A survey of Hongryu-Dong and Chi-in district. Gaya National Park, was conducted using 40 sample sites of 500$m^2$ size. TWINSPAN classification confirmed a complex pattern of both local and geographical variation in the vegetation: Dry and wet community types. Within dry community types, two floristic assocation of Pinus densiflora were defined according to local variation. Within wet community types. two floristic association were defined according to altitude. Those associations can be further subdivided floristically into eight subassociation. The vegetation pattern presented by DCA ordination corresponds to one of TWINSPAN at the first two division. The DCA ordination was successful in separating Pinus densiflora from broad leaf forest. Ordination of samples produced arrangements reflectly environmental gradient of soil. The correlation between the first axe of DCA and soil moisture, soil acid, altitude, maximum species diversity and species diversity was significantly negative. The similarity index between each community was very low level.
This paper represents the physical and engineering characteristics of admixed liners obtained from several laboratory tests. Fly ash and weathered granitic soil are selected as primary materials, and bentonite and cement are used as additives. The results show that the maximum dry density reaches peak values at 5% and 25% of bentonite for Seochon and Samchonpo fly ash respectively, and for the weathered granitic soil, the maximum dry density increases continuously as the amount of bentonite increases. The strength of the admixed materials is not sensitive to the bentonite content, although it increases when the additives is cement. The required amount of bentonite to reach the hydraulic conductivity less than 10-7cm/sec are 18, 30, 10% of the sample weights for Seochon and Samchonpo fly ashes and the weathered granitic soil. The amount of additives show significant differences and depend on the grain size and their distributions and the amount of fine content in the primary materials
$K_2CO_3$-based dry regenerable sorbents were prepared by spray-drying techniques to improve mass produced $K_2CO_3-Al_2O_3$ sorbents (KEP-CO2P, hereafter), and then tested for their $CO_2$ sorption capacity by a $2,000Nm^3/h$ (0.5 MWe) $CO_2$ capture pilot plant built for Unit 3 of the Hadong thermal power station in 2010. Each of the sample sorbents contained 35 wt.% $K_2CO_3$ as the active materials with various support materials such as $TiO_2$, MgO, Zeolite 13X, $Al_2O_3$, $SiO_2$ and hydrotalcite (HTC). Their physical properties and reactivity were tested to evaluate their applicability to a fluidized-bed or fast transport-bed $CO_2$ capture process. The $CO_2$ sorption capacity and percentage utilization of $K_2CO_3$-MgO based sorbent, Sorb-KM2, was $8.6g-CO_2/100g$-sorbents and 90%, respectively, along with good mechanical strength for fluidized-bed application. Sorbs-KM2 and KT were almost completely regenerated at $140^{\circ}C$. No degradation of Sorb-KM by $SO_2$ added as a pollutant in flue gas was observed during a cycle test.
Cotton fabrics were treated with gelatin to enhance dyeability and color strength when using Caesalpinia sappan dye. Gelatin was used as the protein and a pad-dry- cure method was used for the treatment process (2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14g/l concentration). Pretreated fabrics were mordanted with 10% alum. Fabrics were then dyed with freeze-dried sappan wood water extract powder form. Dyed samples were assessed in regards to dyeing behavior and color fastness. Comparing untreated and gelatin treated samples from the SEM images indicated that the Gelatin treatment (10g/l) resulted in an enhanced surface roughness that was relative to that of untreated cotton. Padding cotton with gelatin at 6g/l concentration afforded dyed fabrics with a 2 times increase in the K/S value over that of untreated fabrics. All dyed samples were red color with a significant enhancement in the sample color strength (K/S) being observed for pretreated samples. pH values favor dye absorption with pH 7 yielding the highest color strength. Dyeing at an elevated temperature resulted in a lower color strength and reddish-dull color. Longer dyeing times created greater color strengths for untreated and gelatin treated cotton. Increased dye concentrations resulted in higher K/S values for both gelatin treated and untreated cotton. As for color fastness, gelatin treated and untreated cotton fabrics dyed with sappan wood extract showed a relatively low rating in washing fastness (color change 1 rating), light fastness (1 rating), and rubbing fastness (wet:1-2, dry:3-4 rating).

