The serious problem facing two-dimensional finite element hydraulic model is the treatment of wet and dry areas. This situation is encountered in most practical river and coastal engineering problems, such as flood propagation, dam break analysis and so on. Especially, dry areas result in mathematical complications and require special treatment. The objective of this study is to investigate the wet and dry parameters that have direct relevance to model performance in situations where inundation of initially dry areas occurs. Several numerical simulations were carried out, which examined the performance of the marsh porosity method of RMA-2 model to investigate for application of parameters. Experimental channel with partly dry side slopes, straight channel with irregular geometry and Han river were performed for tests. As a result of this study, effectively applied marsh porosity method provide a reliable results for flow distribution of wet and dry area, it could be further developed to basis for extending to water quality and sediment transport analysis.
This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of mixed application of earthworm cast and N-fertilizer on dry matter(DM) yield in orchardgrass(Dactylis glomerate L.). Experimental plot were designed by a randomized block design with 3 replications of six different treatments-Control(0:0), 100% earthworm cast(0:100), 3 levels of mixed application(25:75:, 50:50, 75:25) of earthworm cast and N-fertilizer, and 100% N-fertilizer(100:0)based on content (%) of nitrogen. The experiment was carried out from March to October, 1993, on the forage experimental field of Kon-Kuk Univ. in Seoul. The results obtained are summarized as follows: 1. Annual dry matter yield was significantly increased according to increasing of N-fertilizer 2. Dry matter yield for each treatment as cutting time was passing was decreased. However, dry matter yield was slightly increased at 75%, 50%, and 25% mixed application of earthworm cast at the third cutting time than the second cutting time(p<0.05). 3. concerning each treatment per cutting time, dry matter yield was higher at 100% N fertilizer than the other treatments at the first, second, and fourth cutting time except the third cutting time only(p<0.05). And according to decreasing of mixing ratio of N fertilizer, dry matter yield was decreased, too. 4. Dry matter yield of 100% earthworm cast was significantly higher than control at the fourth cutting time(p<0.05).
This study was carried out to clear up the cause of low-acid producing phenomenon occurred In non-fat dry milk during liquid-yoghurt fermentation by Lactobacillus case, and to present its improving methods. All samples of non-fat dry milks which were low in TCA-soluble peptides showed low-acid production, but those high in TCA-soluble peptides showed high-acid production. The addition of trypsin-hydrolysate of Na-caseinate to non-fat dry milk showed some improving effect on acid production but that of papain-hydrolysate did not show any improving effect and that of bacterical neutral protease-hydrolysate showed some inhibitory effect. The improving effects on growth and acid production of lactic acid bacteria were more prominent when the trypsin-hydrolysate of Na-caseinate was added. to such fermenting system in which the levels of TCA-soluble peptides and the proteolytic ability of starter bacteria were abnormally low. The liquid-yoghurt made with non-hydrolysed Na-caseinate and defective non-fat dry milk showed precipitate occurrence but that with trypsin-hydrolysate of Na-caseinate and defective non-fat dry milk did not make any precipitate during storage as with normal non-fat dry milk.
This paper presents a design of 1-channel active dry electrode module for EEG from one's forehead. The IA(instrumentation amplifier) circuit inside the module is based on the configuration sown on the paper MettingVanRijn et al. We analyze the IA circuit to find out the related equation, and then compare its simulated characteristic with the result obtained from the real active dry electrode circuit. With the active dry electrode and the wet(Ag/AgCI) electrode connected to the separated analog processing module on one's forehead at the same time, their real time and FFT outputs of EEG are examined for comparison. The active dry electrode module has advantages over the wet electrode and its analog processing module: 1) The size of the analog processing circuit of the active dry electrode module is smaller than that of existing EEG analog processing module; 2) the total cost required to make the proposed analog processing circuit is much lower than that of the existing circuit, since the designed circuit needs smaller parts; 3) the electrical characteristic is comparable to the general EEG analog processing module even if the designed module has simpler circuit configuration.

This study was carried out to evaluate the potential nutritive value of commonly found grasses collected at native pasture in West Sumatra, Indonesia during dry and rainy seasons. Variables measured included chemical composition, in vitro digestibility, concentration of Ca, P and Mg, gas production and metabolizable energy (ME) content of the grasses. The results showed that species and season had significant effect on chemical composition and mineral concentration. Crude protein content in the dry season ranged from 6.5% (B. decumbens) to 14.4% (P. maximum) and increased slightly from 7.8% (B. decumbens) to 14. 8% (A. compressus) in the rainy season. Data on fiber fraction showed that grass contained more NDF, ADF and ADL in dry season than in rainy season. Data on mineral concentration showed that C. plectostachyus and P. maximum in dry season had higher Ca than those of other species, while in rainy season P. maximum had highest Ca concentration. In dry season, the DMD varied from 50. 4% (P.purpuphoides) to 59.1% (P. purpureum), while in rainy season ranged from 50.3% (A. gayanus) to 61.8% (P. purpureum). The potential and rate of gas production were significantly (p<0.05) affected by species and season. During dry season, potential of gas production ranged from 21.8 ml/200 mg (A. compressus) to 45.1 ml/200 mg (C. plectostachyus), while in rainy season it varied from 35.6 ml/200 mg (A. gayanus) to 47.5 ml/200 mg (P. purpureum). ME content of grasses varied from 6.0 to 8.3 MJ/kg in dry season and increased slightly from 6.4 to 8.6 MJ/kg in rainy season. Both in dry and rainy seasons, the highest ME content was occurred in P. purpureum and C. plectostachyus. In conclusion, nutritive value of the observed grasses in West Sumatra, Indonesia was relatively higher during rainy season compared with dry season. Pennisetum purpureum and Cynodon plectostachyus had the best nutritive value in both dry and rainy seasons.

