  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the Effective X-Factor in golf swing. The term X-Factor means the relative rotation of shoulders with respect to hips during the golf swing. To ascertain the Effective X-Factor that resulted in a high club head speed at impact six golfers' swing motions were videotaped and analyzed using three-dimensional techniques. The results can be summarized as follows. The standard deviations of the professionals' average club head speeds were higher than the amateurs'. This means that the professionals' swing skills were better than amateurs' in driving accuracy and consistency. As the club head speeds were increased gradually the X-Factors and the club head speeds had reached to the subjects' average club head speeds, but the X-Factors and the club head speeds were not increased above the subjects' average club head speeds. The X-Factor Stretch early in the down swing was existed and Professional stretched values were higher than the amateurs. In conclusion my research results suggested that the increase in Effective X-Factors had no relationship to the increase in club head speeds.

  • This paper presents an analysis of the Developmental Approaches in Science, Health and Technology (DASH) program, a K-6 curriculum developed by the Curriculum Research & Development Group (CRDG) at the University of Hawaii employing the curriculum analysis framework created by Posner. Using this framework the analyst found that the DASH design is based on the research on learning, teaching, and assessment now driving efforts to reform science education at the elementary level. DASH embraces the constructivist idea that learning is a personal and social process and the recapitulation model that new concepts are built out of theories previously learned. DASH provides an understandable, exciting, and memorable experience in the operations of science, health, and technology, and develops their capacity to use the skills and knowledge of science, health, and technology both in and outside school. A number of studies of DASH have examined its functionality, effectiveness of pedagogy and what students learn. The innovative nature of DASH necessitated a multidimensional assessment that included both quantitative and qualitative research techniques. Ongoing development of the DASH program in the research setting of a university laboratory school permits ever deeper connections with emerging curriculum theory and curriculum practice, and allows new linkages as ideas are tested in research classrooms.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate drivers' postures in different car pedal systems and skilled levels under fatigue. Twenty four subjects participated in this experiment. For three-dimensional analyses, six cameras (Proreflex MCU-240, Qualisys) were used to acquire raw data. The parameters were calculated and analyzed with Visual-3D. In conclusion, ROAs of two leg-pedal system were less than one leg pedal system by pattern analysis. Through statistical tests, skilled levels have effects on ROAs(X, Y, Z) of ankle joint at breaking a pedal and ROAs(Y, Z) of ankle joint at accelerating a pedal. Also, car pedal systems have effects on ROAs(Y, Z) of ankle joint, and ROA(Z) of knee joint at accelerating a pedal. In addition, skilled levels and car pedal systems (cross effects) have an effect on ROA(Z) of ankle joint. These findings suggested that we should improve a present single pedal system.