This study was conducted to evaluate the acceptability of cured cooked boneless chicken drumettes as a raw material for Chuncheon Dakgalbi and to observe its effect on pH, lipid oxidation, volatile basic nitrogen (VBN) content and total viable count (TVC) during refrigerated storage under vacuum. Boneless chicken drumettes were dry cured with a mixed curing agent (0.20% w/w) consisting of sodium chloride (93.1%), sodium nitrite (5.9%) and sodium bicarbonate (1.0%) for 24 h at $2{\pm}2^{\circ}C$. Cured samples were cooked using an oven at $150^{\circ}C$ for 20 min and stored at $5.5{\pm}0.5^{\circ}C$ for 60 days under vacuum. Non-cured cooked sample was used as a control. Sensory evaluation was performed on day 2 of storage using 22 untrained panelists and samples were mixed with Dakgalbi sauce and reheated using a microwave for 2 min. There were no significant differences between control and treatment group on appearance, flavor, texture, juiciness and overall acceptability. Cured cooked boneless chicken drumettes had significantly (p<0.05) higher pH, lower lipid oxidation, VBN and TVC consistently during storage in comparison with control. These results suggest that dry curing could be applied to boneless chicken drumettes as raw material for Chuncheon Dakgalbi and could extend its shelf life during refrigerated storage under vacuum.

A high speed NMR quality evaluation sensor was designed , constructed and tested . The device consists of an NMR spectrometer coupled to a conveyor system. The conveyor was run at speeds ranging from 0 to 250 mm/s. Spectral of avocado fruits and one-dimensional magnetic resonance images of pickled olives were acquired while the samples were moving on a conveyor belt mounted through a 20Tesla NMR magnet with a 20 mm diameter surface coil and a 150 mm diameter imaging coil respectively. Fro a magnetic resonance spectrum analysis, motion through variations in the magnetic field tends to narrow spectral line width just like using sample rotation in high resolution NMR to narrow spectral line width. Spectrum analysis was used to detect the dry weight of avocado fruits using the ratio oil and water resonance peaks. Good correlations maximum r=0.970@ 50 mm/s and minimum r=0.894@250mm/s ) between oil and water resonance peak ratio and dry weight of avocados were observed at speeds ra ging from0 to 250mm/s. For the application of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) method, the projections were used to distinguish between pitted and non-pitted olives . Effect of fruit position in the coil was tested and coil degree effects were noticed when projects were generated under dynamic conditions. Various belt speeds (up to 250mm/s) were tested and detection results were compared to static measurements. Higher classification errors were occurred at dynamic conditions compared to errors while olives were at rest.
We investigated Soil respiration in Bluepine forest of western Bhutan, in relation to soil temperature, moisture content and soil pH and it was aimed at establishing variability in space and time. The Bluepine forest thrives in the typical shallow dry valleys in the inter-montane Bhutan Himalaya, which is formed by ascending wind from the valley bottom, which carries moisture from the river away to the mountain ridges. Stratified random sampling was applied and the study site was classified into top, mid, low slope and further randomized sample of n=20 from 30 m×30 m from each altitude. The overall soil respiration mean for the forest was found 2248.17 CO2 g yr-1 and it is ~613.58 C g yr-1. The RS from three sites showed a marginal variation amongst sites, lower slope (2,309 m) was 4.64 μ mol m-2 s-1, mid slope (2,631 m) was 6.78 μ mol m-2 s-1 and top slope (3,027 m) was 6.33 μ mol m-2 s-1 and mean of 5.92 μ mol m-2 s-1, SE=0.25 for the forest. Temporal distribution and variations were observed more pronounced than in the space variation. Soil respiration was found highest during March and lowest in September. Soil temperature had almost inverse trend against soil respiration and dropped a low in February and peak in July. The moisture in the soil changed across months with precipitation and pH remained almost consistent across the period. The soil respiration and soil temperature had significant relationship R2=-0.61, p=0.027 and other variables were found insignificant. Similar relationship are reported for dry season in a tropical forest soil respiration. Soil temperature was found to have most pronounced effect on the soil respiration of the forest under study.

