Renal dipeptidase (RDPase, membrane dipeptidase, dehydropeptidase 1, EC 3.4.13.19) has been widely studied since it was first purified from porcine kidney brush border membrane. It was reported that RDPase activity in urine samples of acute and chronic renal failure patients decreases. Nitric oxide (NO) is a highly reactive free radical involved in a number of physiological and pathological processes. NO is able to act in a dual mode, leading either to induction of apoptosis or to blunted execution of programmed cell death. NO inhibited the RDPase release from porcine renal proximal tubules, which could be blocked by L-NAME. Chitosan, the linear polymer of D-glucosamine in $\beta$(1\longrightarrow4) linkage, not only reversed the decreased RDPase release by NO but also increased NO production in the proximal tubule cells. The stimulatory effect of NO on RDPase release from proximal tubules in the presence of chitosan must be different from the previously proposed mechanism of RDPase release via NO signaling pathway. Chitosan stimulated the RDPase release in the proximal tubules and increased RDPase activity to 220% and 250% at 0.1% and 1%, respectively. RDPase release was decreased to about 40% in the injured proximal tubules and was recovered in proportion to the increase of chitosan. Chitosan may be useful in recovery of renal function from $HgCl_2$injury.

In order to produce high quality paper at the lowest cost in high speed, typically various polyelectrolytes as retention aids were used. Retention systems such as single polymer system, dual polymer system, and microparticle system were used. The objective of this study was to analyze the changes of retention, drainage, formation and fracture toughness depending on types of retention system, molecular weight of C-PAM and dosage sequences of agents. When single polymer system was applied, retention was increased with poor formation and drainage. When common microparticle system(C-PAM/bentonite) was used, high molecular weight PAM gave high retention and fast drainage, but poor formation. When the microparticle system with reverse dosage sequence(bentonite/C-PAM) was used, low molecular weight PAM gave high retention, fast drainage and good formation. When various retention agents were applied, fracture toughness was increased than that of blank. When using high molecular weight PAM and consequently causing excessive flocculation, fracture toughness was decreased.
As a way to raise the brand value of each area and activate local industries, public design projects have been competitively made. Meanwhile, public design has the characteristics of having an uncertain number of users, people with different interests, and management of the design by an administrative organization. Such characteristics may be obstacles to the results of public design and finally can cause many problems in a project's results. However, although most local governments have executed public design projects, systematic research for them and organized execution of the projects has been insufficient. For successful realization, proper organization, and consistent public design, research on a strategic design process is needed. Therefore, this study investigated the current status of public design projects to understand problems in the design process and solve them. The results are presented as follows: First, the design process for public spaces has a dual structure including a specialized process of design development in its execution and management and the execution process in the planning state is unsatisfactory and the process of designer selection is not consistent. Second, as a result of investigating the current status of the design process for public spaces, it was deduced that as most of the projects have been subjectively and temporarily managed by wholly charged organizations without specialized consultation or investigation with different related departments, there have been diverse problems in securing design quality. Third, as a result of analysing the specific execution processes carefully, it was suggested that problems in the process can be solved by decisions through consultation and discussion. As well supportive consultation systems should be used actively.
Objective: Nanog, a homeodomain protein, has been investigated in humans and mice using embryonic stem cells (ESCs). Because of the limited availability of ESCs, few studies have reported the function and role of Nanog in porcine ESCs. Therefore, in this study, we investigated the location of the porcine Nanog chromosome and its basal promoter activity, which might have potential applications in development of ESCs specific marker as well as understanding its operating systems in the porcine. Methods: To characterize the porcine Nanog promoter, the 5'-flanking region of Nanog was isolated from cells of mini-pig ears. BLAST database search showed that there are two porcine Nanog genomic loci, chromosome 1 and 5, both of which contain an exon with a start codon. Deletion mutants from the 5'-flanking region of both loci were measured using the Dual-Luciferase Reporter Assay System, and a fluorescence marker, green fluorescence protein. Results: Promoter activity was detected in the sequences of chromosome 5, but not in those of chromosome 1. We identified the sequences from -99 to +194 that possessed promoter activity and contained transcription factor binding sites from deletion fragment analysis. Among the transcription factor binding sites, a Sp1 was found to play a crucial role in basal promoter activity, and point mutation of this site abolished its activity, confirming its role in promoter activity. Furthermore, gel shift analysis and chromatin immunoprecipitation analysis confirmed that Sp1 transcription factor binds to the Sp1 binding site in the porcine Nanog promoter. Taken together, these results show that Sp1 transcription factor is an essential element for porcine Nanog basal activity the same as in human and mouse. Conclusion: We showed that the porcine Nanog gene is located on porcine chromosome 5 and its basal transcriptional activity is controlled by Sp1 transcription factor.
