나노크기의 교질상 영가철 및 자철석에 대한 수용상의 거동특성 (Characterization of Behavior of Colloidal Zero-Valent Iron and Magnetite in Aqueous Environment)

  • 광산배수가 지표에 노출되거나 주변 수계로 유입됨에 따라 나노크기의 철 교질물질이 형성되며, 이러한 철 교질물질은 심미적 오염을 발생시킬 뿐만 아니라 수생태계에도 악영향을 미친다. 이를 제어하기 위해 철 나노물질의 거동특성을 파악하는 것이 매우 중요한데, 아직까지 이에 대한 연구가 미흡하다. 본 연구는 영가철과 자철석을 이용하여 배경용액의 pH와 조성, 그리고 자연유기물에 따른 철 나노물질의 거동특성을 고찰하기 위해 수행되었다. 이를 위해 동적광산란분석기를 이용하여 철 나노물질의 입자크기와 표면 제타전위를 측정하였으며, DLVO (Derjaguin, Landau, Verwey, and Overbeek) 이론에 적용하여 응집 및 분산 등의 거동특성을 비교하였다. 철 나노물질은 영전하점 pH 근처에서는 입자간의 전기적 인력으로 인한 응집이 발생되며, 그보다 pH가 낮거나 높으면 전기적 반발력에 의해 분산이 잘되는 것을 확인하였다. 배경용액 내 양이온이 음이온보다 거동특성에 더 큰 영향을 끼치는 것을 확인하였으며, 특히 1가 양이온보다 2가 양이온이 입자표면간의 전기적인 인력 및 반발력에 더 큰 영향을 주는 것을 알 수 있었다. 수용상의 자연유기물은 철 나노물질을 코팅함으로써 표면을 음전하로 띠게 하여 분산이 잘 되게 하는 것을 확인하였다. 동일한 환경조건에서 자철석보다 영가철이 응집이 더 잘 되는 것으로 나타났는데, 이는 영가철의 낮은 안정성과 빠른 반응성으로 인해 철 산화물로 변질되기 때문인 것으로 판단된다.

아크릴 수지를 이용한 차열성 포장의 실내 및 현장 공용성 평가 (Laboratory and Field Performance Evaluation of Acryl Resin Based Solar Radiation Reflective Pavement)

  • 본 연구에서는 도심지 열섬현상을 완화 시킬 수 있는 아크릴 수지와 차열안료를 혼합한 차열성 포장을 개발하였다. 태양 복사열에 의한 포장체의 온도상승을 모사한 실내 시험으로부터 $60^{\circ}C$의 포장 온도에서 차열성 포장이 $12^{\circ}C$ 이상의 온도 저감 효과를 나타냈다. 이러한 온도 감소 효과는 차열안료의 배합비가 증가함에 따라 증가하였고, 반면에 점도의 증가로 인하여 작업성은 떨어졌다. 이러한 결과로부터 아크릴 수지 대비 차열안료의 최적혼합비율을 15%로 결정하였다. 차열성 포장의 칸타브로 손실률은 일반 배수성 포장의 손실률 1/4 수준으로 골재 비산 저항성이 우수하게 나타났다. 휠트랙킹 시험결과 차열성 포장의 동적안정도가 일반 배수성 포장에 비해 두 배 증가하였다. 차열성 포장재의 높은 부착력으로 인하여 탈리에 의한 손상 가능성은 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 시험 시공 구간에서의 소음도 측정 시험 결과 일반 배수성 포장에 비하여 평균 3.7dB의 소음저감 효과가 있었고, 미끄럼 저항치는 일반 배수성 포장에 비해서 평균 30% 정도 높아 우수한 미끄럼 저항성을 가지는 것으로 판단된다. 투수 시험 결과 차열성 포장의 투수성은 일반 배수성 포장보다 다소 작았으나 국내 배수성 포장 기준을 만족하는 것으로 나타났다.

Application of CE-QUAL-W2 [v3.2] to Andong Reservoir: Part II: Simulations of Chlorophyll a and Total Phosphorus Dynamics

  • The calibrated Andong Reservoir hydro-dynamic module (PART I) of the 2-dimensional hydrodynamic and water quality model, CE-QUAL-W2 [v3.2], was applied to examine the dynamics of total phosphorus, and chlorophyll $\alpha$ concentration within Andong Reservoir. The modeling effort was supported with the data collected in the field for a five year period. In general, the model achieved a good accuracy throughout the calibration period for both chlorophyll ${\alpha}$ and total phosphorus concentration. The greatest deviation in algal concentration occurred on $10^{th}$ October, starting at the layer just beneath the surface layer and extending up to the depth of 35 m. This deviation is principally attributed to the effect of temperature on the algal growth rate. Also, on the same date, the model over-predicts hypolimnion and epilimnion total phosphorus concentration but under-predicts the high concentrated plume in the metalimnion. The large amount of upwelling of finer suspended solid particles, and re-suspension of the sediments laden with phosphorus, are thought to have caused high concentration in the epilimnion and hypolimnion, respectively. Nevertheless, the model well reproduced the seasonal dynamics of both chlorophyll a and total phosphorus concentration. Also, the model tracked the interflow of high phosphorus concentration plume brought by the turbid discharge during the Asian summer monsoon season. Two different hypothetical discharge scenarios (discharge from epilimnetic, and hypolimnetic layers) were analyzed to understand the response of total phosphorus interflow plume on the basis of differential discharge gate location. The simulated results showed that the hypolimnetic discharge gate operation ($103{\sim}113\;m$) was the most effective reservoir structural control method in quickly discharging the total phosphorus plume (decrease of in-reservoir concentration by 219% than present level).

