacitors, inductors, and resistors for control. It means that the proper analysis of a piezoelectric beam with external command circuit is required by a dynamic analysis. We can also got transient and steady-state solution from the analysis. In this paper, the static and dynamic characteristic of the piezoelectric beam using FEM(Finite Element Method) are proposed.

  • In this work, thermoelastic dynamic behavior of functionally graded carbon nanotube reinforced composite (FG-CNTRC) cylinders subjected to mechanical pressure loads, uniform temperature environment or thermal gradient loads is investigated by a mesh-free method. The material properties and thermal stress wave propagation of the nanocomposite cylinders are derived after solving of the transient thermal equation and obtaining of the time history of temperature field of the cylinders. The nanocomposite cylinders are made of a polymer matrix and wavy single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs). The volume fraction of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are assumed variable along the radial direction of the axisymmetric cylinder. Also, material properties of the polymer and CNT are assumed temperature-dependent and mechanical properties of the nanocomposite are estimated by a micro mechanical model in volume fraction form. In the mesh-free analysis, moving least squares shape functions are used to approximate temperature and displacement fields in the weak form of motion equation and transient thermal equation, respectively. Also, transformation method is used to impose their essential boundary conditions. Effects of waviness, volume fraction and distribution pattern of CNT, temperature of environment and direction of thermal gradient loads are investigated on the thermoelastic dynamic behavior of FG-CNTRC cylinders.

  • Most dynamic systems have are known to various random properties in excitation and system parameters. In this paper, a procedure for response analysis is proposed for the linear dynamic system with random properties in both excitation and system parameters. The system parameters and responses with random properties are modeled by perturbation technique, and then response analysis is formulated by probabilistic and vibration theories. And probabilistic FEM is also used for the calculation of mean response which is difficult by the proposed response model. As an applicative example, the transient response is considered for systems of single degree of freedom with random mass and spring constant subjected to stationary white-noise excitation and the results are compared to those of numerical simulation.

  • Responses of the cabinet of the reactor safety system under seismic leadings are analyzed, its dynamic characteristics and structural reliability being evaluated. Analyzed natural frequencies are compared with those measured from a resonance test. Structural safety of the cabinet is evaluated in consideration of the required response spectrums of the operation-base and safe-shutdown earthquakes. Transient responses of the cabinet are analyzed with input ground acceleration measured during the seismic test, accelerations being extracted at the locations of the main internal parts. The transient responses are compared with those from the seismic test, favorable results being shown.

  • Dynamic simulation program for a smart UAV turbojet engine was developed. The transient simulation program utilized the CMP(Constant Mass flow) method and Euler integration method for integration of excess torque. The transient performance analysis was carried out by increasing from the idle to the maximum rotational speed of the gas generator. To observe engine dynamic behavior, fuel flow was monitored through a step and a ramp increase. When the fuel was increased as a step function the overshoot of the turbine inlet temperature exceeded the limit temperature.

  • One of the moot important constants to be Installed In COLSS, a monitoring system in CE typed reactors, is ROPM which would limit the operating space. This static ROPM was calculated from digital transient analysis assuming that every design basis transient was initiated from the most severe initial condition combination (LCO). Once It could be assured that core condition would not be located at none other than LCO, this static ROPM could be replaced with dynamic ROPM calculated at that condition and the dynamic ROPM would be definitely less than the static ROPM. In order to do, It must be required to calculate the transient discrete sensitivity parameters and parameters change distribution. The purpose of this report is just to propose the enlargement method for thermal margin.
