There are high recognitions on the importance of comforts in Elderly living environment, but the circumstance is that studies on seniors facility space itself are approached only in planning level, and studies on lighting environment which is significantly associated with the comfort in the indoor environment of seniors where they actually spend the majority of their time are not that active. This study was intended to deduce cozy bedroom environment to which existing elderly care facility can be improved by using light shelf the lighting system with the advantage of being able to serve both as building sun visor and lighting window simultaneously in order to analyze the interior environment of bedroom space of elderly care facility the indoor space where the aged spend the majority of their life and examine the directions for the improvement of existing building lighting system through remodeling and renovation. In this study, lighting performance analysis was done in a way that the windows of the bedroom unit in existing facility were set in southbound direction based on two standard types and were put under initial simulation with the use of Autodesk Revit 2011, and after the simulation results were converted to Green Building Studio gbXML file to be used in ECOTECT, Daylight Autonomy a dynamic simulation and static natural lighting simulation the existing method of calculating daylight factors were deduced through Ecotect Analysis 2011. In conclusion, exiting standard model was found in such a condition that the daylight factors for both type A and type B were above 5% the proper standard value, and required improvement. In case light shelf the natural lighting system was attached, the daylight factor was improved to proper standard value for type A, and also was improved above existing facility for type B.

This paper presents a method to segment object ID(identification) marks on poor quality images under uncontrolled lighting conditions of automated inspection process. The method is based on dynamic programming using multiple templates and normalized gray-level correlation (NGC) method. If the lighting condition is not good and hence, we can not control the image quality, target image to be inspected presents poor quality ID marks and it is not easy to identify and recognize the ID characters. Conventional several methods to segment the interesting ID mark regions fail on the bad quality images. In this paper, we propose a multiple template method, which uses combinational relation of multiple templates from model templates to match several characters of the inspection images. To increase the computation speed to segment the ID mark regions, we introduce the dynamic programming based algorithm. Experimental results using images from real factory automation(FA) environment are presented.

The management of energy resources for efficient utilization of the energy resources while reducing the system costs is a critical technical issue. Among many kinds of the energy resource management, the energy reduction for indoor lighting systems is getting much concern as a large portion of energy consumption has been made for indoor lightings. In this paper, an energy-efficient lighting control scheme for indoor lighting systems in order to reduce the energy consumption by controlling the luminous flux and the lighting direction under the illuminance constraints is proposed. With the use of the user location information for the luminaire which is closely located to the user, the proposed scheme firstly sets the light direction of the luminaire to be aligned to the user location. Then, an optimization problem to find the luminous flux of each luminaire is formulated in order to minimize the luminous flux sum of the luminaires with the constraints for the dynamic ragne of the luminous flux, and the light flux for each luminaire is determined by the solution of the problem. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme outperforms the luminaire control scheme with only the luminous flux control in the evaluation of satisfaction of the required illuminance level.
Due to the large window area, the lighting environment of the educational space between the window and deep part of the room is not uniformly illuminated, and the phenomenon of glare is severe. For this reason, the daylight performance of DSC-BIPV windows was analyzed in order to improve the natural lighting in the educational sector. The method derives the correlation with natural lighting by measurement and simulation. Dynamic simulation confirmed that the average illuminance of the target space was higher at later than the early afternoon. The performance of natural lighting at 40% and 30% transmission of DSC has the effect of significantly reducing the amount of excess light in existing windows. Nevertheless, the actual average illuminance in all seasons corresponds to the standard illuminance of the educational facility, 300 Lux. In addition, the uniformity is also seen through the skylight illuminance ratio.

