  • Purpose: This research aims to analyze the service process of corporate courier services in order to offer service providers possible directions for adaptation of new technologies and assurance of better quality services. Methods: Through the analysis on the parcel service process of company Y by applying service blueprinting method, the overall process and failure service points of corporate courier services can be recognized and investigated. Next, the several newer technologies, augmented reality glasses, exoskeleton, and drone are applied to the service process of company Y as they are suggested by the literature review and referenced to DHL's report on the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Then, service options to overcome the service failure points to improve the service process can be produced. Results: The parcel service process of the company Y is utilized as a hub-and-spoke structure by having distribution and delivery centers which separates customers into two types, ones using the total services and the others only using the delivery service. In addition, the main cause of the service failures is determined that it is due to the limited working hours of delivery centers compared to the workload. Conclusion: This research contributes in better understanding of corporate courier services and providing information for benchmarking. An empirical research on the costs and the efficiencies of applying the new technologies is suggested for the further improvement in the processes of corporate courier services.

  • The application of the unmanned vehicles in various fields has been attracting attention, and the development of a service utilizing unmanned vehicles has been proceeding. As the service market using the unmanned vehicles rapidly increases, the demand for the development of software for performing the mission with unmanned vehicles is increasing. In particular, as the demand for unmanned vehicle utilization services for public missions such as fire detection, mail delivery, and facility management increases, the importance of developing mission software for unmanned vehicle is increasing. To develop common mission software, architecture design should be made so that unmanned vehicle service provider can easily develop software using reusable libraries or functions through analysis commonly required by various public institutions. In this paper, we discuss the research trends of mission software for public mission unmanned vehicles. In addition, the architecture design of developing formal mission software is proposed. Finally, we propose a data transfer architecture between mission software and data platform.

  • This study examines the overall contents of robots, drones, and autonomous driving that can be applied to libraries among autonomous objects, and proposes a plan that can be introduced and applied to libraries in the future based on this. As a result of the study, in the case of the building, robots and drones can be used to apply from collection inspection, collection transport, collection arrangement, collection classification, book location guidance, book recommendation, loan/return, library general guidance, and reference information service. Outside of the building, robots, drones, and autonomous vehicles can be used for book delivery service, book return service, and unmanned mobile libraries. This study is a basic research for the introduction and application of autonomous objects in the library, and follow-up studies such as perception survey and application model development for systematic introduction should be conducted in the future.

  • TCP is a well-known communication protocol which is widely used for reliable message transmissions. The urgent mechanism of TCP plays a key role to transmit messages with a high priority. If a high priority message occurs at the transmitting node, the urgent mechanism informs the receiving node about the presence of a high priority message prior to its transmission so that the receiving node can be prepared for handling this message in advance. This implies that the existing urgent mechanism of TCP does not guarantee an immediate or faster delivery of the high priority message itself. Therefore, the ability of priority-based transmission is required on TCP not only to ensure reliable transmissions of normal messages but also to offer a differentiated service according to the priority of message. This paper presents a priority-based transmission algorithm over TCP using a priority queue in a multi-threaded environment. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is explored using an experimental setup in which various messages with different priority levels are transmitted.
