주요 원유 현물가격간의 비선형 동적조정에 관한 연구 (A Study on Nonlinear Dynamic Adjustment of Spot Prices of Major Crude Oils)

  • 본 연구는 3가지 상태 threshold 벡터오차수정모형(three-regime threshold vector error correction model)을 활용하여 WTI, Brent, Dubai 등 세계 3대 마커(marker)원유의 현물 유가 간 비선형 동적조정 과정에 대해 분석하였다. 이를 위하여 2000년 1월 3일부터 2014년 12월 31일까지의 일별가격을 이용하였으며 WTI가 급격히 하락하기 시작한 2010년을 기준으로 전기와 후기로 구분하여 WTI-Brent와 WTI-Dubai 그리고 Brent-Dubai의 세 조합에 대해 실증분석하였다. 전기에는 세 조합 모두 양 시장 간 비선형적 동적조정이 이루어지고 있으나, 후기에서는 WTI-Brent를 제외한 WTI-Dubai 조합과 Brent-Dubai 조합에서만 비선형적 동적조정과정이 이루어지고 있는 것이 관찰되었다. 또한 WTI-Dubai 조합과 Brent-Dubai 조합에 대해 전기와 후기의 거래비용 추정결과를 보면 후기에서 시장 간의 거래비용이 전기에 비해 축소되었음을 확인하였다.

  • ㈜쎄트렉아이는 UAE의 EIAST와 함께 2008년 발사를 목표로 SI-200 표준버스시스템을 기반으로 하는 DubaiSat-1 비행모델을 개발하였다. DubaiSat-1 비행모델의 열제어계는 전력 소비의 최소화를 위해 수동 열제어를 기반으로 하되, 주요 부품에는 히터를 이용한 능동 열제어가 이뤄지도록 설계되었다. 또한 열해석 모델을 작성하여 DubaiSat-1의 임무궤도에 대해 열해석을 수행하였으며, 해석 결과를 토대로 모든 구성품이 설계 요구조건을 만족시킬 수 있도록 설계 보정 작업을 진행하였다. 또한 우주환경을 모사한 열진공시험을 수행하여 DubaiSat-1 비행모델의 열제어 성능에 대해 검토하였으며, 시험 결과와 해석 결과의 비교를 통한 열해석 모델의 보정 작업을 완료하였다.

국제 유가 변동성이 국내 휘발유 가격 비대칭성에 미치는 영향 (An Effect of Volatility of Crude Oil Price on Asymmetry of Domestic Gasoline Price Adjustment)

  • Purpose - This study examines the effects of Dubai oil price and the volatility on the asymmetry of domestic gasoline price adjustment. Additionally, the study investigates the effects of "Altteul" gas-station and tax-cut policies on asymmetry. Design/methodology/approach - Firstly, the study calculates proxies for asymmetry and volatility of each window(every 3-month) by error-correction model and GARCH(1, 1) using daily domestic gas price and Dubai oil price from 2008/04/15 to 2022/12/31. Secondly, the study investigates the effects of the increasing rate of Dubai oil price, volatility, "Altteul" gas-station and tax-cut policies on asymmetry. The autoregressive distributed lag regression model is employed for estimations. Findings - The study finds that changes in the increasing rate of Dubai oil price and both types of volatility of Dubai oil price increase asymmetry. While "Altteul" gas-station and tax-cut policies decrease asymmetry. Additionally, the study fails to find that asymmetry in the Korean gasoline market in the estimation with total observations. Research implications or Originality - An increase in Dubai oil price volatility means an increase in cost uncertainty for gas-station owners. Since cost uncertainty is a kind of financial risk, the increase in volatility reinforces the asymmetry. The study provides supporting evidence for the idea.

Factors Prompting Impulse Buying Behavior: Shoppers in Dubai

  • Purpose - This paper aims to identify and rank factors that influence impulse buying behavior among shoppers in Dubai. Research design, data, and methodology - Questionnaires were collected from 168 Dubai shoppers using non-probability quota sampling. Factor Analysis was completed to identify factors triggering impulse buying traits. Results - Six antecedent factors were identified: hedonism, in-store influences, product related influences, socialization, promotional activities, and convenience. Surprisingly, product related influences were the most significant in stimulating impulse buying behavior. Conclusions - This research suggests that a multitude of factors affect shopper propensity for impulse buying, with non-economic factors like product and in-store related influences having a significant impact. Hence, retail managers should concentrate on these in merchandising and promotional efforts. Against the backdrop of Dubai, one of the biggest retail destinations, this study contributes to present knowledge on impulse buying behavior. In terms of shopper inclinations and likeliness to purchase products, it highlights how shoppers respond to special in-store displays and discount offerings. For marketers, the findings regarding relative significance of various factors may help in strategies to attract consumers.