In this paper, we present a new approach to detect and recognize human face in the image from vision camera equipped on the mobile robot platform. Due to the mobility of camera platform, obtained facial image is small and pose-various. For this condition, new algorithm should cope with these constraints and can detect and recognize face in nearly real time. In detection step, ‘coarse to fine’ detection strategy is used. Firstly, region boundary including face is roughly located by dual ellipse templates of facial color and on this region, the locations of three main facial features- two eyes and mouth-are estimated. For this, simplified facial feature maps using characteristic chrominance are made out and candidate pixels are segmented as eye or mouth pixels group. These candidate facial features are verified whether the length and orientation of feature pairs are suitable for face geometry. In recognition step, pseudo-convex hull area of gray face image is defined which area includes feature triangle connecting two eyes and mouth. And random lattice line set are composed and laid on this convex hull area, and then 2D appearance of this area is represented. From these procedures, facial information of detected face is obtained and face DB images are similarly processed for each person class. Based on facial information of these areas, distance measure of match of lattice lines is calculated and face image is recognized using this measure as a classifier. This proposed detection and recognition algorithms overcome the constraints of previous approach [15], make real-time face detection and recognition possible, and guarantee the correct recognition irregardless of some pose variation of face. The usefulness at mobile robot application is demonstrated.
Background: In the last two decades, pioneering research on anti-tumour activity of saffron has shed light on the role of crocetin, picrocrocin and safranal, as broad spectrum anti-neoplastic agents. However, the exact mechanisms have yet to be elucidated. Identification and characterization of the targets of bioactive constituents will play an imperative role in demystifying the complex anti-neoplastic machinery. Methods: In the quest of potential target identification, a dual virtual screening approach utilizing two inverse screening systems, one predicated on idTarget and the other on PharmMapper was here employed. A set of target proteins associated with multiple forms of cancer and ranked by Fit Score and Binding energy were obtained from the two independent inverse screening platforms. The validity of the results was checked by meticulously analyzing the post-docking binding pose of the picrocrocin with Hsp90 alpha in AutoDock. Results: The docking pose reveals that electrostatic and hydrogen bonds play the key role in inter-molecular interactions in ligand binding. Picrocrocin binds to the Hsp90 alpha with a definite orientation appropriate for nucleophilic attacks by several electrical residues inside the Hsp90-alpha ATPase catalytic site. Conclusion: This study reveals functional information about the anti-tumor mechanism of saffron bioactive constituents. Also, a tractable set of anti-neoplastic targets for saffron has been generated in this study which can be further authenticated by in vivo and in vitro experiments.

