정조시대 규장각의 교육적 의의 (The Study on the Educational Significance of Kyujanggak(奎章閣))

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze educational functions of Kyujanggak(奎章閣) during King Jeongjo(正祖) and reflect its significance Kyujanggak was established by King Jeongjo in 1776. The main function of Kyujanggak was keeping and managing Eopil(御筆) and it continued to perform what Jiphyeonjeon(集賢殿) had done. Among the functions of Kyujanggak, there found several critical ones that today's educational institution needs to do: 1) library function including collecting, keeping, and utilizing books 2) education of elites like Chogyemoonsin(抄啓文臣) 3) writing and publishing to encourage writing customs(文風振作) 4) the classic-mat lectures(經筵) to facilitate King's learning. Across the ages and in all countries of the world, education is the dynamic force and bulwark, Also, library is the treasure house and center of traditional culture. Especially, Kyujanggak has been estimated to perform the functions of both education and library successfully. The results indicated that the practice of Kyujanggak reminds us that the educational mind and leadership of the top leader of nation is the primary and decisive factor in building a strong culture-nation.

Multi-dimensional analyses of plant chromosomes and genomes.

  • Genome and chromosome analyses in plants using fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) and immuno-staining (IMS) methods are reviewed by presenting the recent results obtained by the Chromosome Link, a group of chromosome and genome researchers. FISH is now effective to detect unique nucleotide sequences with 153 bp on the extended DNA fibers. Genomic in situ hybridization (GISH) also allows painting plant chromosomes of different genomes. GISH is quite effective to detect the genomic differentiation in the individual chromosomes within a nucleus. Three dimensional (3D) analyses are now available by confocal microscopy and a deconvolution system. These techniques are invaluable to visualize both the structural and functional dynamics within a nucleus. 3D-FISH revealed the spatial differentiation of different genomees within a nucleus. 3D-FISH also proved structural partition of centromeric and telomeric domains within a barely nucleus. The dynamic acetylation of histone H4 at the specific regions of a genome during a cell cycle is also analyzed using 3D-IMS. It is anticipated that these methods will provide us powerful tools to understand the structural and functional significance of plant chromosomes and genomes.

  • 단일 GPS위치 측정시 일반 사용자는 측정 오차들과 미국방성의 의도적인 오차들로 인해 항법이나 측지등의 응용분야에서 만족할만한 정확도를 얻을 수 없다. DGPS(Differential GPS)는 이러한 제약들을 해결할 수 있는 방법으로, 이는 이미 정확한 좌표를 알고 있는 기준국과 좌표를 알고자 원하는 지점간의 공통 오차를 제거하여 좌표를 구하는 방법으로 높은 정확도를 얻을 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 기지의 기준국 좌표와 GPS위성에서 수신한 자료들 사이에서 구한 기준국 좌표사이의 편차를 이용한 DGPS방법을 정적 실험 및 선박을 이용한 동적 실험등을 통하여 후처리 방법으로 구현하였다.

Do Firm Characteristics and Industry Matter in Determining Corporate Cash Holdings? Evidence from Hospitality Firms

  • The study investigates a recent surge of cash literature by using a sample of hospitality firms to gain a new understanding of corporate cash holdings. Past literature states that there is a substantial variation of liquidity across industry groups. Existing literature predominantly refers to US-listed firms and focus on either hotels or restaurants and not the hospitality industry as a whole. Therefore, we provide a comparative study of cash holdings behaviour between hospitality and non-hospitality firms from an emerging market context. Using a sample of public listed hospitality firms from 2002 to 2013, dynamic panel regression techniques are used to study the relationships between firm characteristics and cash levels. Also, the non-parametric Wilcoxon-Mann-Whitney test was carried out to examine the time and sectoral differences in cash holdings. In addition, the panel regression techniques are used to investigate the relationships between firm characteristics and level of corporate cash holdings. The results reveal that firm characteristics do matter in hospitality firms. We find that firm size, capital expenditures, and liquid assets substitutes are negatively related to cash level. The results support trade-off theory and the pecking order theory. This study incrementally explains the cash holdings behaviour of hospitality firms in emerging market.

복합재 블레이드의 1차원 보 모델링 (One-Dimensional Beam Modeling of a Composite Rotor Blade)

  • The three-dimensional finite element modeling of a composite rotor blade is very hard and requires much computation effort. The efficient method to model a composite beam is necessary for the dynamic and aeroelastic analyses of rotor blades. In this study, the beam modeling method of a composite rotor blade is studied using VABS. The computer program, VABS (Variational Asymptotic Beam Section Analysis), uses the variational asymptotic method to split a 3-D nonlinear elasticity problem into 2-D cross-sectional analysis and 1-D nonlinear beam problem. The VABS can produce the sectional stiffness coefficients of composite rotor blades with various cross section and initial twist/curvatures, and recover the original 3-D distribution of displacement/strain/stress fields. The results of various cross section beams show that VABS gives us the accurate results comparared to commercial codes and does not need much computation effort. It can be concluded that VABS provides the efficient method to establish the FE model of a composite rotor blade.