두바이 도시혁신에 따른 주변국가의 4차산업 혁신확산 (The innovation diffusion and neighbors in the 4th wave through Dubai-city)

  • Purpose - It suggests that making a policy and strategies for a way of Dubai has a strong priority strategy on science and technology by using much oil dollars to prepare risk when oil dollar's decrease. This has been now investigated how the leading innovator has changed the periphery countries. Research design, data, and methodology - Analyze policy, status, what other neighbouring Middle East countries also want to benchmark a successful case of a leading Dubai strategy. Higher manpower is needed absolutely to develop S&T. and etc. Dubai and Arab countries establish university to nurture as well as invite the talented manpower from overseas to recover deficient manpower. Dubai built totally academy city and invited branch of the overseas famous university, and Saudi Arabia built university(KAUST) and invite faculty and support good scholarship for students. Abrab countries especially, This is studied the process of differentiating and integrating the migrant workers of these cities into the globalized cities. This has resulted in large-scale employment for foreign and local companies in these cities and the spread of science and innovation. Results - Dubai supports venture or SMEs by using a strong priority strategy and attracts foreigner's investor, with which the neighbouring countries have been preparing together for 4th wave. It demonstrates that the gravitational model has been activated from neighboring countries of innovation science to create Dubai's hub. The maturity of long-term urban innovation is related to innovation capability through the national response and review. As a result, the flow of skilled international migration has been localized because of the mutual intersection with the local employment structure, and the development has spread as it spreads to neighboring countries. Conclusion - For the exploiting of new Distribution market in the neighbouring countries, Middle East countries' a strong priority strategy on S&T and education system give an influence on economic situation of the 4th wave in the world and world order of leading by USA, Japan, or EU, and etc. This is due to the creation of clusters in the form of SEZs, friendly industrial policies and world-class infrastructure and innovation development. Its neighbours benchmark the cases of distribution of science innovation and centralizes the surrounding people.

빅데이터를 활용한 도시 브랜드 이미지 분석과 응용 해석 (City Brand Image of Dubai Using Big Data Analytics : Application of Interpretation Methods)

  • The city image is considered one of important symbolic and important factors in selecting the travel destination. Many cities are trying to be an attractive and popular city to tourists through the construction of a good brand image by utilizing their representative characteristics. This study measures the city brand image by applying a big data analytic method. In addition, the big data measurement results were rearranged and analyzed to identify further detailed city images by utilizing several previous interpretation methods. Our study has chosen Dubai since this city has the diverse images due to its regional as well as economic characteristics. In particular, nowadays Dubai has been recognized as one of the most important touristic places in the Middle East region for its modern and innovative images in spite of the limitations of location, weather, religion, and even political issues of neighbor countries. Founded on a big data analysis rather than a questionnaire-based survey, the presented interpretation methods are evaluated to improve the understanding of Dubai's diverse city images. In addition, based on the results of this research, it is expected to have a practical impact on establishing the effective marketing strategies to build and implement the valuable city brand image.

The Role of Forensic Engineering in the Diagnosis of Electrocution Fatalities: Two Case Reports

  • The increase in the number of fatal electric accidents over the years has escalated the demand for specialized forensic engineers to determine their relevant technical causes. Likewise, the complexities associated with identifying the causes of electrocution accidents have prompted the General Department of Forensic Science and Criminology at Dubai Police to adopt a new methodology to diagnose electrocution accidents, consisting of an approach that involves medico-legal examination, electrical diagnosis of the evidence, and trace evidence analysis. This paper will discuss the application of the adopted method in further detail by unfolding two case reports. The first report outlines a case in which a worker got electrocuted at a construction site while attempting to turn on a lamp. The second case report involves the death of a technician in a workshop after trying to disconnect a washing machine from its plug. The methodology was utilized during the investigation of both cases, which were attended by the appointed forensic engineers and showed promising results.

This paper offers a comprehensive overview of the contemporary evolution of tall buildings, with a particular emphasis on the Middle East. It surveys tall building development in the ten "tallest cities" across the Middle East, including Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Riyadh, Manama, Tel Aviv, Kuwait, Mecca, and Jeddah, while listing the tallest ten buildings in each city. The focus sharpens on Dubai, UAE, serving as a compelling case study that vividly illustrates the city's swift metamorphosis from a low-rise to a high-rise urban center. Through meticulous examination, the study aims to unveil the key drivers propelling the construction of the world's tallest buildings, asserting that globalization factors play a pivotal role in fostering this transformative shift. The impetus behind this surge is rooted in the aspiration to project a modern and progressive image on the global stage. 홀 추력기를 이용한 두바이셋-2 위성의 궤도변화 분석 (Orbit Evolution Analysis of DubaiSat-2 using Hall-effect Thruster)

  • 본 논문에서는 국내에서 개발된 인공위성 중 최초로 홀 추력기(Hall-effect Thruster)를 탑재한 두바이셋-2(DubiaSat-2)호의 궤도를 분석하여 홀 추력기의 성능을 검증하였다. 두바이셋-2호가 발사된 2013년 11월 21일(UTC) 이후 8개월간의 초기 궤도 운용을 위한 준비 및 수행 결과들에 대해 중점을 두었으며, 임무 수행 기간 중 태양활동이 궤도 변화에 미치는 영향력을 함께 분석하였다. 특히, 증가한 추력에 따른 실제 궤도 변화와 예측된 궤도를 비교하여 분석한 결과 홀 추력기는 지상 실험 결과와 유사한 11 mN 추력을 발생하고 있는 것을 확인하였다. 본 논문에서 정리된 내용은 추후 홀 추력기를 탑재한 인공위성의 초기 및 정상 임무기간 동안 궤도 운용 시 안정성과 효율성을 높이는데 주요 참고자료가 될 것으로 판단된다.
