A new device to detect methamphetamine (MA), amphetamine(A) and its metabolites in urine was developed using the paper strip method and the test tube method of dry chemical reagents. The reagent containing tetrabromophenolphthalein ethyl ester (TBPE) and borax. For the TBPE paper strip method, a device was prepared with a window at each end of the reagent paper strip ; one window is for the sample application, and the other window is for the methylene chloride. The diffused sample from one window reacts with reagent in the paper and produces color at the point where it meets with methylene chloride which has diffused form the other side. A positive smaple produces as red-purple color and the negative sample a greenish color, with a detection limit of 5-10 ppm. The result can be obtained within one minute. For the TBPE test tube method which contains dry reagents, the detection limit is 5 ppm and the result can be obtaineed within 30 seconds, however the carry-on is not as convenient as the paper strip method. The performance of both methods were evlauated by comparing with the results of gas chromatography (GC) and fluorescence polarizaiton immunoassay (FPIA). The results were proven that both methods were useful as primary screening reagents to detect MA in urine and in dry powder.

The purposes of using cutting fluid during cutting have been cooling, lubricating, chip washing, and anti-corroding. However, the present manufacturing industry restricts the use of cutting fluid because cutting fluid contains poisonous substances which are harmful to the human body. Therefore dry cutting becomes an unavoidable assignment and a lot of researches have studied cutting methods without using cutting fluid. Because dry turning is a continuous work, tools life is reduced by continuous heat generation and surface gets rough due to reduced lubrication, so it is important to consider these situations. In this paper, the way of selecting the optimal machining condition by the minimum number of experiments and the effectiveness of using compressed air in high hardness materials through Taguchi method have been found. Dry cutting using compressed air showed better cutting characteristics than normal dry cutting with respect to by cutting force, tool wear, and surface roughness. Also, the optimal machining condition f3r dry cutting using compressed air could be selected through Taguchi method.

The serious problem facing two-dimensional finite element hydraulic model is the treatment of wet and dry areas. This situation is encountered in most practical river and coastal engineering problems, such as flood propagation, dam break analysis and so on. Especially, dry areas result in mathematical complications and require special treatment. The objective of this study is to investigate the wet and dry parameters that have direct relevance to model performance in situations where inundation of initially dry areas occurs. Several numerical simulations were carried out, which examined the performance of the marsh porosity method of RMA-2 model to investigate for application of parameters. Experimental channel with partly dry side slopes, straight channel with irregular geometry and Han river were performed for tests. As a result of this study, effectively applied marsh porosity method provide a reliable results for flow distribution of wet and dry area, it could be further developed to basis for extending to water quality and sediment transport analysis.

Recently, it is increased on the concern for the reuse of waste concrete because of the shortage of natural aggregate and the increase of waste concrete. And recycled coarse aggregate is used variously, but the existing wet method producted recycled fine aggregate has problems like the high price facilities, the long time progress of the work and recycled fine aggregate of poor. The aim of this study is to investigate the possibility of the method of dry producted high qualities recycled fine aggregate. The results of this study have shown that the possibility of the method of dry is certificated as the qualities of recycled fine aggregate satisfied the KS and the compressive strength of mortar was similar to plain.

The performance and design analysis for a NWD cooling tower using a combined wet and dry type fill are numerically investigated and compared with the experimental results. The Stoecker's method is applied to the wet section and LMTD or NTU-Effectiveness method to the wet and dry sections. The efficiency ratio of the NWD cooling tower to a wet type crossflow cooling tower is 59.34%. The predicted result shows a good agreement with the experimental data within 1.4% error. Plume abatement is far better with a NWD cooling tower than a counterflow cooling tower. It costs less than a conventional wet/dry tower because the finned exchanger is eliminated. This method also leaves out complexity in structure and Intricacy in operation.

This study treats the numerical analysis of performance and design for plume abatement wet/dry cooling tower with a dry type heat exchanger. A two-dimensional analysis is performed using the finite volume method for mechanical draft counterflow and crossflow tower. For a coupling problem between water and air system, a turbulent two phase flow is considered. The Effectiveness-NTU method is used for modeling of the dry type heat exchanger. The parametric simulations such as the relative flowrate of air and attachment length of an air mixer are performed to examine the effect on plume abatement. It is found that if the relative air flowrate ratio and the adequate air mixer type are chosen well in addition to the ratio of water to air flowrate, the loss of cooling capacity and the additional cost are reduced and the plume is abated.
Dry and wet test methods established by Korean industrial standards to estimate opening size of 3 types of geotextile which are widely used for filter of plastic drain board in Korea are performed to evaluate characteristics of the test methods and to compare the test results. Judging from test results, dry method is a relatively poor test, having lots of problems causing many errors but a simple-quick test. Wet method is a very specific test avoiding many of the problems of dry method such as electrostatic charges, trapping in the geotextiles and so on. However, one of wet test methods, KS K ISO 12956, takes long time to complete a test and is too strict to handle loss of granular material. Generally, opening size of a geotextile by wet test method is smaller than that of dry test method. Especially, opening size by KS F 2126 which is called hydrodynamic method but at present is not used anymore is similar to or smaller than that by KS K ISO 12956 method.

For the fast dry of the aqueous tape, the process which water was replaced by organic solvent was proposed. So-called, it was the solvent washing dry, Three organic solvents (methanol, ethanol, and acetone) were selected for the washing solvent. The weight loss of the washed tapes was measured to evaluate the dry rate of the tapes and dried tapes were examined the generation of the cracks with the variations of the organic solvent and the washing time. Methanol, ethanol, and acetone were all available organic solvents for this method. The tapes washed in methanol, ethanol, and acetone were dried rapidly for twenty minutes. After thirty minutes, the weight losses were not any more. The solvent of the lower surface tension can decreases the crack of dried tape. If solvent substitutes water completely, though it was fast dried, crack can be eliminated. The tape casting system was designed for the solvent washing dry and prepared. An homogeneous tape was established by continuous tape casting process.
This experiment was carried out to determine the drying time from green to oven dry and estimate the moisture content of wood, such as red lauan (Shorea Spp.), Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii), Birch (Betula platyphylla), and oak (Quercus aliena), at various thickness, paralleled to fiber, of specimen for M.C. by oven dry method (100-105$^{\circ}C$). The results obtained are summarized as follows: 1. The drying time from green to oven dry decreases as the thickness of specimen for M.C. becomes to be thined, and that time at 10mm thickness are 14 hrs, for birch wood and 24 hrs, for oak wood. 2. The relative formulae between thickness (X) of specimen for M.C. and drying lime (Y) from 12% to oven dry are showed in Fig. 3. 3. The M.C. based on the weight of specimen for M.C. at t% can be obtained from the formula (2), and the drying time to 1% are shorter than that time to oven dry by approximately three times.