Luminance is the most important quantity in lighting design and illuminating engineering. There are three methods for measuring luminance; using a conventional luminance meter, through the illuminance measurement and subsequent calculations and using digital imaging photometer. Recently, HDRI(High Dynamic Range Imaging) technique introduces a new method of capturing luminance values in a lighting environment. The radiance maps from HDRI are commonly used as visual environment maps for lighting analysis applications. For the HDRI, HDR software is needed to create HDR image. Currently, there is number of HDR software available. The purpose of this paper is to investigate whether a luminance map can be accurately captured by the various types of HDR software which include HDR Shop and Photoshop. To accomplish this goal a set of experiments was conducted. In order to assess the luminance values of the HDR image from HDR software, the values had to be compared to the ones obtained with conventional methods of luminance measurement.
Lighting and traffic signal columns are mainly stressed by excitation due to natural, gusty wind. Such columns typically have a door opening about 60 cm above ground level for the connection of the buried cable with the column's electric system. When the columns around this notch are inadequately designed, vibrations due to gusty winds will produce considerable stress amplitudes in this area, which lead to fatigue cracks. To give a realistic basis for a reliable and economic design of lighting and traffic signal columns, a number of experimental and theoretical investigations have been made. The proposed design concept allows the life of such columns to be assessed with a satisfactory degree of accuracy.
Aiming at the problem that complex external variables in natural scenes have a greater impact on facial expression recognition results, a facial expression recognition method based on two-stream convolutional neural network is proposed. The model introduces exponentially enhanced shared input weights before each level of convolution input, and uses soft attention mechanism modules on the space-time features of the combination of static and dynamic streams. This enables the network to autonomously find areas that are more relevant to the expression category and pay more attention to these areas. Through these means, the information of irrelevant interference areas is suppressed. In order to solve the problem of poor local robustness caused by lighting and expression changes, this paper also performs lighting preprocessing with the lighting preprocessing chain algorithm to eliminate most of the lighting effects. Experimental results on AFEW6.0 and Multi-PIE datasets show that the recognition rates of this method are 95.05% and 61.40%, respectively, which are better than other comparison methods.
We propose a deep learning-based method that can estimate an appropriate lighting of both indoor and outdoor images. The method consists of two networks: Crop-to-PanoLDR network and LDR-to-HDR network. The Crop-to-PanoLDR network predicts a low dynamic range (LDR) environment map from a single partially observed normal field of view image, and the LDR-to-HDR network transforms the predicted LDR image into a high dynamic range (HDR) environment map which includes the high intensity light information. The HDR environment map generated through this process is applied when rendering virtual objects in the given image. The direction of the estimated light along with ambient light illuminating the virtual object is examined to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. For this, the results from our method are compared with those from the methods that consider either indoor images or outdoor images only. In addition, the effect of the loss function, which plays the role of classifying images into indoor or outdoor was tested and verified. Finally, a user test was conducted to compare the quality of the environment map created in this study with those created by existing research.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the situation of energy consumption and its characteristics in large scale store. The related survey is carried out in large scale store to investigate the energy consumption and energy use trend of heating, cooling, hot water, lighting, ventilation, equipments and others. The area of large scale discount store is about $65000m^2$, located in Daejeon. For Annual Energy Analysis of building, We surveyed used energy for 1 year and simulated using a building energy simulation(TRNSYS 16). The results of this study are as follows. 1)The amount of annual total energy consumption are 18615.244MWh/yr(286.4KWh/$m^2yr$), The rate of heating, cooling and base energy(for hot water, lighting, ventilation, equipments, cooking and others) is 3054MWh/yr(47kWh/$m^2yr$), 5660.09MWh/yr(87.08kWh/$m^2yr$), 9900.47MWh/yr(152.31KWh/$m^2yr$) respectively. The total used energy is higher than others building in Korea. Especially, The energy consumption of large scale store is very depends on operating period and pattern such as space temperature, occupancy, lighting system, equipments operating schedule and etc.

The objective of the work was to evaluate the impact of lighting energy to cooling and heating consumption in medium scale office building, when currently installed fluorescent lights were replaced with various LED lighting fixtures. This evaluation comes from an integrated approach combining the proper indoor lighting environment and the thermal aspects of cooling & heating consumption in office building. These simulations were performed by coupling an appropriate luminaire analysis for energy consumption and a dynamic thermal simulation software (TRNSYS). To analyze comparative study of effects on the heating, cooling loads, and energy consumption of an LED lamp application, 2 types of LED lamp with low light power watt(LPW) 24W and high LPW 7.5W and a fluorescent lights(FL) with 37W are used respectively. Integrated building energy consumption decreased up to 3.2% when fluorescent lamps were replaced with LEDs. Thus, the high LPW of LED(7.5W) replaced with the same number of FL shows an effective energy saving and cost- effective luminary.
