Microencapsulation of pine flavors was investigated to determine the optimum wall material and spray drying condition. ${\beta}$-Cyclodextrin, maltodextrin, and a 3:1 mixture of maltodextrin and gum arabic were evaluated as wall materials. The latter mixture was determined to be the best wall material based on dispersion capacity and flavor yield. Spray drying effectiveness was evaluated using a $3^3$ fraction factorial design and statistical analysis. The optimum operation condition was an inlet air temperature of $175^{\circ}C$, inlet airflow rate of $0.65\;m^3/min$ and atomizing pressure of 180 kPa, which resulted in a 93% flavor yield. The best particle shape observed by SEM was a round globular shape obtained under the above spray drying condition, whereas lower temperatures and higher inlet airflow rates resulted in initial and full collapses, respectively. The round globular shapes remained stable for at least one month.

Hot air drying is a method that let moistures evaporate by heat exchange between heating air and dry target. This way is dominating more than about 70% of dryers that the use extent is wide fairly, and is established in domestic than dryer that use conduction or radiation etc. Most of research about drying had been emphasized in size of device through analysis for these dry phenomenon plain, heating topology, and aspect of form and so on by dry target's special quality, and research about device development or waste heat withdrawal technology in energy utilization efficiency side is slight real condition. Therefore, in this study, Investigated numerically about thermal efficiency elevation that is leaned against as that change the temperature of inlet and outlet in heat exchanger of the hot air drying tower.

Dry Process(natural drying, hot-air drying, oil fry drying), optimized mixture ratio and the condition of carbonization was carried out in order to improve the product durability develop eco-friendly solid fuel mixing food waste and paper sludge. As a result of the experiment, oil fry drying process was the fastest method for drying food waste and paper sludge mixture that contains 80% water inside, and the optimized mixture ratio to minimize the generating concentration of chlorine gas against caloric value of mixture ratio was 7:3. Additionally proper temperature of product carbonization was about $200^{\circ}C$ and shown increasing product durability through the carbonization. Therefore, the pelletized solid fuel be shaped diameter around 0.5cm, length 2cm under which was pulverized and molded using 7:3 mixture of food waste, and paper sludge was the eco-friendly solid fuel possible to be industrialized which is consist of chlorine concentration of below 2.0wt% and the lowest caloric value of over 5,000kcal/kg. In conclusion, this developing manufacturing process of the solid fuel can be interpreted to contribute alternative energy development in accordance with low carbon and green growth era.
Mn-Zn ferrite granules were prepared by spray drying of the slurry containing different kinds and concentration of binders at various spray drying temperatures and atomizing pressures. The characteristics of the spraydried granules were analyzed according to the processing variables of spray drying and the slurries containing different solid loading and kinds and concentration of binders. Typical shape of the spray dried granules was spherical. The granules spray dried at 15$0^{\circ}C$ were more spherical and containing lower hollow percentage than any other granules prepared at higher temperature. The granules prepared at higher atomizing pressures were more spherical and become smaller in size. The granules prepared using slurry containing higher solid loading were larger in size and less defective in shape. As increasing the concentration of binder the number of donut-shaped granules was increased and the size distribution become broader. The granules prepared using the slurry containing PVA 205 were more spherical than those containing PVA 217 and PVA 117. As the amount of granules which were donut-shaped or dimpled increased the compaction response were less effective. The hollows were not fractured completely even at hight pressures and remained after sintering.

In Condebelt press drying system, the temperature difference between top and bottom plate of Condebelt transfers water to bottom side, Fine fibers, stickies , ink , and various inorganic materials are also migrated to the fine wire located at the bottom plate by highly pressurized moisture flow. As a result, the fine wire contaminated by plugging of these fine and sticky materials can cause many problems such as blistering or partial crushing of paper. The contaimination of fine wire leads to a deterioroated strength together with uneven physical properties of paper. In this paper, froth-flotatiion method, which is commonly used in the field of ONP recycling process, were adopted to separate the contaminants in KOCC as a new fiber fractionation method. Standard deviation of paper strength and brighteness decreased of Condebelt fine wire were measured to investigate the effect of contaminants removal . The standard deviations of paper strength obtained from the flotated accept were not dependent on the number of condebelt press drying . However, in the case of untreated KOCC, the standard deviations were increased as press drying repeated. This indicates that the contaminant gives uneven physical properties to the paper by wire plugging . Optical and SEM images clearly illustrate the effect of contaminants on the wire condition.

Thermal drying is a common process used in the food industry for the modification of agricultural products. However, while various studies have investigated the alteration in physiochemical properties and chemical composition after drying, research focusing on the relationship between different dehydration conditions and bioactivity is scarce. In the current study, we prepared dried ginger under nine different conditions by varying the processing time and temperature and compared their immunomodulatory effects. Interestingly, depending on the drying condition, there were significant differences in the immunestimulating activity of the dried ginger samples. Gingers processed at $50^{\circ}C$ 1h displayed the strongest activation of macrophages measured by $TNF-{\alpha}$ and IL-6 levels, whereas, freezedried or $70^{\circ}C$- and $90^{\circ}C$-dried ginger showed little effect. Similar results were recapitulated in primary bone marrow-derived macrophages, further confirming that different dehydration conditions can cause significant differences in the immune-stimulating activity of ginger. Induction of ERK, p38, and JNK signaling was found to be the major underlying molecular mechanism responsible for the immunomodulatory effect of ginger. These results highlight the potential to improve the bioactivity of functional foods by selectively controlling processing conditions.

