Quality Characteristics of Kwamegi (Semi-dried Coloabis saira) During Cold Air Drying after Washing with Various Washing Solutions (살균소독수로 세척한 후 냉풍건조한 꽁치과메기의 품질특성)

  • In this study, the microbial control effect after treatment of washing solutions (tap water, electrolyzed water, chlorine dioxide solution) and quality changes were investigated when Kwamegi is produced by means of the cold air drying. The initial moisture rate of the sample was 56.62% before drying. At the beginning of drying period, moisture rate sharply fell down but as the experiment progressed, moisture reducing rate was smoothly decreased. The color difference of Kwamegi before drying was 42.40, but it was reduced depending on the increment of drying temperature and time. TBA value of the initial sample was 0.219, rancidity were increased continuously when drying progressed. Total amino acid content was showed the highest value at $25^{\circ}C$ for 36h and the lowest at $40^{\circ}C$ for 12h. From the fatty acids analysis, major fatty acids were consisted of the 14:0, 16:0 and 18:1 (18.1520.96%, 28.0632.51% and 17.0619.81%, respectively). The microbial control effect was biggest when Kwamegi was washed with chlorine dioxide 100ppm for 60s. The microbe of the Kwamegi, Pseudomonas sp. and Pseudomonas putida were identified.

A Study on the RDF making Process of Heat-dried Sludge from Cheonan by using Oil-drying Method (유중건조를 이용한 천안시 열건조물의 고형연료화 공정 연구)

  • This study examined the optimal manufacturing conditions of RDF using heat-dried sludge from sewage treatment plant in Cheonan with the oil-drying method. The amounts of oil evaporation and oil drying of the heat-dried sludge were measured at different temperatures to evaluate the value of the product. The performance of the product was then measured using a calorimeter and TGA. In addition, the concentration of odor, NH3, H2S, and TVOC during drying was determined using a portable odor-meter. Ingredient analysis was performed by EDS. Considering mass-production, the oil to heat-dried sludge weight ratio was fixed to 4:1. At $130^{\circ}C$, only physical mixing occurred after the instantaneous drying of internal water. Considering the eco-friendly aspects, there was no significant difference in the drying efficiency between $160^{\circ}C$ and $190^{\circ}C$. Therefore, the optimal conditions were a drying temperature of $160^{\circ}C$ within 5 minutes. Finally, the RDF manufactured in this study and fuel used in the thermal power plants were compared. The calorific value was 4,449kcal/kg, the water content was 2% and the ash content was 34%, which is higher than the fuel of thermal power plants. Therefore, it is believed that coal energy as well as wood pellets can be replaced.

  • To investigate the forecasting of plant disease and insect for an agricultural complex and farm in environment-friendly cultivation of Rice, environment-friendly agricultural five complexs and five farms were selected in Youngam and Naju area, Jonnam, Korea. Preventation objects of plant disease and insect were leaf blast, neck blast, sheath blight, bacterial leaf blight, and hopper. Factors of sheath blight occurrence in environment-friendly agricultural complex were a fast transplanting time and a narrow planting density. Bacterial leaf blight in rice occurred severely in the area under water. Rice growth in environment-friendly agricultural complex was decreased heavy drying by hopper appearance.

  • The purpose of the present study is to identify the drying cylinder model in paper plants and to analyze characteristics of process responses for changes in input variables. The model developed in this work is based on actual plant operation data and the steam pressure applied to the cylinder behaves as one the main variables. It is found that heat transfer coefficients from the condensate to the canvas could be represented as empirical relations based on heat conductivities and operation date. The effectiveness of the cylinder model is demonstrated by the measured moisture contents and web temperature. Using transfer functions derived from the cylinder model stability of the drying process is analyzed.

  • Generally, liquid radioactive wastes generated in nuclear power plant exist in powder form which do not contain moisture through the evaporating process of the Liquid Waste Management System and drying process of the Concentrated Waste Drying System. This powder form wastes are blended homogeneously with paraffin solidification agent and packed in metal drum to ensure its stability during handling and disposal. However, it was experienced that the powder form wastes were not blended homogeneously and separated into two layers in metal drum, on the other hand, a Portion of powder was adhered and solidified to the Inside parts of facility during the blending process. And the flaw of blending process above would come in case the mole ratio of Boron to Sodium in liquid radioactive wastes exceeds 0.2.