The liquefaction of soil occurs when a soil loses strength and stiffness because of applied stress, such as an earthquake or other changes in stress conditions that result in a loss of cohesion. Hence, a method for improving the strength of liquefiable soil needs to be developed. Many techniques have been presented for their possible applications to mitigate liquefiable soil. Recently, alternative methods using biopolymers (such as xanthan gum, guar gum, and gellan gum), nontraditional additives, have been introduced to stabilize fine-grained soils. However, no studies have been done on the use of carrageenan as a biopolymer for soil improvement. Due to of its rheological and chemical structure, carrageenan may have the potential for use as a biopolymer for soil improvement. This research aims to investigate the effect of adding carrageenan on the soil strength of treated liquefiable soil. The biopolymers used for comparison are carrageenan (as a novel biopolymer), xanthan gum, and guar gum. Then, sand samples were made in cylindrical molds (5 cm × 10 cm) by the dry mixing method. The amount of each biopolymer was 1%, 3%, and 5% of the total sample volume with a moisture content of 20%, and the samples were cured for seven days. In terms of observing the effect of temperature on the carrageenan-treated soil, several samples were prepared with dry sand that was heated in an oven at various temperatures (i.e., 20℃ to 75℃) before mixing. The samples were tested with the direct shear test, UCS test, and SEM test. It can increase the cohesion value of liquefiable soil by 22% to 60% compared to untreated soil. It also made the characteristics of the liquefiable increase by 60% to 92% from very loose sandy soil (i.e., ϕ=29°) to very dense sandy soil. Carrageenan was also shown to have a significant effect on the compressive strength and to exceed the liquefaction limit. Based on the results, carrageenan was found to have the potential for use as an alternative biopolymer.

A previous study (Berzaghi et al., 2001) evaluated the performance of 3 calibration methods, modified partial least squares (MPLS), local PLS (LOCAL) and artificial neural networks (ANN) on the prediction of the chemical composition of forages, using a large NIR database. The study used forage samples (n=25,977) from Australia, Europe (Belgium, Germany, Italy and Sweden) and North America (Canada and U.S.A) with reference values for moisture, crude protein and neutral detergent fibre content. The spectra of the samples were collected using 10 different Foss NIR Systems instruments, only some of which had been standardized to one master instrument. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the behaviour of these different calibration methods when predicting the same samples measured on different instruments. Twenty-two sealed samples of different kind of forages were measured in duplicate on seven instruments (one master and six slaves). Three sets of near infrared spectra (1100 to 2500nm) were created. The first set consisted of the spectra in their original form (unstandardized); the second set was created using a single sample standardization (Clone1); the third was created using a multiple sample procedure (Clone6). WinISI software (Infrasoft International Inc., Port Mathilda, PA, USA) was used to perform both types of standardization, Clone1 is just a photometric offset between a “master” instrument and the “slave” instrument. Clone6 modifies both the X-axis through a wavelength adjustment and the Y-axis through a simple regression wavelength by wavelength. The Clone1 procedure used one sample spectrally close to the centre of the population. The six samples used in Clone 6 were selected to cover the range of spectral variation in the sample set. The remaining fifteen samples were used to evaluate the performances of the different models. The predicted values for dry matter, protein and neutral detergent fibre from the master Instrument were considered as “reference Y values” when computing the statistics RMSEP, SEPC, R, Bias, Slope, mean GH (global Mahalanobis distance) and mean NH (neighbourhood Mahalanobis distance) for the 6 slave instruments. From the results we conclude that i) all the calibration techniques gave satisfactory results after standardization. Without standardization the predicted data from the slaves would have required slope and bias correction to produce acceptable statistics. ii) Standardization reduced the errors for all calibration methods and parameters tested, reducing not only systematic biases but also random errors. iii) Standardization removed slope effects that were significantly different from 1.0 in most of the cases. iv) Clone1 and Clone6 gave similar results except for NDF where Clone6 gave better RMSEP values than Clone1. v) GH and NH were reduced by half even with very large data sets including unstandardized spectra.
In order to investigate the shear characteristics of earth structure after construction. Four sample soils with different gradation were selected and compacted under the optimum moisture content and the maximum dry density. And the direct shear test and the triaxial compression test were performed with those sample soils under various pre-compression loads. The results were summarized as follows; 1. With the increase of the percent passing of No. 200 sieve, the cohesion of soil increased regularly and the internal friction angle of soil decreased with slow ratio. 2. The pre-compression increased the shear strength of compacted cohesive soil. The increase of cohesion was very apparent but the internal friction angle didn't show such regular tendency. 3. With the increase of pre-compression load, the slope of stress-strain curve showed steep at the early stage of horizontal strain. The vertical strain was small at the compression stage and big at the expansion stage. 4. When the vertical stress of shear test with increase in the horizontal strain was small, stress ratio(shear stress vs. vertical stress) of sample showed the largest value and the slope of stress ratio curve showed also steep. 5. When the sample was had the same condition, the cohesion of soil showed bigger value in the triaxial compression test and the internal friction angle of soil showed bigger value in the direct shear test.
