For a perforated plate, it is challenging to develop a finite element model due to the necessity of the fine meshing of the plate, especially if it is submerged in fluid. This necessitates the use of a solid plate with equivalent material properties. Unfortunately, the effective elastic constants suggested by the ASME code are deemed not valid for a modal analysis. Therefore, in this study the equivalent material properties of a perforated plate are suggested by performing several finite element analyses with respect to the ligament efficiencies.

This study examined dynamic and characteristics and chloride penetration of concrete mixed with large amount of FA and BFS, which are considered for positive application to construction fields with purpose of long-tern durability of concrete structures. As a result of strength test on FA and BFS, FA concrete showed higher increase of strength compared to OPC, when FA4000 and FA5000 were mixed 30%, respectively. For BFS concrete, those mixed with 30% and 50% of BFS8000, respectively, showed higher or equivalent strength compare to OPC. As a result of test of chloride penetration on FA and BFS, diffusion coefficients of concrete mixed with 30% FA4000 and FA5000, respectively, showed to restrain average 6.5% of diffusion coefficient compared to OPC. And in case of BFS concrete, those mixed with BFS6000 and BFS8000, restrained diffusion of chloride ions 253% and 336%, respectively, compared to OPC. Therefore, Mixing 50% of BFS was most efficient in order to maximize restraint of chloride penetration according to metathesis of large amount. For relation between compression strength and diffusion coefficient of FA and BFS concrete, as strength increased, diffusion coefficient decreased. In this study, when mixing FA and BFS to concrete for long-run durability and restraint against chloride penetration, for FA, mixing it to concrete with less or equivalent 30% of replacement rate was most efficient. And for BFS, as fineness was higher and mixing it to concrete with less or equivalent 50% of replacement rate, there were results of higher strength compared to OPC and more efficient restraint of chloride ions.

In this study, the applicability of the lightweight dynamic cone penetrometer in the domestic slope site was investigated using the weathered granite soil sampled form the Namwon slope site. And then, the lightweight dynamic cone penetration tests according to the change in the degree of compaction and water content were performed and it was analyzed with the correlations between the degree of compaction, the void ratio, the degree of saturation and the value of cone resistance. From the laboratory test results, the cone penetration resistance was rapidly increased in the dry side of the optimum moisture content, and it was largely decreased in the wet side of the optimum moisture content. Moreover, when the degree of compaction and the degree of saturation are large, the cone resistance is increased linearly. And a high correlativity was shown between water content, void ratio, the degree of saturation and the cone resistance. From these results, it is judged that the lightweight dynamic cone penetrometer can be applied to the investigation on the site slope.
This paper proposes a power smoothing scheme of a doubly-fed induction generator. The proposed scheme aims to mitigate system frequency deviation caused by the variable wind. To achieve this, a dynamic droop loop is used and its gain changes with rate of change of frequency so that it can release a large amount of kinetic energy at the initial stage of a frequency event. The performance of the proposed scheme was investigated in a model system with high wind penetration using EMTP-RV simulator. The test results indicate that the scheme can smooth the output power by absorbing or releasing the output power under a varying wind condition.
Structural cracks may cause variations in structural stiffness and thus produce bilinear vibrations to structures. This study examines the dynamic behavior of structures with breathing cracks. A generalized algorithm based on the finite element method and bilinear theory was developed to study the influence of a breathing crack on the vibration characteristic. All the formulae derived in the time domain were applied to estimate the period of the overall bilinear motion cycle, and the contact effect was considered in the calculations by introducing the penetration of the crack surface. Changes in the dynamic characteristics of cracked structures are investigated by assessing the variation of natural frequencies under different crack status in either the open or closed modes. Results in estimation with vibrational behavior variation are significant compared with the experimental results available in the literature as well as other numerical calculations.

Quality assurance for embankment compaction is one of very important procedures to guarantee high quality construction. However, only sand replacement method (KS F2312) and static plate load test (KS F2310) which are conventional and tiresome methods are used to evaluate degree of compaction at construction fields. Recently, new types of devices such as the geogauge and the light falling weight deflectometer (LFWD), the soil impact hammer (CASPFOL) and dynamic cone penetration test etc. which are able to substitute for the conventional methods are begun to use to evaluate soil stiffness. In this study, a laboratory model test was performed to evaluate correlations among test results obtained from the new devices and to assess the potential use of them. All test results have correlations with relative density and water content. Especially, the coefficients of correlation between $E_G$ from the geogauge and $K_{30'}$ from the soil impact hammer and between $E_G$ from the geogauge and $E_{LFWD}$ from LFWD are more than 0.7 but those between the results from DCP and others are less than those between $E_{G{\cdot}}$ and $K_{30'}$ and $E_G$ and $E_{LFWD}$.
The method of using organic acid is more environment-friendly for it improves the strength of the ground. The method of proliferating microbes makes soil particle bonded, finally improves the strength of the ground and decreasing permeability. Although there has been the research on the effect of strength increasing, there has never been a research on the evaluation of field application. In this paper, through the light drop weight test, the dynamic cone penetration test, the field density test, the variation of strength was investigated in the mixed ground with organic acid for 56 days. As the results of the field test, it was found that the strength and stiffness of the ground increased with organic acid, and that through SEM-EDS, the precipitation of calcium carbonate made by specified microbe obviously increased with organic acid material and so the ground was improved. Therefore, the sustainable development of this method needs to be analysed more in the future.
As CPT penetration tends to show a similar behavior to that of pile driving, a number of methods for estimating the toe bearing capacity of piles based on CPT data have been proposed. To evaluate the applicability of the methods in this country, a total of 172 dynamic load tests data on PHC piles and 82 CPT data at a site in the Nakdong River estuary were collected. A specific four-step procedure was adopted for the selection of the reliable data, and statistical techniques were then applied to the analysis of the applicability. The results indicated that among a total of 10 CPT-based methods applied, the best one is the Aoki method (1975), followed by the LCPC (1982), ICP (2005) methods and others.

This paper presents the measuring process of dynamic properties of offshore wind power foundation and provides consideration of each step. This Guideline enables to maintain consistent measuring procedure and therefore increase the reliability of test results. Small scaled suction bucket foundation was fabricated to represent the commercial support structure installation mechanism and two cases(free-free, free-fixed) of dynamic tests were performed at workshop. From the tests, the importance of dynamic properties of connection part between suction bucket and tower was figured out. More over, types and configuration of measuring devices are recommended which can help find the natural frequency of wind turbine foundation correctly. In field test, it was found that the natural frequency of suction bucket foundation was increased linearly with the penetration depth due to the confining effect of ambient soil. Meanwhile, it was not easy to get an enough excitation force with normal impact hammer because the N.F of suction bucket model was in the lower range of 0 Hz ~ 5 Hz. Therefore, new excitation method which has enough force and can excite lower frequency range was devised. This study will help develop safety check procedure of suction bucket foundation in field at each installation stage using the N.F measurement.

In this study, the dynamic load transfer function, which is necessary for analyzing a pile installed by a vibro hammer, was determined by comparing the results of the analyses and instrumented tests. The static load transfer function was modeled by the Ramberg-Osgood model through an analytical method before determining the dynamic load transfer curve. The parameters of the Ramberg-Osgood model were correlated with the N value of the standard penetration test and average values of the correlation coefficient were 0.97 for the shaft load transfer and 0.98 for the base load transfer. The dynamic load transfer function was simulated using the modified Ramberg-Osgood model. The results showed that there were little differences in the characteristics of dynamic load transfer between the results of the measurement and prediction.
