Asymmetrical Pulse-Width-Modulated Full-Bridge Secondary Dual Resonance DC-DC Converter

  • A full-bridge secondary dual-resonant DC-DC converter using the asymmetrical pulse-width modulated (APWM) strategy is proposed in this paper. The proposed converter achieves zero-voltage switching for the power switches and zero-current switching for the rectifier diodes in the whole load range without the help of any auxiliary circuit. Given the use of the APWM strategy, a circulating current that exists in a traditional phase-shift full-bridge converter is eliminated. The voltage stress of secondary rectifier diodes in the proposed converter is also clamped to the output voltage. Thus, the existing voltage oscillation of diodes in traditional PSFB converters is eliminated. This paper presents the circuit configuration of the proposed converter and analyzes its operating principle. Experimental results of a 1 kW 385 V/48 V prototype are presented to verify the analysis results of the proposed converter.

Propagation Characteristics of GIS PD Signals by Dual UHF Band Method (2)

  • It is widely known that the ultra high frequency (UHF) method that detects the electromagnetic wave of the PD pulses in the gas insulated space is one of the most competitive methods for its high sensitivity. From the above point of view, this paper describes the propagation characteristics of GIS PD signals measured with ultra wide band (UWB) GIS PD detecting system in which PD signals are detected into the dual UHF band. The UWB PD detection system consists of the UWB UHF coupler, the UWB low noise amplifier (LNA) and the oscilloscope. The dual bands for PD signals are 0.5-2GHz(full band) and 1-2GHz(high band). As results, propagation characteristics of GIS PD signals were measured in the mock-up GIS bus and it was found that the propagation characteristics of the high band showed a better result in accordance with the infernal configuration of the GIS bus than those of the full band.

Redundancy of Dual and Steel Moment Frame Systems under Earthquakes

  • The reliability/redundancy of structural system has become a serious concern among engineers and researchers after structural failures in Northridge and Kobe earthquakes. The reliability/redundancy factor, ρ, in current codes considers only member force and floor area and has received much criticism from dissatisfied engineers. Within a reliability framework. the redundancy is investigated for dual systems of primary shear walls and secondary moment frames and steel moment frame systems. Probabilistic performance analyses are carried out baled on nonlinear responses under SAC ground motion. The effects of structural configuration, ductilily capacity, 3-D motion, and uncertainty of demand verses capacity are investigated. Important redundancy-contributing factors are identified and a uniform-risk redundancy factor is developed for design. The result are compared with the p factor and its inconsistency is pointed out.

A new insight into design of acoustic liner arrays arrangement in the presence of a grazing flow

  • This study evaluated the acoustic performance of two configurations of serial HR arrays and lined HR arrays in the presence of grazing flow using a 3D numerical simulation. The dual, triple, and quad HR arrays were compared to the conventional HR array. The simulation results showed that the number of resonant frequencies increased with the number of serial HR arrays. The CTL did not significantly change with the number of serial HR arrays. The acoustic performance of the two, three, and four-lined HR arrays was compared to the conventional HR array. The results showed that the resonant frequency and TLmax increased with the number of lined HR arrays. The CTL also increased with the number of lined HR arrays. The effect of the grazing flow Mach number (Ma) was investigated on the four-lined HR array configuration and compared to the conventional HR configuration. TLmax and CTL decreased for both configurations with increasing Ma. The four-lined HR array configuration had significantly better acoustic performance than the conventional HR configuration. The TLmax and CTL increased by more than 300% when the configuration was changed from the conventional HR to the four-lined HR array at Ma = 0.The increment percentage decreased with increasing Ma.

  • In this paper, we describe the configuration of the KITSAT-3 image data receiving, archiving, processing and distribution system in operation. Following the low-cost and software-based design concept, the whole system is composed of three PCs : two for data receiving, archiving and processing which provide a full dual-redundant configuration and one for image catalog browsing which can be accessed by public users. Except that receiving and archiving PCs have serial data ingest boards plugged in, they are configured by general peripherals. This basic and simple hardware configuration made it possible to show that a very low cost system can support a full ground operation for the utilization of high-resolution satellite image data.

