Two new elements with six degrees of freedom are proposed by applying the equilibrium conditions and strain-displacement equations. The first element is formulated for the infinite ratio of beam radius to thickness. In the second one, theory of the thick beam is used. Advantage of these elements is that by utilizing only one element, the exact solution will be obtained. Due to incorporating equilibrium conditions in the presented formulations, both proposed elements gave the precise internal forces. By solving some numerical tests, the high performance of the recommended formulations and also, interaction effects of the bending and axial forces will be demonstrated. While the second element has less error than the first one in thick regimes, the first element can be used for all regimes due to simplicity and good convergence. Based on static responses, it can be deduced that the first element is efficient for all the range of structural characteristics. The free vibration analysis will be performed using the first element. The results of static and dynamic tests show no deficiency, such as, shear and membrane locking and excessive stiff structural behavior.
This paper proposes a new nonlocal higher-order hyperbolic shear deformation beam theory (HSBT) for the static bending and vibration of nanoscale-beams. Eringen's nonlocal elasticity theory is incorporated, in order to capture small size effects. In the present model, the transverse shear stresses account for a hyperbolic distribution and satisfy the free-traction boundary conditions on the upper and bottom surfaces of the nanobeams without using shear correction factor. Employing Hamilton's principle, the nonlocal equations of motion are derived. The governing equations are solved analytically for the edges of the beam are simply supported, and the obtained results are compared, as possible, with the available solutions found in the literature. Furthermore, the influences of nonlocal coefficient, slenderness ratio on the static bending and dynamic responses of the nanobeam are examined.
Based on the dynamic tests of recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) short columns confined by the hoop reinforcement, the dynamic failure mechanism and the mechanical parameters related to the constitutive relation of confined recycled aggregate concrete (CRAC) were investigated thoroughly. The fracturing sections were relatively flat and smooth at higher strain rates rather than those at a quasi-static strain rate. With the increasing stirrup volume ratio, the crack mode is transited from splitting crack to slipping crack constrained with large transverse confinement. The compressive peak stress, peak strain, and ultimate strain increase with the increase of stirrup volume ratio, as well as the increasing strain rate. The dynamic confining increase factors of the compressive peak stress, peak strain, and ultimate strain increase by about 33%, 39%, and 103% when the volume ratio of hoop reinforcement is increased from 0 to 2%, but decrease by about 3.7%, 4.2%, and 9.1% when the stirrup spacing is increased from 20mm to 60mm, respectively. This sentence is rephrased as follows: When the stirrup volume ratios are up to 0.675%, and 2%, the contributions of the hoop confinement effect to the dynamic confining increase factors of the compressive peak strain and the compressive peak stress are greater than those of the strain rate effect, respectively. The dynamic confining increase factor (DCIF) models of the compressive peak stress, peak strain, and ultimate strain of CRAC are proposed in the paper. Through the confinement of the hoop reinforcement, the ductility of RAC, which is generally slightly lower than that of NAC, is significantly improved.
It is well known that the behavior of R /C members under static cyclic loading is somewhat
different from that under dynamic cyclic loading, such as earthquake loading, because static
loading rate is substantially lower than that corresponding to the Frequencies of seismic excitation.
The purpose of this research is to estabilish the reliance for modeling techniques of small-scale
specirr~ens subjected to dynamic cyclic loading.
This research focused on the similitude requirements for reinforced concrete frame structures
subjeced to dynamic cyclic loading. Length scale ratio of specimens were 1 : 2 : 4, and eleven
specimens were tested at the frequencies of 0.0025Hz-2.OHz.
It was confirmed that rnode1ir.g techniques based on the similitude requirements were useful
methods to evaluate the behavior of full-size R /C structures subjected to earthquake type
loading.

Concrete filled steel tube (CFT) columns have been widely used in moment resisting frame structures both in seismic zones. This paper discusses the design of such members based on the advanced methods introduced in the 2005 AISC Specification and the 2005 Seismic Provisions. This study focuses particularly on design following both linear and nonlinear methods utilizing equivalent static and dynamic loads for low-rise moment frames. The paper begins with an examination of the significance of pseudo-elastic design interaction equations and the plastic ductility demand ratios due to combined axial compressive force and bending moment in CFT members. Based on advanced computational simulations for a series of five-story composite moment frames, this paper then investigates both building performance and new techniques to evaluate building damage during a strong earthquake. It is shown that 2D equivalent static analyses can provide good design approximations to the force distributions in moment frames subjected to large inelastic lateral loads. Dynamic analyses utilizing strong ground motions generally produce higher strength ratios than those from equivalent static analyses, but on more localized basis. In addition, ductility ratios obtained from the nonlinear dynamic analysis are sufficient to detect which CFT columns undergo significant deformations.

