  • A DC generator control system was designed to control the torque of a rotating shaft precisely. The control system is composed of a strain gage type torque cell, a torque cell amplifier, a computer, a D/A converter, a error detector, a DC voltage amplifier and a resistor. The response test under unit step input and the dynamic stability test for the designed control system were carried out. It was confirmed that the settling time from the response test is about 4 s and the error from the dynamic stability test is less than 0.06% of rated output of torque cell. The designed control system may be used to control a DC generator which may be used to apply torque to a rotating shaft.

  • In this paper, we propose a new distortion cancellation mechanism for a balanced power amplifier structure using the carrier cancellation loop of a feedforward and post-distortion technique. The proposed cross post-distortion balanced linear amplifier can reduce nonlinear components as much as the conventional feedforward amplifier through the output dynamic range and broad bandwidth. Also the proposed system provides higher efficiency than the feedforward. The capacities of power amplifier and error power amplifier in the proposed system are analyzed and compared with those of feedforward amplifier. Also the operation mechanisms of the three kind loops are explained. The proposed cross post-distortion balanced linear power amplifier is implemented at the IMT-2000($f_0=2.14\;GHz$) band. With the commercial high power amplifiers of total power of 240 W peak envelope power fer base-station application, the adjacent channel leakage ratio measurement with wideband code division multiple access 4FA signal shows 18.6 dB improvement at an average output power of 40 dBm. The efficiency of fabricated amplifier Improves about 2 % than the conventional feedforward amplifier.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel equalizer to compensate for the group delay including AM/PM nonlinear distortion characteristics by the nonlinear power amplifier (PA). The group delay characteristic is a nonlinear non-constant time delay that appears differently depending on each frequency component. The phase distortion by AM/PM characteristics arising from the power amplifier is a major factor to increase group delay. By the group delay distortion, the signal in the constellation expands and is rotated. Considering the problem mentioned above, the nonlinear time delay that appears differently depending on each frequency component is classified as a static group delay and AM/PM characteristic of PA, the different phase transitions depending on the size of input signal as a dynamic group delay. Static group delay estimates and compensate for phase distortions in the frequency domain with type-based method and dynamic group delay compensates for phase rotation in the time domain. We confirmed that the group delay compensation techniques were enough to compensate the group delay characteristics including AM/PM characteristics of the power amplifier.

  • A class-D audio amplifier for a digital hearing aid is described. The class-D amplifier operates with a pulse-code modulated (PCM) digital input and consists of an interpolation filter, a digital sigma-delta modulator (SDM), and an analog SDM, along with an H-bridge power switch. The noise of the power switch is suppressed by feeding it back to the input of the analog SDM. The interpolation filter removes the unwanted image tones of the PCM input, improving the linearity and power efficiency. The class-D amplifier is implemented in a 0.13-${\mu}m$ CMOS process. The maximum output power delivered to the receiver (speaker) is 1.19 mW. The measured total harmonic distortion plus noise is 0.015%, and the dynamic range is 86.0 dB. The class-D amplifier consumes 304 ${\mu}W$ from a 1.2-V power supply.

  • In this paper, We designed the multi-stage amplifier having high gain/low noise characteristics for terrestial repeater of direct digital satellite broadcasting system. In the design the amplifier, we optimized the parameters to have the stable operation between gain, noise figure and stability. The first stage of amplifier can be specified low noise impedance matching, 2nd stage to 5th stage show constant gain and stable operation and final stage of amplifier shows high gain impedance matching. As a result of experiment at the frequency of digital satellite terrestial, show 68dB gain under 2,4dB noise figure and 63dB dynamic range in the 11.7GHz-12.7GHz frequency range, it is a good agreement of communication channel amplifier requirements for satellite terrestial repeater.

  • A novel all-optical gain-controlled (AOGC) bidirectional amplifier is proposed and demonstrated in a compact structure. The AOGC function using fiber Bragg grating (FBG) pairs controls both directional signals independently, and combinations of optical interleavers and isolators suppress Rayleigh backscattering (RB) noise. The amplifier achieves high and constant gain with a wide dynamic input signal range and low noise figure. The performance does not depend on the input signal conditions, whether static-state or transient signals, or whether there is symmetric or asymmetric data traffic on bidirectional transmission. Transmission comparison experiments between invariable symmetrical and random variable asymmetric bidirectional data traffic verify that the all-optical gain control and bidirectional amplification functions are successfully combined into this proposed amplifier.

  • In this paper, the receiver using Heterodyne type is designed and implemented for a pulse radar at 9.4 GHz. The If amplifier, which occupies a significant size in a Heterodyne receiver for pulse radars, can be removed. Furthermore, by using detector logarithmic video amplifier in baseband, the receiver has a small size and it's characteristic shows a high dynamic range and sensitivity. From the results of measurements, the minimum receiver power of -70 dBm and selectivity of 55 dB are obtained.

  • Doherty amplifier has more efficiency and distortion than general amplifier. These distortion classified amplitude distortion and phase distortion, memory effect distortion. This paper reports on an attempt to investigate, model and quantity the contribution of the electrical nonlinearity effects and the thermal memory effects to a doherty amplifier's distortion generation and suggests thermal memory effect compensator for pre-distorter. Also this paper reports on the development of an accurate dynamic expression of the instantaneous junction temperature as a function of the instantaneous dissipated power. The parameters of suggested model suppress thermal memory effects doherty amplifier with pre-distorter. Pre-distorter with electrothermal memory effect compensator for doherty amplifier enhanced ACLR performance about 22 dB than general doherty amplifier. Experiment results were mesured by 50W LDMOS Doherty amplifier and pre-distorter with electrothermal memory effect compensator was simulated by ADS.

A memory effect of Doherty amplifier affect operation characteristics for linearity and efficiency. This paper reports on electrothermal nonlinearity modeling and compensation for GaN Doherty amplifier's distortion. Also this paper reports on the dynamic expression of the instantaneous junction temperature as a function of the instantaneous dissipated power. We design distortion model for GaN Doherty amplifier and predistortion compensator for electrothermal memory effect from the proposed behavior model parameters. The simulations was evaluated by ADS Tools and GaN Doherty amplifier with 37dBm. The GaN Doherty amplifier with compensator enhanced about 16dB than without electrothemal memory effect compensator in 2-tone output spectrum.