  • In modem days when architectural materials have grave impacts on overall design expression, materials for architecture, especially finishing materials have become the most essential elements for the design expression, as architectural space and form have been. When it comes to the architectural materials, they can be conceived by visual and tactile sensory system and perceptional system which based on memory and experience. This study confirms how materials bring into effect on architecture in the sense of its design. The main subject of this analysis is expression method of architectural finishing materials. Also, this study finds out the relationship between finishing materials and the images of materials by analyzing the effect factor of architectural material expression with the perspectives of materials, formal and environments and by examining roles of the architectural materials in design. The material factor, in the expression of materiality, is how to make tectonic space and to vary the surface of building as finishing material design. The formal factor is related to set up the new direction in the architectural form and to create the dynamic and informal space. And the social and cultural environment as the effect factor gives new situation and context to architectural material expression. This principle enables us to use architectural materials as one of the important elements which express the whole characteristics of the area.

  • 현재까지 제작된 아케이드 슈팅 게임은 진행할수록 급격히 지루해지는 미사일 패턴과 어려워지는 난이도로 인하여 접하는 사람들에게 높은 진입 장벽으로 작용되어왔다. 이러한 단점들을 보완하여 슈팅게임에 음악적 요소와 시간 감속 기능으로 게임 플레이를 사용자에게 유리하고 유쾌한 환경으로 만들어 사용자들이 쉽게 즐길 수 있는 리듬 슈팅 게임을 개발하였다.

  • Recently, Digital Switch has risen as one of the important issues on which academic and industrial world focus in order to bring organizational transformation to a company that wants to adapt itself to the rapidly changing business environment. However, the discussion in the Digital Switch has been so much concentrated in the study of each static system, model of their performance and the development of monitoring each of them, that only few theoretical research has been carried out on the dynamic process of how each system in the organization experienced the change in terms of the level of digital transformation that can occur in the whole organization facing the change of digital environment. Therefore this thesis aims to develop a new model & strategy of switching to global digital by OEM companies in Jeonlabuk-do that enables us to check out and predict the Digital Switch progress. This model is the first Digital Switch process evaluation intended for empirical study, especially by integrating the many indices that have not been examined empirically by the existing studies. We expect that the results from this research will help corporate e-business strategy planners to devise and analyze the Digital Switch strategies effectively by recognizing the companies' current situation in comparison with their previous and other firms' level, respectively.

Design of silicon-on-nothing structure based on multi-physics analysis

  • The formation of silicon-on-nothing (SON) structure during an annealing process from the silicon substrate including the trench structures has been considered as an effective technique to construct the structure that has an empty space under the closed flat surface. Previous studies have demonstrated the mechanism of the formation of SON structure, which is based on the surface diffusion driven by the minimization of their surface energy. Also, it has been fragmentarily shown that the morphology of SON structure can be affected by the initial design of trench (e.g., size, number) and the annealing conditions (e.g., temperature, pressure). Based on the previous studies, here, we report a comprehensive study for the design of the cavity-embedded structure (i.e., SON structure). To do this, a dynamic model has been developed with the phase field approach. The simulation results represent that the morphology of SON structures could be detailedly designed, for example the position and thickness of cavity, the thickness of top and bottom layer, according to the design parameters. This study will give us an advantage in the effective design of SON structures.

Assessing Spatial Disparities and Spatial-Temporal Dynamic of Urban Green Spaces: a Case Study of City of Chicago

  • This study introduces how GISs (Geographic Information Systems) are used to assess spatial disparities in urban green spaces in the Chicago. Green spaces provide us with a variety of benefits, namely environmental, economic, and physical benefits. This study seeks to explore socioeconomic relationships between green spaces and their surrounding communities and to evaluate spatial disparities from a variety of perspectives, such as health-related, socioeconomic, and physical environment factors. To achieve this goal, this study used spatial statistics, such as optimized hotspot analysis, network analysis, and space-time cluster analysis, which enable conclusions to be drawn from the geographic data. In particular, 12 variables within the three factors are used to assess spatial disparities in the benefits of the use of green spaces. Finally, the variables are standardized to rank the community areas and identify where the most vulnerable community areas or parks are. To evaluate the benefits given to the community areas, this study used the z- and composite scores, which are compared in the three different combinations. After identifying the most vulnerable community area, crime data is used to spatially understand when and where crimes occur near the parks selected. This work contributes to the work of urban planners who need to spatially evaluate community areas in considering the benefits of the uses of green spaces.
