  • Silicon oil in viscous fluid damper has a viscoelastic feature that show stiffness besides damping. These properties depend on frequency and are non-linear. A lot of research has been conducted in order to identify viscoelastic damper with mathematical model. Fractional Derivative Maxwell Model has been widely used, but this model did not explain the effect of damper size change on the damper performance. In this paper, the experimental study was conducted to validate damper's dynamic behaviors when total damper's size is changed while maintaining same aspect ratio and orifice size.

  • We should maintain the maximum operation capacity for production facilities and find properly out the fault of each equipment rapidly in order to decrease a loss caused by its failure. The acoustic and vibration signals of a machine always carry the dynamic information of the machine. These signals are very useful fur the feature extraction and fault diagnosis. We performed a fundamental study which develops a system of fault diagnosis for a pump. We experimented vibrations by acceleration sensors and noises by microphones, compared and analysed for normal products, artificially deformed products. We tried to search a change of the dynamic signals according to machine malfunctions and analyse the type of deformation or failure. The results showed that acoustic signals as well as vibration signals can be used as a simple method lot a detection of machine malfunction or fault diagnosis.

  • Human-hand gestures have been used a means of communication among people for a long time, being interpreted as streams of tokens for a language. The signed language is a method of communication for hearing impaired person. Articulated gestures and postures of hands and fingers are commonly used for the signed language. This paper presents a system which recognizes the korean sign language (KSL) and translates the recognition results into a normal korean text and sound. A pair of data-gloves are used a sthe sensing device for detecting motions of hands and fingers. In this paper, we propose a dynamic gesture recognition mehtod by employing a fuzzy feature analysis method for efficient classification of hand motions, and applying a fuzzy min-max neural network to on-line pattern recognition.

  • Masonry is not a simple material, the influence of mortar joints as a plane of weakness is a significant feature and this makes the numerical modelling of masonry very difficult especially when dynamic (seismic) analysis is involved. In order to develop a simple numerical model for masonry under earthquake load, an analytical model based on Distinct Element Method (DEM) is being developed. At the first stage, the model is applied to simulate the in-plane shear behaviour of an unreinforced masonry wall with and without opening where the testing results are available for comparison. In DEM, a solid is represented as an assembly of discrete blocks. Joints are modelled as interface between distinct bodies. It is a dynamic process and specially designed to model the behaviour of discontinuities. The numerical solutions obtained from the distinct element analysis are validated by comparing the results with those obtained from existing experiments and finite element modelling.

  • This paper presents a threat list acquisition method in an engagement area using the support vector machines (SVM). The proposed method consists of track creation, track estimation, track feature extraction, and threat list classification. To classify the threat track robustly, dynamic track estimation and pattern recognition algorithms are used. Dynamic tracks are estimated accurately by approximating a track movement using position, velocity and time. After track estimation, track features are extracted from the track information, and used to classify threat list. Experimental results showed that the threat list acquisition method in the engagement area achieved about 95 % accuracy rate for whole test tracks when using the SVM classifier. In case of improving the real-time process through further studies, it can be expected to apply the fire control systems.

  • A new approach using fuzzy dynamic programming is proposed for the flexible long-term generation mix under uncertain circumstances. A characteristic feature of the presented approach is that not only fuzziness in fuel and construction cost. load growth and reliability but also many constraints of generation mix can easily be taken into account by using fuzzy dynamic programming. The method can accommodate arbitrary shape of membership function as well as the operation of pump-generator. And so more realistic solution can be obtained. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is demonstrated by the best generation mix problem of KEPCO-system which contains nuclear, coal, LNG, oil and pump-generator hydro plant in multi-years.

  • Conductive Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) films have recently attracted much interest from the viewpoint of ultrathin film conductors at the molecular level. The result shows that the Maxwell-displacement-current(MDC) measuring technique is useful in the detection of phase-transition over the entire range of molecule areas. At the liquid-solid phase transition, a striking feature in the present current measurement was observed; the I-A isotherm for a DPPC monolayer has sharp bend. Dynamic behavior of monolayers in the presence of an external field was also investigated using the current-measuring technique. Dynamic behavier of DPPC monolayer was measured by displacement current when the molecules are stimulated by pressure velocity. As result, it is known that current is generated of higher current pe마 as compression velocity become faster. Also, in order to clarify the reorganization of the lipid monolayers, it is instructive to plot the relationship between I and 1/$A^2$.

  • Usually the static scheduling algorithms such as DMS(Deadline Monotonic Scheduling) or RMS(Rate Monotonic Scheduling) are used for CAN scheduling due to its ease with implementation. However, due to their inherently low utilization of network media, some dynamic scheduling approaches have been studied to enhance the utilization. In case of dynamic scheduling algorithms, two considerations are needed. The one is a priority inversion due to rough deadline encoding into stricted arbitration fields of CAN. The other is an arbitration delay due to the non-preemptive feature of CAN. In this paper, an extended algorithm is proposed from an existing EDS(Earliest Deadline Scheduling) approach of CAN scheduling algorithm having a solution to the priority inverstion ....

  • In this study, we propose a machine vision system with a high object recognition rate. By utilizing a multiple-exposure image sensing technique, the proposed deep learning-based machine vision system can cover a wide light intensity range without further learning processes on the various light intensity range. If the proposed machine vision system fails to recognize object features, the system operates in a multiple-exposure sensing mode and detects the target object that is blocked in the near dark or bright region. Furthermore, short- and long-exposure images from the multiple-exposure sensing mode are synthesized to obtain accurate object feature information. That results in the generation of a wide dynamic range of image information. Even with the object recognition resources for the deep learning process with a light intensity range of only 23 dB, the prototype machine vision system with the multiple-exposure imaging method demonstrated an object recognition performance with a light intensity range of up to 96 dB.