원자층증착 기술: 개요 및 응용분야 (Atomic Layer Deposition: Overview and Applications)

  • Atomic layer deposition(ALD) is a promising deposition method and has been studied and used in many different areas, such as displays, semiconductors, batteries, and solar cells. This method, which is based on a self-limiting growth mechanism, facilitates precise control of film thickness at an atomic level and enables deposition on large and three dimensionally complex surfaces. For instance, ALD technology is very useful for 3D and high aspect ratio structures such as dynamic random access memory(DRAM) and other non-volatile memories(NVMs). In addition, a variety of materials can be deposited using ALD, oxides, nitrides, sulfides, metals, and so on. In conventional ALD, the source and reactant are pulsed into the reaction chamber alternately, one at a time, separated by purging or evacuation periods. Thermal ALD and metal organic ALD are also used, but these have their own advantages and disadvantages. Furthermore, plasma-enhanced ALD has come into the spotlight because it has more freedom in processing conditions; it uses highly reactive radicals and ions and for a wider range of material properties than the conventional thermal ALD, which uses $H_2O$ and $O_3$ as an oxygen reactant. However, the throughput is still a challenge for a current time divided ALD system. Therefore, a new concept of ALD, fast ALD or spatial ALD, which separate half-reactions spatially, has been extensively under development. In this paper, we reviewed these various kinds of ALD equipment, possible materials using ALD, and recent ALD research applications mainly focused on materials required in microelectronics.

  • Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) is a useful rapid prototyping technique for the manufacture of three dimensional (3D) solid objects directly from a scanning data. A new approach called a Selective Multi-Laser Sintering (SMLS) system has been developed at Korea Institute Machinery & Materials (KIMM) as an industrial type SFFS. This SMLS machine is built with a frame, heaters, nitrogen supply part, laser system. This system uses the dual laser and 3D scanner made in $Solutionix^{TM}$ to improve the precision and speed for large objects. The three-dimensional solid objects are made of polyamide powder. The investigation on each part of SMLS system is performed to determine the proper theirs design and the effect of experimental parameters on making the 3D objects. The temperature of the system has a great influence on sintering the polymer. Because the stability of the powder temperature prevents the deformation of each layer, the controls of the temperature in both the system and the powders are very important during the process. Therefore, we simulated the temperature distribution of build room using the temperature analysis with ANSYS program. Selected radiant heater is used to raise temperature of powder to melting point temperature. The laser parameters such as scan spacing, scan speed, laser power and laser delay time affect the production the 3D objects too. The combination of the slow scan speed and the high laser power shows the good results without the layer curling. The work is under way to evaluate the effect of experimental parameters on process and to produce the various objects. We are going to experiment continuously to improve the size accuracy and surface roughness.

슬링(Sling) 시스템을 이용한 경부 안정화 운동 (Cervical stabilization exercise using the Sling system)

  • Cervical pain is a rapid increase that is owing to a flexion-extension whiplash injury, unappropriated posture, chronical repetition injury from abdominal position of head and neck, excessive repeating work, chronical deficiency of excercise. Because of that is bring about muscle unbalance, tightness of cervical extensor muscle, weakness of cervical deep flexor muscles, instability of cervical region and reduction of proprioceptive sensor. Recent the role of muscle is more emphasized for preservation of sine stabilization. And cognition of integrated muscular system, importance for the operation and relation is increased to maintain stability of the motor system and pertinent function. Therefore we are going to introduce the sling exercise and stabilization exercise method for advanced efficient of cervical and upper limb and for the muscle strengthening to importance cervical stabilization through neurological program as control the reaction of cervical stabilization. Sling exercise therapy(SET) concept consists of a system of diagnosis and treatment. The system of diagnosis involves testing the muscle's tolerance through progressive loading in open and close kinetic chains. The SET system contains elements such as relaxation, increasing the range of movement, traction, training the stabilizing musculature, sensory-motor exercises, training in open and close kinetic chains, dynamic training of the mobilizing musculature, cardiovascular exercise, group exercise, personal exercise at home Sensory-motor training is an essential element of the SET concept. The emphasis is on closed kinetic chain exercise on an unstable surface, there by achieving optimum stimulation of the sensory-motor apparatus.

