INCONEL 718, nickel based superalloy, has good formability, high strength, excellent corrosion resistance and mechanical properties at high temperature. Owing to theses attractive properties, it finds use in applications such as combustion system, turbine engines and nuclear reactors. In such applications, components are typically required to be tolerant of high stress impact loading. This may cause material degradation and lead to catastrophic failure during service operation. In order to design optimal structural parts made of INCONEL 718, accurate understanding of material's mechanical properties, dynamic behavior and fracture characteristic as a function of strain rates are required. This paper concerned with the dynamic material properties of the INCONEL 718 for the various strain rates. The dynamic response of the INCONEL 718 at intermediate strain rate is obtained from the high speed tensile test machine test and at the high strain rate is from the split Hopkinson pressure bar test. Based on the experimental results, the effects of strain rate on dynamic flow stress, work hardening characteristics, strain rate sensitivity and elongation to the failure are evaluated. Experimental results from both quasi-static and high strain rate up to the 5000/sec are interpolated in order to construct the Johnson-Cook model as the constitutive relation that should be applied to simulate and design the structural parts made of INCONEL 718.
The effect of dynamic strain aging (DSA) on the leak-before-break (LBB) analysis was estimated through the evaluation of leakage-size-crack and flaw stability in SA106 Gr.C piping steel. Also. the results were represented as a form of "LBB allowable load window". In the DSA temperature region. the leakage-size-crack length was smaller than that at other temperatures and it increased with increasing tensile strain rate. In the results of flaw stability analysis. the lowest instability load appeared at the temperature corresponding to minimum J- R curve which was caused by DSA. The instability load near the plant operating temperature depended on the loading rate of J-R data. and decreased with increasing tensile strain rate. These are due to the strain hardening characteristic and strain rate sensitivity of DSA. In the "LBB allowable load window". LBB allowable region was the narrowest at the temperature and loading conditions where DSA occurs.
Tensile and J-R tests were carried out to estimate the effects of dynamic strain aging(DSA) on SA106Gr.C piping steel. Tensile tests were performed under temperature range RT to $400^{\circ}C$ md strain rates from $1.39{\times}10^{-4}\;to\;6.95{\times}10^{-2}/s$. Fracture toughness was tested in the temperature range RT to $350^{\circ}C$ and load-line displacement rates 0.4 and 4mm/min. The effects of DSA on the tensile properties were clearly observed for phenomena such serrated flow, variation of ultimate and yield stress, and negative stram rate sensitivity. However, the magnitude of serration and strength increase by DSA was relatively small. this may be due to high ratio of Mn to C. In addition, crack initiation resistance, Ji and crack growth resistance, dJ/da were reduced in the range of $200-300^{\circ}C$, where DSA appeared as serrated flow and UTS hardening. The temperature corresponding to minimum fracture resistance was shifted to higher temperature with increasing loading rate.

Vector control schemes are used in inverter-fed induction motor drives to obtain high performance. Crucial to the success of the vector control scheme is the knowledge of the instantaneous position of the rotor flux. However, the position of the rotor flux change with temperature and magnetic saturation of the motor. This variation cause deterioration of both steady state and dynamic operation of the motor drives. Performance degradation is in the form of input-output torque nonlinearity and saturation of the motor. Analytic expressions are derived to evaluate the effects due to parameter sensitivity. Also, dynamic response is shown by speed command with the variation of stator and rotor resistance.
A novel method for measuring hydrogen concentration is introduced, along with its working principle and a novel detection algorithm. This configuration requires no additional reference compartment for potentiometric electrochemical measurements; therefore, it is the most suitable for measuring dissolved hydrogen in the liquid phase. The sensor's electromotive force saturates at a certain point, depending on the hydrogen concentration during the heating process of the sensor operation. This dynamic temperature scanning method provides higher sensitivity than the constant temperature measurement method.
Compression deformation behaviors at high temperature as a function of temperature and strain rate were investigated in the 6061 aluminum alloy, which is used for automobile wheel. Compression tests were carried out in the range of temperatures $300{\sim}475^{\circ}C$ and strain rate $10^{-3}{\sim}10^{-1}sec^{-1}$. By analyzing these results, strain rate sensitivity, deformation temperature sensitivity, the efficiency of power dissipation, Ziegler's instability criterion, etc were calculated, which were plastic deformation instability parameters as suggested by Ziegler, Malas, etc. Furthermore, deformation processing map was drawn by introducing dynamic materials model (DMM) and Ziegler's Continuum Criteria. This processing map was evaluated by relating the deformation instability conditions and the real microstructures. As a result, the optimum forging condition for the automobile wheel with the 6061 aluminum alloy was designed at temperature $450^{\circ}C$, strain rate $1.0{\times}10^{-1}sec^{-1}$. It was also confirmed by DEFORM finite element analysis tool with simulation process.
In this paper we present a new vector control scheme for induction motor. An exact knowledge of the rotor flux position is essential for a high-performance vector control. The position of the rotor flux is measured in the direct scheme or estimated in the indirect schemes. Since the estimation of the flux position requires a priori knowledge of the induction motor parameters, the indirect schemes are machine parameter dependent. The rotor resistance and stator resistance among the parameters change with temperature. Variations in the parameters of induction machine cause deterioration of both the steady state and dynamic operation of the induction motor drive. Several methods have been presented to minimize the consequences of parameter sensitivity in indirect scheme. In this paper new estimation scheme of rotor flux position is presented to eliminate sensitivity due to resistance change with temperature. Simulation results are used to verify the performance of the proposed vector control scheme.
Dynamic modeling was used to predict the Pseudomonas spp. concentration in Alaska pollack under dynamic temperature conditions in a programmable incubator using Euler's method. The model evaluation showed good agreement between the predicted and measured concentrations of Pseudomonas spp. In the simulation, three kinds of distribution path were assumed: consumers buying from a distribution center (A), manufacturer (B), or direct market (C). Each of these distribution paths consists of six phases: shipping, warehousing/shipment, warehousing/storing, processing, market exhibition, and sale/consumption. Sensitivity analysis of each phase was also implemented. The Pseudomonas concentrations and sensitivities ($S_k$) at the terminal phases of the three paths were estimated to be (A) 11.174 log CFU/g and 10.550 log $S_k$, (B) 10.948 log CFU/g and 10.738 log $S_k$, and (C) 8.758 log CFU/g and 9.602 log $S_k$, respectively. The sensitivities indicated that path A has the highest risk of failure in managing the relevant phases.
This study investigates the effects of temperatures and strain rates on the strength and ductility of Gr.91 (ASME Grade 91) steel which is widely being used as a heat-resistant material in Generation IV nuclear and super critical thermal power plants. The tensile behavior of modified 9Cr-1Mo (Gr.91) steel was studied for the three strain rates of 6.67×10-5/s, 6.67×10-4/s and 6.67×10-3/s over the temperature range from room temperature (RT) to 650℃. Experimental results showed that at specific combinations of temperatures (300~400℃) and strain rates, serrations appeared in the stress-strain curves. Concurrently, abnormal behaviors such as a plateau in yield strength and tensile strength, a minimum in ductility and negative strain rate sensitivity were observed. These phenomena were analyzed as significant characteristics of dynamic strain aging (DSA). Since this abnormal behavior in Gr.91 steel affects the material strength, it is judged that a correlation analysis between DSA and material strength should be crucial in the design and integrity evaluation of Gr. 91 steel pressure vessel and piping subjected to high-temperature loading.
