An Exploration of the Direction of Development of the Integrated Curriculum for Gifted: The Applicability of the Drake Model (영재를 위한 통합교육과정 개발의 방향: Drake 모형의 적용 가능성 탐색)

  • This study aimed to explore the direction and possibility of development of the integrated curriculum for the Gifted students in the discipline-centered curriculum perspective. To this end, the study analysed the Ontario interdisciplinary curriculum based on a Drake's Integration Model which is typical model of the discipline-centered curriculum and explored the applicability to Science Gifted Academy in Korea. Through showing the possibility of enrichment on the selected majors, integration with other disciplines and solving the future problems by the integrated curriculum centered on 'Big Idea', the Ontario interdisciplinary curriculum gave suggestions of curriculum integration within or through individual research and integrated curriculum for the Gifted. The application of the Ontario's "Introduction to Information studies" to "Information Science" in Science Gifted Academy in Korea could be obtained the conclusion that the Drake's Integration model is applied to the Gifted by the individualization of the navigation network, KDB(Knowledge-Do-Be) umbrella, and the final interdisciplinary task. From this result, we could suggest that the development of integrated curriculum for the Gifted should be considered the clarity of learning objectives for the Gifted, the plan of evaluation to demonstrate big understanding and big idea, the integration with other disciplines or real-world problem, as well as the need of teachers council for the integrated curriculum. This study is expected to be contribute to development of the integrated curriculum model for the gifted based on the their characteristics and to be utilized in Science Gifted Academy.

An Estimation of Congestion Pricing Using Speed-Flow Relationship (Gangbyeon Expressway) (속도-밀도 모형을 적용한 흔잡통행료 산정 (강변북로를 중심으로))

  • The main purpose of this paper is to develop the practical method to estimate the congestion price in odor to overcome the difficulty of traditional microeconomics approach for demand and cost function concepts. In this paper, we estimate the theoretical congestion toll which reflecting the real traffic conditions such as a speed-density functions using a traffic engineering methods We calculates the optimal congestion toll based on the real traffic conditions assuming that the electronic road pricing (ERP) systems ave installed for the study road. After evaluating the various speed-density relationship methods. we found that the Drake model is best suited for the Gangbyeon Expressway Using the Drake model, the optimal congestion toll will be 94 to 3,255 Won for the traffic speed between 44km/h to 68 km/h based on wage rate method and 107 to 6,381 Won for the marginal substitution method for the Gangbyeon Expressway in city of Seoul, Korea.

Analysis of Design Pattern of Engineering Design Curriculum (공학설계 교육과정의 설계방식 분석 - P대학 공학설계 교육과정을 중심으로 -)

  • This study was carried out to analyze the design pattern on engineering design curriculum P University based on the curriculum design model. For this study, the relation model between organizational factors by Drake & Burns(2004) and university curriculum design pattern Toohey(1999) were used as a frame of the analysis. From the analysis, we confirmed following results. Firstly, the relation between the subjects in the engineering design curriculum was designed to acquire the knowledges of facts, topics, and concepts and then to improve low-level skills, broad-range skills, and high-level skills related to engineering design sequently. Secondly, the design pattern of the engineering design curriculum analyzed in this paper is project and problem based structure. This result will be useful for reviewing and improving the relation between engineering design curriculum.

Traffic Flow Characteristics and Model on Multi-lane Roads in Urban Areas (도시내 다차선도로의 교통류특성 및 모형 연구 - 한남대교 지역을 중심으로 -)

  • Traffic flow characteristics is analysed on eight multi-lane roads which are unsignalized in urban areas. Data of traffic flow rates by classification and average speed were gathered every ten minutes interval for twenty-four hours. Machine (NC-90A) was used to acquire the field data. The major purpose of this study is to build up speed-density models on urban arterial roads. Five different kinds of models were tested. Those models are Greenshields' model, Greenberg's model, modified Greenberg's model, Underwood's model and Drake's model. The modified Greenberg's model fits best at six points and the Greenshield's model fits best two points out of eight points. The breakpoint(Kb) of modified Greenberg's model is between 10 and 32 pcphpl. Capacity drawn from speed-volume relationships were appeared to be arround 2,000 and 2,200 pcphpl at the Hannam Bridge and the Hannam Overpass and 1,100 and 1,700 pcphpl at Namsan Tunnel(No1) and the beginning point of Gyeong-Bu Expressway.