Durability properties of mortars with fly ash containing recycled aggregates

  • The rapid development of the construction industry in the world causes a rapid increase in the consumption of aggregate resources, which leads to the depletion of existing aggregate reserves. The use of recycled aggregate in the production of concrete and mortar may be a good solution to reduce the use of natural raw materials and to reduce demolition waste in the environment. In this study investigating the use of recycled aggregate in mortar production, mortar mixtures were produced by substituting 0%, 25%, 50% and 100% fine recycled aggregate (FRA) instead of natural aggregate. The effect of 20% and 40% fly ash (FA) substitutes on cement mortar performance was also investigated. Compressive and flexural strength, drying shrinkage, abrasion resistance, water absorption and capillary water absorption were investigated on the produced mortars. The increase in the use of FRA reduced the compressive and flexural strengths of mortars. While the capillarity coefficients, water absorption, rapid chloride permeability and drying shrinkage of the mortars increased with the increase in the use of FRA, the effect of the use of fly ash on the rate of increase remained lower. The increased use of FRA has improved abrasion resistance as well.

  • The investigation of UV absorbing compounds in saponin fraction of Pnm.1. Kiairnk root was carried out by thin layer chromatography, semipreparative HVLC. l3C, 1H-NMR, mass spectrometry and chemical characteristics in searching plant for growth regulatony substances such as phenolic glycoside. Drying of fresh ginseng at 15 $^{\circ}C$ decreased not only number but also size of UV absorbing sports on TLC. One of the relatively large spots in fresh ginseng was isolated and identified as adenosine, which is subjected for growth stimulatory activity Detection of phenolic glycosides failed in dried root bolt was highly probable in fresh ginseng even with the insufficient amount of sample.

  • The primary purpose of this study is to investigate reusal techniques of by-product produced the combined heat power plant in the construction field, which may contribute to the savings of construction materials and the conservation of enviornment. This study is compared and evaluated by testing the chemical resistance, adiabatic temperature rising test, creep and drying shrinkage. As the result of the study, the following conclusions are derived : (1) hydration heat of the fly ash concrete is less than the plain concrete in adiabatic temperature rising test, (2) the fly axh concrete (FA 30%) is similar to the plain concrete in the chemical resistamce, (3) the fly ash concrete (FA 10, 30%) is similar to the plain concrete in drying shrinkage, but the fly ash concrete (FA 50%) is highly increased, (4) the fly ash concrete (FA 30%) is less than the plain concrete in creep test.

Effect of Drying Temperature on High Quality Functional Processed Products of Chinese Matrimony Vine (가공용 소재로서 구기자나무 잎의 건조온도 조건)

  • Background : Chinese matrimony vine (Lycium chinense Mill.) is a deciduous shrub belonging to the Solanaceae. The leaves are used as an alternative raw material replacing dried fruits associated with high production costs in many industires. The aim of this experiment was to determine the effect of drying temperature on the leaves used in the manufacture of functional products. Methods and Results : The leaves of Chinese matrimony vine were harvested when the plant height reached 60 - 70 cm in the spring and treated at four different temperatures ($40^{\circ}C$, $50^{\circ}C$, $60^{\circ}C$ and $70^{\circ}C$). The time to reach the desiccation state of 20% was 63 h at $40^{\circ}C$, 37 h at $50^{\circ}C$, 17 h at $60^{\circ}C$ and 11 h at $70^{\circ}C$. The drying rate per hour was 1.28% at $40^{\circ}C$, 2.25% at $50^{\circ}C$, 4.94% at $60^{\circ}C$ and 7.60% at $70^{\circ}C$. No significant difference were observed in ash, crude fat, polyphenol or rutin content of treated samples. Crude protein and betaine content decreased with higher dry temperatures. Nitrogen free extract of the treated samples increased with higher drying temperatures. Conclusions : Taking into consideration drying time, drying rate, color value, energy consumption and functional ingredients is advantageous to dry the leaves of the Chinese matrimony vine at $60^{\circ}C$ using a hot air agricultural dryer.

Optimization of Extraction Process for Mass Production of Paclitaxel from plant Cell Cultures (Paclitaxel 대량생산을 위한 추출공정 최적화)

  • Several solvents or combinations of solvents were tested for the extraction of wet or dried biomass at different extraction mode from plant cell cultures. Methanol gave the highest paclitaxel recovery with the least amount of solvent usage. before extraction drying of biomass wass helpful to decrease solvent usage in extraction step./ in this case drying method was very important to obtain high yield from dried biomass. In thid mode of operation counter-current extraction process can be able to decrease solvent usage but paclitaxel recovery was almost same with both batch and counter-current mode of operation. The number of extraction times was at least four to obtain high yield(>99%) from cell and one to obtain highyield(>96%) from cell debris in batch mode. Equilibrium (i.e. the ratio of paclitaxel in biomass to paclitaxel in the extraction solvent) was reached within 5 minutes. The minimum methodal concentration (90%) and solvent amount(biomass : solvent=1 Kg : 1L) are enough to obtain high yield(>98%) for extraction from biomass.