개에서 피부세정제 적용빈도가 정상피부에 미치는 영향 (Functional Assessment of Frequency of a Commercial Shampoo for Normal Canine Skin)

  • Canine skin is a highly dynamic organ that is constantly adapted to changes in its environment. It provides structural, sensory, immunologic, and physiologic functions and contributes an essential barrier function against potential environmental insults. We assessed the changes of canine skin hydration, pH, and protein contents by noninvasive method according to the frequency of application with canine commercial shampoo. Canine commercial shampoo was applied topically every other day, 5 days, and 8 days on different sites, respectively in 8 dogs. Saline-applied site was as a control. Skin hydration was increased and skin surface pH was decreased significantly in canine commercial shampoo-applied site every other day (p < 0.05). Also, skin protein concentration measured by D-squame$^{(R)}$ tape stripping method was increased significantly in canine commercial shampoo-applied site every other day (p < 0.05). There were alterations on every 5 days and 8 days, but not significantly. These results may be recognized that the frequent use of canine commercial shampoo cause abnormalities of the skin barrier function and alteration of stratum corneum integrity/cohesion. Consequently it was suggested that bathing the dog with canine commercial shampoo was appropriate every 5 or 8 days.

Sol-Coprecipitation 법에 의한 NO 감지용 $WO_3$ 센서 제조시 pH의 영향 (Influence of pH on Sensitivity of $WO_3$ NO gas sensor fabricated by Sol-Coprecipitation method)

  • 입자들이 용액에 녹아있을 때 pH에 따라서 다른 zeta-potential을 가지게 되며, 이것은 입자의 분산상태에 영향을 주게 된다. NO 센서에서 $WO_3$ 입자의 크기는 감도에 큰 영향을 끼치므로 Sol-Coprecipitation법에 의한 $WO_3$ 센서 제조 시에 $WO_3$ precursor 상태에서의 pH의 영향을 알아보았다. 먼저 $WO_3$ precursor의 전기적 포텐셜을 측정하여 pH가 2에서 7로 변함에 따라 mobility가 증가하여 7일 때에 가장 큰 분산도를 가진 것을 알 수 있었고, 이는 powder 제조 후 입도 분석, 감지막의 XRD peak, 표면사진으로부터 확인 할 수 있었다. 결과적으로 감도 특성에도 영향을 끼쳐 pH=7에서 제조한 센서가 다른 pH에서 제조한 센서보다 감도가 우수한 것으로 나타났다.

PFC3D에서의 폭원모델링 기법의 개발 및 적용 (Development and Application of an Explosion Modeling Technique Using PFC)

  • 본 연구에서는 PFC3D를 사용한 폭원모델링 기법을 제안하고, 제안된 기법을 시멘트 모르타르와 같은 연약재료의 발파에 적용하여 그 적용성을 시험해 보았다. PFC3D는 개별요소법(DEM)을 기반으로 하고 있어 응력파의 전파와 재료의 동적 파괴현상을 모사하는데 적합한 코드로 분류된다. 폭원모델링 과정에서는 공내입자들의 반경을 팽창/수축시키는 기법을 통해 공벽입자들에 접촉력의 형태로 폭발압력을 부여하는 방법을 사용하였으며, 입력하중에 따라 공벽에서 유발되는 접촉력을 계산단계마다 측정 및 보정함으로써 폭발압력의 크기를 제어할 수 있도록 하였다. 시멘트 모르타르 블록의 발파모델링 과정에서는 기존의 외력을 이용하는 방법과 본 연구에서 제안하고 있는 접촉력을 이용하는 기법을 각기 적용함으로써 연약재료의 파괴과정을 정성적으로 비교하여 보았다. 해석결과, 제안된 폭원모델링 기법을 적용한다면 암석이나 콘크리트와 같은 공학재료들이 발파과정에서 보이는 파괴거동을 수치적으로 보다 유사하게 모사 할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

고정밀 회전 및 축방향 이송을 위한 신개념 원통형 자기부상 스테이지 (Novel Cylindrical Magnetic Levitation Stage for Rotation as well as Translation along Axles with High Precisions)

  • In this paper, a conceptual design and a detailed design of novel cylindrical magnetic levitation stage is introduced. This is came from planar-typed magnetic levitation stage. The proposed stage is composed of cylinder-typed permanent magnet array and semi-cylinder-typed 3 phase winding module. When a proper current is induced at winding module, a magnetic levitation force between the permanent magnet array and winding module is generated. The proposed stage can precisely move the cylinder to rotations and translations as well as levitations with the magnetic levitation force. This advantage is useful to make a nano patterning on the surface of cylindrical specimen by using electron beam lithography under vacuum. Two methods are used to calculate required magnetic levitation forces. The one is 2D FEM analysis, the other is mathematical modeling. This paper shown that results of two methods are similar. An assistant plate is introduced to reduce required currents of winding module for levitations in vacuum. The mathematical model of cylindrical magnetic levitation stage is used for dynamic simulation of magnetic levitations. A lead-lag compensator is used for control of the model. Simulation results shown that the detail designed model of the cylindrical magnetic levitation stage with the assistant plate can be controlled very well.
