  • To improve the performance of clutch actuator of clutch-by-wire system for commercial vehicles, it is necessary to understand the driving characteristics of the system. To explain and predict the effects of driving characteristics on clutch characteristics, AMESim software is used. The simulation model of clutch-by-wire system is developed in the AMESim environments under the geometrical dimensions and driving mechanisms of the clutch-by-wire system, such as the rotation speed of the DC motor, the gear ratio of the reducer, the design parameters of the release fork, the coefficient of the clutch diaphragm spring, and so on. The results show that the theoretical analysis of the clutch-by-wire system for commercial vehicles using the AMESim software find out the driving characteristics of the clutch actuator, and predict the performance characteristics of the clutch-by-wire system.

  • In the present paper, a new type of electrical actuator, an electromagnetic force driving actuator (EMFA), applicable to air circuit breaker is developed and analyzed. Transient analysis is performed to obtain the dynamic characteristics of EMFA. The distribution of static magnetic flux is obtained using the finite element method. The coupled problems of electrics and mechanics governing equations are solved using the time-difference method. According to the interception rate of each contactor, investigation of the contactor spring load condition is conducted and applied to the threelink system. Comparisons of the dynamic characteristics of the three-link simulation and experimental data are performed.

  • This study proposes an innovative design guideline to assist the evaluation and improvement of the dynamic comfort of vehicle seating. The existing evaluation method for the comfort of vehicle seating was investigated to broach problems in evaluation. It was found that the currently existing evaluation method employs the resonance frequency of the vibration system composed of the seat and the human body and the maximum vibration transmissibility. This study proposes a design guideline aimed at the enhancement of vibration transmission characteristics above the resonance range, particularly within the range of 10-18 Hz. In order to meet this guideline, a seat was constructed out of foam having a low damping coefficient. It was then installed in a vehicle for a driving test. The driving test confirmed the improvement of the dynamic comfort of the seat. The result of evaluation of the improved seat using the SEAT index, an industry standard widely used to evaluate the dynamic comfort of a seat considering the perceptivity characteristics of the human body, showed that the perceptive vibration transmission had reduced by more than $11\%$. The effect of the modification of seat foam was also verified through a subjective assessment of dynamic comfort of the seats.

  • A driver-vehicle model means the integrated dynamic model that is able to estimate the steering wheel angle from the driver's desired path based on the dynamic characteristics of the driver and vehicle. Autonomous driving robot for factory automation has individual four-wheels which are driven by electronic motors. In this paper, the dynamic characteristics of several four-wheel steering systems with the simultaneously steerable front and rear wheels are investigated and compared by means of the driver-vehicle model. A diver-vehicle model is proposed by using the PID control to velocity and trajectory of control autonomous driving robot. To determine the optimum speed of a autonomous driving robot, steady-state circle simulation is carried out with the ADAMS program and MATLAB control model.

  • This paper presents a new method for construction of a static obstacle map. A static obstacle is important since it is utilized to path planning and decision. Several established approaches generate static obstacle map by grid method and counting algorithm. However, these approaches are occasionally ineffective since the density of LiDAR layer is low. Our approach solved this problem by applying probability theory. First, we converted all LiDAR point to Gaussian distribution to considers an uncertainty of LiDAR point. This Gaussian distribution represents likelihood of obstacle. Second, we modeled dynamic transition of a static obstacle map by adopting the Hidden Markov Model. Due to the dynamic characteristics of the vehicle in relation to the conditions of the next stage only, a more accurate map of the obstacles can be obtained using the Hidden Markov Model. Experimental data obtained from test driving demonstrates that our approach is suitable for mapping static obstacles. In addition, this result shows that our algorithm has an advantage in estimating not only static obstacles but also dynamic characteristics of moving target such as driving vehicles.

  • The bi-modal tram guided by the magnetic guidance system has two car-bodies and three axles. Each axle of the vehicle has an independent suspension to lower the floor of the car and improve ride quality. The turning radius of the vehicle may increase as a consequence of the long wheel base. Therefore, the vehicle is equipped with the All-Wheel-Steering(AWS) system for safe driving on a curved road. Front and rear axles should be steered in opposite directions, which means a negative mode, to minimize the turning radius. On the other hand, they also should be steered in the same direction, which means a positive mode, for the stopping mode. Moreover, only the front axle is steered for stability of the vehicle upon high-speed driving. In summary, steering angles and directions of the each axle should be changed according to the driving environment and steering mode. This paper proposes an appropriate AWS control algorithm for stable driving of the bi-modal tram. Furthermore, a multi-body model of the vehicle is simulated to verify the suitability of the algorithm. This model can also analyze the different dynamic characteristics between 2WS and AWS.

  • Pile driving technique has been regarded as the most reliable way of constructing deep foundations. Engineers have long believed that the quality of the installed piles is a simple function of the set values which can easily be obtained from the field pile driving records. Consequently most of the local building codes are based on the dynamic formula. However it has been proven that the quality of the driven pile is influenced not only by the set values but also by various factors, such as hammer performance, helmet characteristics, time dependent geotechnical characteristics of the site, etc., from the results of various researches made during the last two decades. In this paper an appropriate quality control scheme has been proposed by taking various influencing factors into consideration.

  • The history of excavator design is not long enough which still causes most of the design considerations to be focused on static analysis or simple functional improvement based on static analysis. However, the real forces experiencing on each component of excavator are highly transient and impulsive. Therefore, the prediction and the evaluation of the movement of the excavator by dynamic load in the early design stage through the dynamic transient analysis of the excavator and ensuring of design technique plays an importance role to reduce development-cost, shorten product-deliver, decrease vehicle-weight and optimize the system design. In this paper, Commercial software DADS and ANSYS help to develop the track model of the crawler type excavator, and to evaluate the performance and the dynamic characteristics of excavator with various simulations. For that reason, the track of crawler type excavator is modelled with DADS Track Vehicle Superelement, and the reaction forces on the track rollers were predicted through the driving simulation. Also, the upper frame and cabin vibration characteristics, at the low RPM idle state, were evaluated with engine rigid body modelling. And flexibility body effects were considered to determine the more accurate joint reaction forces and accelerations under the upper frame swing motion.

  • The fluctuation of the engine torque appears to be the major source of the torsional vibration of the automotive driveline. The reduction of this torsional vibration has become a significant problem, due to an increase in the fluctuation of the torque of recent light weighted and high powered engines, along with the requirements of higher performance. The torsional vibration of the automotive driveline can be reduced by smoothing the fluctuation by adjusting the torsional characteristics of the clutch-disc. This paper presents an experimental and theoretical research on the clutch-disc torsional characteristics for the reduction of the torsional vibration at driving. The effects of clutch-damper on diminishing the torsional vibration were investigated experimentally. A dynamic model for the automotive driveline was developed, and the engine torque of the model were evaluated with experimental data. By executing a simulation using the model, it has become possible to obtain the clutch-disc torsional characteristics and the clutch-disc torsional characteristics for reducing the torsional vibration has been suggested. The results are as follows: (1) By exceuting simulations using nonlinear model of four degrees of freedom, a design technique to determine the clutch-disc torsional characteristics for reducing the torsional vibration at driving was developed. (2) The influence of barious torsional characteristics of the clutch has been studied in examining design parameters, which indicates that the domain to minimize the torsional vibration at driving depends on the characteristics of the clutch-damper, i. e., spring constant and hysteresis.
