The purpose of this paper is to calculate the dynamic derivatives of single rotor Helicopter in forward flight. From trim condition, the equation of motion is derived, and we can calculate the dynamic dervatives. The results were compared with flight test data. The phase angle and stick displacement are obtained and compared at the trim condition.
In this paper we have attempted to bring the wavelet transform theory to the dynamic response conversion algorithm. This algorithm is proposed for the problem of estimating the displacement data by defining the transformed responses. In this algerian, the displacement response can be obtained from the measured acceleration records by integration without requiring the knowledge of the initial velocity and displacement information. The advantage of the wavelet transform over either a pure spectral or temporal decomposition of the signal is that the pertinent signals features can be characterized in the time-frequency plane. In the response conversion procedure using the wavelet decomposition signals, not only the static component can be extracted, but also the dynamic displacement component can be separated by the structural mode from the identified displacement response. The applicability of the technique is tested by an example problem using the real bridge's superstructure under several cases of moving load. If the reliability of the identified responses is ensured, it is expected that the proposed method for estimating the impact factor can be useful in the bridge's dynamic test. This method can be useful in those practical cases when the direct measurement of the displacement is difficult as in the dynamic studies of huge structure.
Dynamic behavior of pile foundation is significantly influenced by the dynamic interaction between soil and pile. Especially, in the sloping ground, the soil-pile interaction becomes very complex due to different resistance according to loading direction, soil residual displacement and so on. In this study, dynamic centrifuge tests were performed on the piles in the sloping ground. The model structures consisted of a single pile and 2×2 group pile. The soil-pile interaction has been investigated considering various conditions such as slope, single and group piles, and amplitude of input motions. The phase differences between soil and pile displacement and dynamic p-y curves were evaluated. The analysis results showed that the pile behavior was largely influenced by the kinematic forces between soil and pile. In addition, the dynamic p-y curve showed the complex hysteresis loop due to the effect of slope, residual displacement, and kinematic forces.
This study aims to evaluate the dynamic responses of the jacket-type offshore wind turbine using FAST software (Fatigue, Aerodynamics, Structures, and Turbulence). A systematic series of simulation cases of a 5 MW jacket-type offshore wind turbine, including wind-only, wave-only, wind & wave load cases are conducted. The dynamic responses of the wind turbine structure are obtained, including the structure displacement, rotor speed, thrust force, nacelle acceleration, bending moment at the tower bottom, and shear force on the jacket leg. The calculated time-domain results are transformed to frequency domain results using FFT and the environmental load with more impact on each dynamic response is identified. It is confirmed that the dynamic displacements of the wind turbine are dominant in the wave frequency under the incident wave alone condition, and the rotor thrust, nacelle acceleration, and bending moment at the bottom of the tower exhibit high responses in the natural frequency band of the wind turbine. In the wind only condition, all responses except the vertical displacement of the wind turbine are dominant at three times the rotor rotation frequency (considering the number of blades) generated by the wind. In a combined external force with wind and waves, it was observed that the horizontal displacement is dominant by the wind load. Additionally, the bending moment on the tower base is highly affected by the wind. The shear force of the jacket leg is basically influenced by the wave loads, but it can be affected by both the wind and wave loads especially under the turbulent wind and irregular wave conditions.

In this study, a method to estimate the suspension bridge deflection is developed using mode decomposition technique. In order to examine the suspension bridge stability against these dynamic loadings, the prediction of displacement response is very important to evaluate bridge stability. However, it is recognized that any measurement of movement for suspension bridges may be difficult for the absence of proper methods to measure the displacement response on site. This study aims at suggesting a method to estimate the displacement response from the measured strain signals in an indirect way to predict the displacement response, not a direct way to measure the displacement response. Additionally, by applying the FBG sensors with multi-point measurements not influenced by electric noise, it can be expected that the technique would be applicable to infrastructures.

In this paper the design and test results of a dynamic flow rate sensor was reported. This sensor comprises an 2-way cartridge valve as standard hydraulic component and a displacement sensor. Its working principle bases on the linear relationship between the flow rate and the piston displacement of 2-way cartridge valves under constant pressure drop. This principle is well known, however it is not easy to develop a flow rate sensor with the measurement range of 300 1/min, pressure loss of less than 8 bar at 300 1/min, maximum linearity error of less than $\pm$1% and the maximum rising time of 10 ms. This paper describes the design procedure of the flow rate sensor, the improvement procedure of static performance and test method and results of dynamic performance.

Computer simulations of the mechanical behavior of a three point bend specimen with a quarter notch under impact load are performed. The case with a load application point at the side is considered. An elastic-plastic von Mises material model is chosen. Three phases such as impact bouncing and bending phases are found to be identified during the period from the moment of impact to the estimated time for crack initiation. It is clearly shown that no plastic deformation near the crack tip is appeared at the impact phase. However it is confirmed that the plastic zone near the crack tip emerges in the second phase and the plastic hinge has been formed in the third phase. Gap opening displacement crack tip opening displacement and strain rate are compared with rate dependent material(visco-plastic material). The stability during various dynamic load can be seen by using the simulation of this study.

Since the engine and reduction gear in a naval vessel are usually supported by the mounting system separately, the misalignment between the input shaft of the reduction gear and the output shaft of the engine should occur caused by ship motion. In this study, this misalignment is estimated from the linear static analysis assuming that the phase of movements of the engine and reduction gear at low frequency range is same and the dynamic effect is not affect to them. Through comparing the relative displacement of the engine and reduction gear calculated from linear static analysis to that from dynamic analysis as well as experiment, the assumption in this study could be verified.

Cutting process, in general, is a closed-loop system consisting of structural dynamics and cutting dynamics, with the cutting forces and the relative displacements between tool and workpiece being the associated variables. There have been a number of works on modeling the cutting process of endmilling, most of which assumed that either one of the tool or workpiece be negligible in tis displacement. In this paper, the relative displacement between tool and workpiece was considered. The proposed model used experimental modal analysis for structural dynamics and an instantaneous uncut chip thickness model for cutting dynamics. Simulation of the model, a time varying cutting system, was performed using 4th order Runge-Kutta method. Subsequent simulation results were utilized to predict chatter over a variety of experiments in slotting operation, showing good agreement.

A performance-based seismic design method for reinforced concrete building structures being developed in Japan is outlined. Technical and scientific background of the performance-based design philosophy as well as recently developed seismic design guidelines are is presented, in which maximum displacement response to design earthquake motion is used as the limit-state design criteria. A method of estimating dynamic response displacement of the structures based on static nonlinear analysis is described. A theoretical estimation of nonlinear dynamic response considering the characteristics of energy input to the system is described in detail, which may be used as the standard method in the new performance-based code. A desing philosophy not only satisfying the criteria but also evaluating seismic capacity of the structures is also introduced.