An international Comparison Measurement of Silicon Wafer Sheet Resistance using the Four-point Probe Method

  • With approval from the Asia Pacific Metrology Program Working Group on Materials Metrology (APMP WGMM), an international comparison for sheet resistance standards for silicon wafers was firstly conducted among Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science (KRISS) in Korea, CMS/ITRI in Taiwan, and NIM in China, which are national metrology institutes (NMIs), from August 2011 to January 2012. The sheet resistance values of the standards are $10{\Omega}$, $100{\Omega}$, and $1000{\Omega}$; the measurement was conducted in sequence at KRISS, CMS/ITRI, NIM, and KRISS again using the four-point probe method with single and dual configuration techniques. The reference value for the measurement results of the three NMIs was obtained through averaging the values of the three results for each sheet resistance range. The differences between the reference value and the measured values is within 0.22% for $10{\Omega}$, 0.17% for $100{\Omega}$, and 0.12% for $1000{\Omega}$. Therefore, the international consistency for conducting sheet resistance measurements is confirmed within 0.22% through the APMP WGMM approved comparison.

해상풍력발전 지지구조물의 유지보수용 수중 기둥등반로봇에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on an Underwater Pole Climb Robot for the Maintenance of Offshore Wind Turbine Substructures)

  • Maintenance works of offshore wind turbines could take a longer time, which causes the reduction of their energy production efficiency, than those of onshore wind turbines owing to severe offshore environment. Subsequently, preventive maintenance measures are required to increase the production efficiency. Thus, we proposed a wheel-based Underwater Pole Climbing Robot (UPCR) platform, which was aimed at the periodic inspection and maintenance of the substructures of the offshore wind turbines, with three advantages: high speed, good mobility and low power consumption. In the proposed platform, a self-locking system using a gripper module was adopted for preventing slippery problem and a dual configuration was chosen for moving on a branched structure. As a result, the proposed robot was able to continuously climb, preserve it's position at the pole without consuming energy, and move from the pole to the other branched pole. The results of this research show that the UPCR has basic moving capabilities required for the underwater work for the substructures of the offshore wind turbines.

  • 이중램제트(이중연소 및 이중모드) 추진기관의 작동특성 및 주요 설계인자를 파악하기 위하여 램제트/스크램제트 추진기관에 대한 공기 및 열역학적 관점에서 이론적인 분석을 수행하였다. 엔진의 효율계수를 적용한 열역학 사이클 해석을 수행하여 각 추진기관의 성능특성을 파악하고, 흡입구 성능 특성, 연소기 입구 마하수, 연소기 형상 및 당량비(연료분사량)에 따른 성능민감도를 분석하였다. 이를 바탕으로 이중램제트 추진기관의 성능설계방향을 제안한다.

히트펌프 직렬운전에 의한 성능 향상 가능성에 관한 연구 (Potential Performance Enhancement of Dual Heat Pump Systems through Series Operation)

  • 본 연구에서는 두 대의 히트펌프를 이용하여 $60^{\circ}C$의 난방 공급을 하는 경우에 대하여, 병렬운전을 할 경우의 성능과 직렬운전을 할 경우의 성능을 서로 비교함으로써, 직렬운전에 의한 성능 향상 가능성을 연구하였다. 두 경우의 성능을 공정하게 비교하기 위하여, 히트펌프를 구성하는 열교환기의 전열면적을 고정하였으며, 부하측 및 열원측의 입구 유량 및 온도 조건을 고정하였다. 또한, 보다 현실적인 결과를 위하여 열교환기 내 열전달 및 압력강하 특성을 고려하였다. 시뮬레이션 결과, 직렬운전 시스템의 난방성능계수가 병렬운전 시스템의 난방성능계수에 비해 본 연구의 시뮬레이션 조건 하에서 약 5% 향상 될 수 있음을 관찰하였다.
