Design of Assistive Wearable System for Walking (보행 보조 웨어러블 시스템 설계)

  • With the recent acceleration of industrial technologies and active research, wearable robot technologies have been applied to various fields. To study the utility of wearable robots, basic research on kinetic mechanisms of the human body, bio-signal analysis, and system control are essential. In this study, we investigated the basic structure of a wearable system and the operating principles of a driving mechanism. The control system and supporting structure, which comprise the driving mechanism, were designed and manufactured. Motion and load analyses were performed simultaneously for the design of the kinematic drive, and the driving mechanism was constructed by analyzing walking motion. The operating conditions of the cylinder were verified by stride via driving experiments. Further, the accuracy and responsiveness of the system were confirmed by comparison with actual motion, and the system safety was validated by applying loads.

  • In this work, we have developed a 2 degree of freedom(DOF) motion simulator that can generate the sensation of motion in a 6 DOF space. The motion base has the DOF of roll and pitch, and the purpose of the motion base is to create the sensation of riding a vehicle in a 3D space by controlling the motion base. The dynamics of the mechanism was analysed and the optimal design of the motion base mechanism has been reached. The prototype motion base mechanism was developed and tested. The multi-axis motion controller(MMC) was used to control the two ac servo motors that drive the roll and pitch motion.

Optimal design of the suspension stiffness in HDD for improving the load/unload performance (램프 로드-언로드 특성 향상을 위한 서스펜션강성 최적설계)

  • In order to get the drive reliability and low Power-consumption characteristics, most of small form factor HDD has und the load/unload mechanism instead of CSS type. Compared with CSS mechanism, the load/unload system has little opportunity of head/media contact during the disk spin-up and down. However, the load/unload mechanism needs the precise integration technology with slider, suspension, ramp and load/unload velocity, and all of these component s should be designed simultaneously, not an individually. In this paper, we focus the design of the suspension stiffness using the specified ABS design. We use the CML software to calculate the load/unload dynamic and use the RSM(Response surface method) to get the optimal condition of the suspension stiffness.

  • IMS is a more advanced manufacturing system than FMS. However, IMS do not have sufficient performance for the work in the various and uncertain environment, because of the difficulty of the work and occurrence of the unexpected condition. If IMS is hard to work properly, teleoperation system can support it by using the human's consideration and judgment. The master mechanism is a basic component of the teleoperation system and the development of the useful one is important for efficiency of the work. A master mechanism of exoskeleton type can increase the work efficiency, mobility and harmony between a working robot and an operator. This paper describes an arm-harness of exoskeleton type, which is able to drive a robot according to judgment. This device is applied to a robot system for evaluating the system performance through the experiment.

  • Design and experimental results of yaw rate controller is described for electricallydriven four wheel vehicle without steering mechanism. Yaw rate controller has been known to be necessary to cope with nonlinear char-acteristics of the wheel/road conditions with respect to different road condition and steering angle. For an effective yaw rate control, a fuzzy PID gain scheduler is considered with changing control parameters. In order to apply proposed algorithm to the system a downsized four wheel drive electrically driven vehicle without steering mechanism was manufactured. With these techniques the proposed yaw rate controller is shown by experiment results to be obtained suficient performance in the whole steering regions.

  • In this paper, the design of automatic impact force control mechanism of hydraulic breaker was studied. The control mechanism uses the change of piston upper chamber pressure, when the hydraulic breaker impacts various strength rock. The piston stroke is controlled by rock strength sensing valve, piston stroke switching valve, and piston control valve. It is imperative to denote the area of each valve section, the spring constant of the spring. It provides convenience to users by automatically adjusting the appropriate striking force, according to the strength of the rock. Additionally, by increasing work productivity, it can contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions due to fuel efficiency reduction.

  • Ball reducer (HERB Drive: High Efficient Wave Rolling Ball Drive) with waved grooves has many advantages over other types of reducers for high-reduction ratio, low noise and low energy loss, etc. The mechanism of force transmission is very similar to that of cam and follower in automobile valve train system especially in contact behaviors. In this study, we have investigated the traces of contact between ball and outer ring, and the dynamic contact behaviors of elastohydodynamic lubrication(EHL) with a certain reduction ratio. In order to verify the contact behaviors between ball and outer ring for the critical endurance lift, the contact velocity and load are computed for a cycle. During some intervals of a cycle, the contact velocity reverses its direction very suddenly. It is expected that changing the contact direction causes undesirable endurance performance because EHL film frequently col lapse at the moment of velocity reversal. From the computational investigation in this work, we hope to predict similar contact damages in other machinery due to this kind of contact behaviors, which is very typical in many contact phenomena.

Fault Detection and Diagnosis System for a Three-Phase Inverter Using a DWT-Based Artificial Neural Network

  • Inverters are considered the basic building blocks of industrial electrical drive systems that are widely used for various applications; however, the failure of electronic switches mainly affects the constancy of these inverters. For safe and reliable operation of an electrical drive system, faults in power electronic switches must be detected by an efficient system that is capable of identifying the type of faults. In this paper, an open switch fault identification technique for a three-phase inverter is presented. Single, double, and triple switching faults can be diagnosed using this method. The detection mechanism is based on stator current analysis. Discrete wavelet transform (DWT) using Daubechies is performed on the Clarke transformed (-) stator current and features are extracted from the wavelets. An artificial neural network is then used for the detection and identification of faults. To prove the feasibility of this method, a Simulink model of the DWT-based feature extraction scheme using a neural network for the proposed fault detection system in a three-phase inverter with an induction motor is briefly discussed with simulation results. The simulation results show that the designed system can detect faults quite efficiently, with the ability to differentiate between single and multiple switching faults.

  • The paper is proposed maximum torque control of SynRM drive using adaptive learning mechanism-fuzzy neural network(ALM-FNN) controller and artificial neural network(ANN). The control method is applicable over the entire speed range and considered the limits of the inverter's current and voltage rated value. For each control mode, a condition that determines the optimal d-axis current $i_d$ for maximum torque operation is derived. The proposed control algorithm is applied to SynRM drive system controlled ALM-FNN and ANN controller, the operating characteristics controlled by maximum torque control are examined in detail. Also, this paper is proposed the analysis results to verify the effectiveness of the ALM-FNN and ANN controller.

  • This paper investigates the adaptive control of a fuzzy logic based speed and flux controller for a vector controlled induction motor drive. A model reference adaptive scheme is proposed in which the adaptation mechanism is executed by fuzzy logic based on the error and change of error measured between the motor speed and output of a reference model. The control performance of the adaptive fuzzy controller is evaluated by simulation for various operating conditions. The validity of the proposed adaptive fuzzy controller is confirmed by performance results for induction motor drive system