The acoustical response of fish depends on size and physical structure na, most important, on the presence or absence of a swimbladder. Acoustic scattering models for swimbladdered fish represent a fish by an ideal pressure-release surface having the size and shape as the swimbladder. Target strength experiments of red seabream (Chrysophrys major) have been conducted using 38 (split-beam), 120 (split-beam) and 200kHz (dual-beam) frequencies. At each start of each experiment, the live fish are placed in the cage at the surface, then the cage is lowed to about $4{\cal}m$ depth where it remains during the measurements. To test the acoustic models, predictions of target strength based on swimbladder morphometries of 10 red seabream offish total length from $103{\cal}mm{\;}to{\;}349{\cal}mm$ ($3 <$TL/\lambda$ < 45)are compared with conventional target strength measurements on the same, shock-frozen immediately after caged experiments. X-ray was projected along dorsal aspect to know the morphological construction of swimbladder. and fish body. At high frequencies, Helmholtz-kirchhoff(HK) approximation would greatly enhance swimbladdered fish modeling. Sound scattering model [HK-ray approximation model] for comparison to experimental target strength data was used to model backscatter measurements from individual fish. As manufacturing industries become globalized, product design affects every area of organization. The design sets the goals for a number of different departments, so if it fails to effectively communicate these goals, the entire organization is less efficient. In addition, To communicate clearly, the design must represent a product that meets its technical specification. GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) is one of the most important factors, which has an effect on efficiency of manufacture system, in designing products. However, most of designers in different industries are prone to ignore the importance of GD&T. To analyse the importance of GD&T compliance with international standards for design drawing, a comparison analysis of the difference between two methods, composite profile control and multiple single segment profile control, is performed on three different cases and suggests how it used to be more suitable. Composite profile tolerance is specified by a dual feature control frame that has one profile symbol specified with two lines of tolerance information. Whereas a multiple single segment profile control is when two or more single segment profile callouts are used to define the location and/or orientation and/or size and/or form of a part feature. In this study, the following results will be provided : a clear definition and an obvious difference of the tolerance zone, datums and datums sequence and minimization of tolerances. On this study, composite profile tolerance and multiple single segment profile tolerance were discussed. Next steps of research will consist on reaching more accurate results for profile control. Further research will be focused on dealing with the remaining 14 symbols of GD&T.

In this paper, we investigate secure communication with the presence of multiple eavesdroppers (Eves) in a two-tier downlink dense heterogeneous network, wherein there is a macrocell base station (MBS) and multiple femtocell base stations (FBSs). Each base station (BS) has multiple users. And Eves attempt to wiretap a macrocell user (MU). To keep Eves ignorant of the confidential message, we propose a physical-layer security scheme based on cross-layer cooperation to exploit interference in the considered network. Under the constraints on the quality of service (QoS) of other legitimate users and transmit power, the secrecy rate of system can be maximized through jointly optimizing the beamforming vectors of MBS and cooperative FBSs. We explore the problem of maximizing secrecy rate in both non-colluding and colluding Eves scenarios, respectively. Firstly, in non-colluding Eves scenario, we approximate the original non-convex problem into a few semi-definite programs (SDPs) by employing the semi-definite relaxation (SDR) technique and conservative convex approximation under perfect channel state information (CSI) case. Furthermore, we extend the frame to imperfect CSI case and use the Lagrangian dual theory to cope with uncertain constraints on CSI. Secondly, in colluding Eves scenario, we transform the original problem into a two-tier optimization problem equivalently. Among them, the outer layer problem is a single variable optimization problem and can be solved by one-dimensional linear search. While the inner-layer optimization problem is transformed into a convex SDP problem with SDR technique and Charnes-Cooper transformation. In the perfect CSI case of both non-colluding and colluding Eves scenarios, we prove that the relaxation of SDR is tight and analyze the complexity of proposed algorithms. Finally, simulation results validate the effectiveness and robustness of proposed scheme.

ISO/IEC/WD 24753 defines new modem specifications for a long-range RFID communications and application protocol for a sensor tag system. According to the standard, the frequency offset of the tag is 4%. In general wireless communications systems, it is known that a coherent receiver is superior to a non-coherent receiver. However, if the frequency offset is large, it is difficult to restore the original data accurately with a coherent receiver, and the performance of a coherent receiver is easily degraded. In this paper, a non-coherent receiver structure is adopted to solve the frequency offset problem of long-range RFID communications. We designed a frequency estimation block to find an optimal frequency from the received signal with 4% frequency offset and proposed a start frame delimiter (SFD) detection algorithm to determine the start position of the payload. The frequency estimation block finds the optimal frequency from the received signal using 9-correlators. And the SFD detection block searches the received signal to find the start position of the payload with dual correlator. We implemented a long-range RFID reader with the proposed methods and evaluated its performance in a wired/wireless test network. The implemented long-range RFID reader showed more superior performance than the commercial RFID reader in terms of recognition range.