Previous QoS-aware service composition methods mainly focus on how to generate composite service with the optimal QoS efficiently for a single request. However, in the real application scenarios, there are multiple service requests and multiple service providers. It is more important to compose services with suboptimal QoS and maintain the load balance between services. To solve this problem, in this paper, we propose a service composition method, named as dynamically change and balancing composition method (DCBC). It assumes that the QoS of service is not static, and the services can adjust the value of QoS to gain more opportunities to be selected for composition. The method mainly includes two steps, which are the preprocessing step and the service selection step. In the preprocessing step, a backward global best QoS calculation is performed which regarding the static and dynamic QoS respectively; then guided by the global QoS, the feasible services can be selected efficiently in the service selection step. The experiments show that the DCBC method can not only improve the overall quality of composite services but also guarantee the fulfill ratio of requests and the load balance of services.

Nondestructive test (NDT) provides much information on concrete without damage of structural functions. Of NDT methods, elastic wave propagation methods, such as ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV) method and impact-echo (IE) method, have been successfully used to estimate the strength, elastic modulus, and Poisson's ratio of concrete as well as to detect the internal microstructural change and defects. In this study, the concretes with water-binder ratio ranging from 0.27 to 0.50 and fly ash content of 20% were made and then their longitudinal wave velocities were measured by UPV and IE method, respectively. Test results showed that the UPV is greater than the longitudinal wave velocity measured by the If method, i.e., rod-wave velocity obtained from the same concrete cylinder. It was found that the difference between the two types of velocities decreased with increasing the ages of concrete and strength level. Moreover, for the empirical formula, the dynamic Poisson's ratio, static and dynamic moduli of elasticity, and velocity-strength relationship were determined. It was observed that the Poisson's ratio and the modulus of elasticity determined by the dynamic method are greater than those determined by the static test. Consequently, for the more accurate estimation of concrete properties using the elastic wave velocities, the characteristics of these velocities should be understood.

Nonlinear dynamic time history analysis of a structure with energy dissipation devices is complicated and time consuming. In this regard the nonlinear static analysis is a practical alternative for evaluating the earthquake resisting capacity of a structure. In this study the nonlinear static response of a structure was obtained first, and the equivalent viscous modal damping ratio required to satisfy the performance objective was computed in the capacity spectrum format. Then proper amount of viscous dampers were installed to provide the required damping. Parametric study has been performed for the period of the structure, yield strength, and the stiffness after the first yield. According to the earthquake time history analysis results, the maximum displacement of the model structure with viscous dampers designed in accordance with the proposed method corresponds well with the target displacements that was used in the beginning of the design process.

In this paper, the computer simulations are carried out by using the peridynamic theory model with various conditions including quasi-static loads, dynamic loads and crack propagation, branching crack pattern and isotropic materials, orthotropic materials. Three examples, a plate with a hole under quasi-static loading, a plate with a pre-existing crack under dynamic loading and a lamina with a pre-existing crack under quasi-static loading are analyzed by computational simulations. In order to simulate the quasi-static load, an adaptive dynamic relaxation technique is used. In the orthotropic material analysis, a homogenization method is used considering the strain energy density ratio between the classical continuum mechanics and the peridynamic. As a result, crack propagation and branching cracks are observed successfully and the direction and initiation of the crack are also captured within the peridynamic modeling. In case of applying peridynamic used homogenization method to a relatively complicated orthotropic material, it is also verified by comparing with experimental results.

This study wag performed to evaluate the engineering properties of permeable polymer concrete with stone dust and fly ash and unsaturated polyester resin. The following conclusions were drawn. 1. The highest strength was achieved by stone dust filled permeable polymer concrete, it was increased 17% by compressive strength, 188% by bending strength than that of the normal cement concrete, respectively. 2. The water permeability was in the range of 3.O76~4.152${\ell}/ cm{^2}/h$, and it was largely dependent upon the mix design. These concrete can be used to the structures which need water permeability. 3. The static modulus of elasticity was in the range of $1.15{\times} 10^5kg/cm^2$, which was approximately 53 56% of that of the normal cement concrete. 4. The poisson's number of permeable polymer concrete was in the range of 5.106~5.833, which was less than that of the normal cement concrete. 5. The dynamic modulus of elasticity was in the range of $1.29{\times} 10^5~1.5{\times} 10^5 kg/cm^2$, which was approximately less compared to that of the normal cement concrete. Stone dust filled permeable polymer concrete was showed higher dynamic modulus. The dynamic modulus of elasticity were increased approximately 7~13% than that of the static modulus. 6. The compressive strength, bending strength, elastic modulus, poisson's ratio, longitudinal strain and horizontal strain were decreased with the increase of poisson's number and water permeability at those concrete.