Semi-dry anaerobic digestion experiment using dairy cattle manure collected from dairy cattle house was conducted to analyze efficiency of biogas production. As a first experiment, Biochemical Methane Potential (BMP) test was carried out according to certain ratio of sample mixtures: dairy cattle manure, pig slurry, and mixture of dairy cattle manure and pig slurry. The amount of methane accumulated during BMP test period was high in the experimental groups containing dairy cattle manure. As a second experiment, semi-dry anaerobic digestion experiment was carried out using only the dairy cattle manure collected from floor of the dairy cattle house. Judging from the experimental results, the optimum hydraulic retention time (HRT) of semi-dry anaerobic digestion for dairy cattle manure containing 13% of TS was 25 days. The amount biogas generated from the semi-dry anaerobic digestor with the TS of 13% of the dairy cattle manure ranged from 1.36~1.50v/v-d and the average was 1.44v/v-d. The optimum HRT of the semi-dry anaerobic digestor for dairy cattle manure containing TS of 15% and the semi-dry anaerobic digestor for dairy cattle manure containing TS of 17% was the same as 30 days. The amount biogas generated from the semi-dry anaerobic digestor with the TS of 15% of the dairy cattle manure ranged from 1.42~1.52v/v-d and the average was 1.47v/v-d. The amount biogas generated from the semi-dry anaerobic digestor with the TS of 17% of the dairy cattle manure ranged from 1.50~1.61v/v-d and the average was 1.55v/v-d.

This experiment was carried out to select for the varieties with high environmental adaptability in mountainous pastures of Taekwalyong area, and the evaluation was based on the data of varietal differences of dry matter production and yield components in Tall fescue cutting at various developmental stages in growth period of autumn. The results were summarized as follows; 1. The varieties with high number of tillers per plant(NT) showed a high dry weight of plant(DW) in all autumn cuttings. These varieties(Barce1 and Fuego) may be more adaptable to mountainous pastures of Taekwalyon area than other varieties. 2. The number of tillers per plant(NT) was significantly positive correlated with dry weight of plant (DW), but dry weight of tiller(WT) was not significantly correlated with dry weight of plant(DW) in all autumn cuttings. 3. The multiple regression equations of autumn cutting stages with mean dry weight of plant(DW) and number of tillers per plant(NT) can be used to estimate the cutting time to obtain maximum mean dry weight of plant(DW) and the highest number of tillers per plant(NT). The maximum mean dry weight of plant(DW) and the highest number of tillers per plant(NT) was estimated at the time of 21 Oct. and 26 Oct, respectively. 4. Dead leaves tended to increase greatly after the 2nd cutting(l4 Oct.) in growth period of autumn. 5. The number of tillers per plant(NT) was an important yield component before tiller density achieved equilibrium, but dry weight of tiller(WT, including dead leaves) was of most significant as a yield determinant after maximum tiller density reached in growth period of autumn.

This experiment was canied out to study the effect of cutting frequencies (3, 4 and 5 cuts per year) and mineral nitrogen fertilization on dry matter yields, in order to estimate optimum level of fertilizing mineral nitrogen in orchardgrass(Dacry1is glomerafa L.). The results are as follows: 1. Dry matter yields were the highest in the 1st cut at 3 cutting frequency and in the 2nd cut at 4 and 5 cutting frequencies, and they shared 49.7, 37.0 and 37.0% of annual dry matter yield respectively. 2. When only phosphorus and potassium were applied, annual dry matter yields were between 9.4 and 11.5 tons per ha and the highest yield was observed at 3 cutting frequency. 3. Dry matter yield in relation to fertilization of mineral nitrogen was highly increased when more nitrogen was applied as 360 kg per ha compared to 240 kg per ha at 3 cutting frequency. At 4 and 5 cutting frequencies, increases in dry matter yield, to large extent, were showed at 120 and 150 kg of nitrogen per ha(30 kg Nlcutlha) compared to no application of nitrogen. The efficiencies of mineral nitrogen fertilization (kg DM/kg N) were 28.0, 22.7 and 20.6 kg dry matter yields per nitrogen(kg) respectively). 4. At 4 and 5 cutting frequencies, dry matter yields were reduced when 360 kg and 300 kg of mineral nitrogen per ha(90 kg and 60 kg Nlcutlha) were applied respectively. 5. Particularly at 4 and 5 cutting frequencies of this study, maximum marginal yields reached at 129.9 kg and 148.0 kg of fertilizing mineral nitrogen per ha, and economical borden of mineral nitrogen fertilization were between 222.4 and 250.0 kg and between 244.8 and 276.8 kg respectively. At the same cutting frequencies, the highest dry matter yields were obtained at 365.4 and 433.8 kg of fertilizing mineral nitrogen respectively.