Drying process is involved in the production of various products including food, textiles, paper, pharmaceuticals, and batteries. Phase change of liquid to vapor generally requires enormous thermal energy, so in order to save energy, it is advantageous to develop an appropriate drier and use it under appropriate operating conditions, depending on the characteristics of materials. However, due to the complex, multiscale heat and mass transfer occurring during drying processes, predictions of appropriate drying conditions before actual operation are not easily achieved, leading to challenges in designing driers. Here, we developed a lab-scale experimental setup to evaluate the performance of band dries. The experimental setup was used to measure the moisture content and temperature change in the materials being dried in a belt dryer. Experimental results obtained using our lab-scale setup allow us to predict the performance of a full-scale band drier, thus suggesting a practical framework for predicting the drying process of various materials and developing band driers.
This study was carried out to investigate the effect of germination condition and drying temperature on growth and physicochemical properties of brown rice. Three brown rice seeds of Ilpumbyeo, Dasanbyeo and Heugjinjubyeo were stored at room temperature for six weeks to test the time-sequence germination viability. Relatively stable germination ratio was maintained until 2 weeks after storage. However, 3 weeks after storage, germination ratio of brown rice seeds started to decrease rapidly and their germination ratio was lower than 80%. For this reason, brown rice was recommended for seeding within 2 weeks after hulling. During the initial 5 days, germination ratio of 24 hours pre-soaking brown rice was higher about 2-3% than that of non-soaking brown rice. The $25^{\circ}C$ was considered as the most favorable temperature for brown rice germination, because of the high germination ratio and desirable coleoptile growth of the brown rice, and little seed rotting symptoms. The scanning electron micrographs showed the structural differences between hot-air dried and freeze dried germinated-brown rice kernel. In the freeze dried germinated-brown rice, seed coat (pericarp, tegmen and aleurone layer) was mechanically disrupted from the endosperm, and many cleavages were observed among starch storing cells and starch granules. The endosperm of freeze-dried brown rice kernels formed the sponge-like structures and showed the fragile traits. For this reason, hot-air drying is considered as more suitable method than freeze drying for germinated-brown rice. The crude protein and amylose contents were slightly changed, but there were no significant differences during the germination period. Crude fiber content was decreased, but crude Int and total amino acid contents were increased as seeding days increased. A rapid increase in $\alpha$-amylase activities of germinating brown rice was observed at S days after seeding, and $\alpha$-amylase activities were decreased from 8 days after seeding. Total free sugar contents were decreased during the germination period. There was continuous decline in the contents of sucrose and glucose until 8 days after seeding, but fructose and maltose content were gradually increased from the 5 days after seeding.

One of the most important factor of esthetic prosthesis is the color of the teeth. Zirconia is produced in the process of design, milling, coloring, drying, and sintering. The effect of the drying degree of zirconia colorant on the color tone is examined. For the experiment, a total of 45 zirconia specimens(15 for each) were fabricated by using cad/cam system. The zirconia specimens(L block(LAZOR), Z block(Zircos-E block posterior), A block(AlphaZ)) were then subjected to zirconia sintering in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, using a chemical coloring agent to Non-drying(0sec), intermediate (10sec), and completely dried (10min) temperature holding times. The color tone was measured using a spectrophotometer. The results were analyzed with a One-way analysis of variance and the Tukey post-hoc test (${\alpha}=.05$) The $L^*$ values of L, A specimens, $a^*$ values of A specimens, and $b^*$ values of Z specimens were not statistically different according to the degree of drying (p>0.05), While the $L^*$ value of Z specimen, $a^*$ value of L, Z specimen, $b^*$ values of L, A specimens were statistically different according to the degree of drying(p <0.05). In conclusion, the drying of zirconia colourants improves zirconia brightness and increases the optical properties of the enamel.
This study was carried out to understand the problems, and find out the solution of post - Harvest related procedures for barley in Korea. Consecutive post - harvest procedures in harvesting, drying, milling, packaging and marketing methods were collaborately surveyed at Bujeok (Chungchongnamdo) and Kunsuh (Cholanamdo) agricultural cooperative federation where Chalssalbori (waxy barley) and Ssalbori (non waxy barley) were collectively cultivated in a group farming area, respectively. An early harvesting and relatively short harvesting period within 15 to 20 days to transplanting rice plants as a succeeding crop lead to produce undergrade barley and 2 to 3% harvesting loss were considered as the problem that should be improved. In drying of barley, wide moisture content range of harvested barley among the different farmers and cultivation land was made difficult barley drying unifomly when they were dried in same dryer and drying temperature was slightely higher with 50 to 70$\^{C}$ than that of optimum temperature (under 50$\^{C}$) fer barley drying for producing the high quality barley. Dried barley packaged in ton-bag or 3P bag and put into the rectangular grain bin were stored in ambient temperature warehouse and milled for marketing through whole you. The physico-chemical properties and taste of stored barley were fairly maintained until May next year.
