EPD File Generation System Based on Template for Choosing E-paper Contents Layout

  • We propose EPD(Electrophoretic Display) file generation system based on template that enable users to choose contents layout for E-paper display. And also we show implementation results that apply the proposed system in digital doorsign management field adopting E-paper display. Template includes information for contents layout which is composed of standard form image to be used as background image, coordinates of area for dynamic data to be inserted, data source about dynamic data, and characteristic data of EPD panel for displaying contents. System administrator registers templates in Forms Server. When user chooses a contents layout, Forms Server automatically generates EPD file for displaying contents in E-paper by using information of the template and sends EPD file into doorsign. Strength of the proposed system lies in reflecting user preference about contents design and adding personal data into E-paper contents by smartphone application.

  • This paper deals with the CMOS PLA Generator using CHISEL language. The program which plots a CMOS PLA alphanumeric layout automatically according to desired input functions and output functions has been developed. The program consists of procedures. These procedure are drawing a stick diagram with input data, converting any design rule, plotting a physical layout at IBM PC-AT with CIF input data. Physical layout information of dynamic CMOS PLA is stored CIF form. The CMOS PLA Generator is written in CHISEL which is layout language VLSI design tools and run on a VAX11/750 running UNIX.

  • The efficient utilization of cache memories is a key factor in achieving high performance for computing large signal transforms. Nonunit stride access in computation of large DFTs causes cache conflict misses, thereby resulting in poor cache performance. It leads to a severe degradation in overall performance. In this paper, we propose a dynamic data layout approach considering the memory hierarchy system. In our approach, data reorganization is performed between computation stages to reduce the number of cache misses. Also, we develop an efficient search algorithm to determine the optimal tree with the minimum execution time among possible factorization trees considering the size of DFTs and the data access stride. Our approach is applied to compute the fast Fourier Transform (FFT). Experiments were performed on Pentium 4, $Athlon^{TM}$ 64, Alpha 21264, UtraSPARC III. Experiment results show that our FFT achieve performance improvement of up to 3.37 times better than the previous FFT packages.

Spatial Structure and Dynamic Evolution of Urban Cooperative Innovation Network in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, China: An Analysis Based on Cooperative Invention Patents

  • With the increasing pressure of international competition, urban agglomeration cooperation and innovation had become an important means of regional economic development. This study analyzed the spatial characteristics of the Urban Cooperative Innovation Network in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, found out the dynamic evolution law of innovation, provided suggestions for policy management departments, and effectively planned the industrial layout. According to the data of the State Intellectual Property Office of China, this study researched invention patents from 2005 to 2019. This paper constructed the urban cooperative innovation network, and took 11 cities in the bay area as the research objects, and used social network analysis to study the spatial structure and dynamic evolution of the urban innovation network. Every indicator reflected the urban cooperative innovation, but they all showed a certain decline in 2008-2010. And it is inferred that the innovation network space of each city will be "obvious fist advantages, significant spillover effect and weakening role of Hong Kong and Macao". This paper divided urban cooperative innovation of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area into three stages. Summing up the characteristics of each stage is helpful to recognize the changes of urban cooperative innovation and to do a good job in industrial layout planning.

Layout optimization for multi-platform offshore wind farm composed of spar-type floating wind turbines

  • A multi-platform offshore wind farm is receiving the worldwide attention for the sake of maximizing the wind power capacity and the dynamic stability at sea. But, its wind power efficiency is inherently affected by the interference of wake disturbed by the rotating blades, so its layout should be appropriately designed to minimize such wake interference. In this context, the purpose of this paper is to introduce a layout optimization for multi-platform offshore wind farm consisted of 2.5MW spar-type floating wind turbines. The layout is characterized by the arrangement type of wind turbines, the spacing between wind turbines and the orientation of wind farm to the wind direction, but the current study is concerned with the spacing for a square-type wind farm oriented with the specific angle. The design variable and the objective function are defined by the platform length and the total material volume of the wind farm. The maximum torque loss and overlapping section area are taken as the constraints, and their meta-models expressed in terms of the design variable are approximated using the existing experimental data and the geometry interpretation of wake flow.

  • This paper presents a structure and architecture of an integrated simulation method (ISM) to meet the requirements of virtual factory engineering (VFE). Combining CAD, VR and discrete event simulation techniques, the ISM provides static and dynamic simulation functions for implementation of VFE throughout the lifecycle. The static simulation can be used to evaluate the factory layout. The dynamic simulation enables us to evaluate ergonomics of factory, process performance of production system, feasibility of production plan and operation of factory, and to train operators safely, which cover the whole VFE lifecycle. The principles of the key techniques of VFE, including virtual factory data management system (VFDMS), static and dynamic simulation, are also discussed. To demonstrate and validate the ISM, a case study has been carried out in an assembly factory.

  • In this paper, we construct a prototype model for city data prediction by using time series data of floating population, and use machine learning to analyze urban data of complex structure. A correlation prediction model was constructed using three of the 10 data (total flow population, male flow population, and Monday flow population), and the result was compared with the actual data. The results of the accuracy were evaluated. The results of this study show that the predicted model of the floating population predicts the correlation between the predicted floating population and the current state of commerce. It is expected that it will help efficient and objective design in the planning stages of architecture, landscape, and urban areas such as tree environment design and layout of trails. Also, it is expected that the dynamic population prediction using multivariate time series data and collected location data will be able to perform integrated simulation with time series data of various fields.

  • A data and clock recovery integrated circuit for MAC (Multiplexed Analog Component) TV standard is described. The chip performs the recovery of a system clock from a digitally encoded voice signal, clamping of a video signal for DC-level restoration, and precise gain control of a video signal in the presence of a large amplitude variation. A PLL (Phase Locked Loop) is used for timing recovery and a new gain control circuit is proposed which enhances its accuracy and dynamic range by employing two identical four-quadrant analog multipliers. The chip is designed in full custom with 1.5um BiCMOS technology, and layout verification is completed by post-simulation with the extracted circuit.

  • An intelligent home network system using low-power and low-cost sensor nodes was designed and implemented. In Intelligent Home Network System, active home appliances control is composed of RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) based user indoor location tracking, dynamic multi-hop routing, and learning integration remote-control. Through the remote-control learning, home appliances can be controlled in wireless network environment. User location information for intelligent service is calculated using RSSI based Triangle measurement method, and then the received location information is passed to Smoothing Algorithm to reduce error rate. In order to service Intelligent Home Network, moreover, the sensor node is designed to be held by user. The gathered user data is transmitted through dynamic multi-hop routing to server, and real-time user location & environment information are displayed on monitoring program.

Design aspects for minimizing the rotational behavior of setbacks buildings

  • An approximate analysis is presented for multi-story setback buildings subjected to ground motions. Setback buildings with mass and stiffness discontinuities are common in modern architecture and quite often they are asymmetric in plan. The proposed analysis provides basic dynamic data (frequencies and peak values of base resultant forces) and furthermore an overview of the building response during a ground excitation. The method is based on the concept of the equivalent single story system, which has been introduced by the author in earlier papers for assessing the response of uniform in height buildings. As basic quantities of the dynamic response of elastic setback buildings can be derived by analyzing simple systems, a structural layout of minimum elastic rotational response can be easily constructed. The behavior of such structural configurations, which is basically translational into the elastic phase, is also examined into the post elastic phase when the strength assignment of the various bents is based on a planar static analysis under a set of lateral forces simulating an equivalent 'seismic loading'. It is demonstrated that the almost concurrent yielding of all resisting elements preserves the translational response, attained at the end of the elastic phase, to the post elastic one.
