  • Taguchi's parameter design is a method for quality improvement by making the performance fo a system robust to noise. Parameter design with dynamic characteristics has been recently the subject of much interest. This paper is concerned with a review and a generalization of the Signal-to-Noise (SN) ratio, a quality measure for parameter design with dynamic characteristics, proposed by Taguchi. We present a method for determination and analysis of the generalized SN ratio and illustrate its implementation by example.

  • This paper presents Dynamic-Simulation to estimate the inductance of a permanent magnet type transverse flux rotating motor by applying the real-time parameter estimation theory. As transverse flux rotating motor has the complex structure, it can be happen to some errors between real value and designed one with respect to the inductance. To reduce this kinds of errors, the real-time parameter estimation theory was applied to dynamic-simulation. And then, By comparing the estimated inductance and designed one, it is realized that the real-time parameter estimation theory can be applied in the permanent magnet type transverse flux rotating motor.

  • In this paper, a parameter optimization based iterative learning control strategy is presented for permanent magnet synchronous motor control. This paper analyzes the mechanism of iterative learning control suppressing PMSM torque ripple and discusses the impact of controller parameters on steady-state and dynamic performance of the system. Based on the analysis, an optimization problem is constructed, and the expression of the optimal controller parameter is obtained to adjust the controller parameter online. Experimental research is carried out on a 5.2kW PMSM. The results show that the parameter optimization based iterative learning control proposed in this paper achieves lower torque ripple during steady-state operation and short regulating time of dynamic response, thus satisfying the demands for both steady state and dynamic performance of the speed regulating system.

  • It is important to model the mechanical structure precisely and reasonably in predicting the dynamic characteristics, controlling the vibration, and designing the structure dynamics. In the finite element modeling, the errors can be contained from the physical parameters, the approximation of the boundary conditions, and the element modeling. From the dynamic test, more precise dynamic characteristics can be obtained. Model updating using parameter modification is appropriate when the design parameter is used to analyze the input parameter like finite element method. Finite element analysis for cantilever and simply supported beams with uniform area and shape change are carried out as model updating examples. Mass and stiffness matrices are updated by comparing test and analytical modal frequencies. The result shows that the updated frequencies become closer to the test frequencies.

  • Induction motors are known to cause voltage dip, oscillating torque and inrush current on the dynamic period. To compensate for these undesirable effects, the prediction of dynamic performances is required. The dynamic performances are determinated by circuit time constants. From this point of view, in this paper, the dynamic equivalent circuit included only three time-constant parameters are presented. To predict more simply dynamic performances, the new characteristics time constant parameters are analyzed, and now these parameters are described as the function of circuit time constants. This paper reviews and analyzes the use of series capacitance compensations, and the use of this analysis can make simply a prediction about oscillating conditions.

  • A dynamic discount approach is proposed for the estimation of the Poisson parameter and the forecasting of the Poisson random variable, where the parameter of the Poisson distribution varies over time intervals. The recursive estimation procedure of the Poisson parameter is provided. Also the forecasted distribution of the Poisson random variable in the next time interval based on the information gathered until the current time interval is provided.

  • Recently, a new foundation model called "Dynamic foundation model" was proposed for the dynamic analysis of structures on the foundation. This model includes a linear elastic spring, shear layer, viscous damping and the special effects of mass density parameter of foundation during vibration. However, the relationship of foundation property parameters with the experimental parameter of the influence of foundation mass also has not been established in previous research. Hence, the purpose of the paper presents a simple experimental model in order to establish relationships between foundation properties such as stiffness, depth of foundation and experimental parameter of the influence of foundation mass. The simple experimental model is described by a steel plate connected with solid rubber layer as a single degree of freedom system including an elastic spring connected with lumped mass. Based on natural circular frequencies of the experimental models determined from FFT analysis plots of the time history of acceleration data, the experimental parameter of the influence of foundation mass is obtained and the above relationships are also discussed.

  • In this paper dynamic modeling parameters were estimated using a frequency domain estimation method. A systematic flight test method was employed using preprogrammed multistep excitation of the swashplate control input. In addition when one axis is excited, the autopilot is engaged in the other axis, thereby obtaining high-quality flight data. A dynamic model was derived for a small scale unmanned helicopter (CNUHELI-020, developed by Chungnam National University) equipped with a Bell-Hiller stabilizer bar. Six degree of freedom equations of motion were derived using the total forces and moments acting on the small scale helicopter. The dynamics of the main rotor is simplified by the first order tip-path plane, and the aerodynamic effects of fuselage, tail rotor, engine, and horizontal/vertical stabilizer were considered. Trim analysis and linearized model were used as a basic model for the parameter estimation. Doublet and multistep inputs are used to excite dynamic motions of the helicopter. The system and input matrices were estimated in the frequency domain using the equation error method in order to match the data of flight test with those of the dynamic modeling. The dynamic modeling and the flight test show similar time responses, which validates the consequence of analytic modeling and the procedures of parameter estimation.
