The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of hiking trails on forest landscape's fragmentation, based on which also to assess the landscape-ecology-based integrity by small drainage area by selecting Bukhansan National Park as a survey target. The results of effect analysis are as follow; size of forest patch decreased; the density of patch and edge increased; patch shape became complicated; the dimensions of core area noticeably decreased and proximity degree between patch increased after trail-building. In addotion, the assessment results of overall landscape ecology-based integrity by small drainage basin showed that the Bukhansan catchment area was highest making 3.7 point, while Gugi catchment area was rated the lowest making 1.6 point. Putting the above results together, it is necessary to prohibit the opening up of unnecessary trails and to make room for ecological restoration of damaged and disturbance area to their original state as nature goes for landscape-ecology-based conservation and management of forests.

Topographic information is indispensable in the applications that require elevational data. These applications are exemplified by watershed partition, extraction of drainage networks, viewshed analysis, derivation of geomorphologic features, quantification of landslide-terrain, and identification of topographic settings susceptible to landsliding. Therefore, we study the accuracy of data on topographic parameters derived from digital elevation models(DEMs). This research wished to analyze the effect that data source and grid size get in topography parameter using gridded DEM. An analysis of topography parameter extract and compared drainage basin, watershed slope, stream network using DEM is constructed by digital map and DTED DEM. Especially, when extract stream network from gridded DEM, received much effects according to threshold value of flowaccumulation regardless of DEM grid size. Therefore, this study applied equal threshold value of flowaccumulation for two data sources, and compare and analyzed stream network.

This paper is to apply Geographical Information System (GIS) supported Geomorphoclimatic Instantaneous Unit Hydrograph (GCIUH) approach for the calculated flash flood trigger rainfall of the mountainous area. GIS techniques was applied in geography data construction such as average slope, drainage area, channel characteristics. Especially, decided stream order using GIS at stream order decision that is important for input variable of GCIUH. We compared the GCIUH peak discharge with the existing report using the design storm at Chundong basin($14.58km^2$). The results showed that derived the GCIUH was a very proper method in the calculation of mountaunous discharge. At the Chundong basin, flash flood trigger rainfall was 12.57mm in the first 20 minutes when the threshold discharge was $11.42m^3/sec$.

An urban runoff model is proposed in this study, which is composed of a surface runoff model and a channel routing model. ILLUDAS is selected as the best fit model for the surface runoff computation, and the dynamic wave model using weighted four-point implicit finite difference scheme is used to perform the channel routing. The 3rd Seongbook bridge basin located in Seoul is selected as the test basin for the proposed model, and the rainfall-runoff data are collected to calibrate and verify the urban runoff model. The computed results by this model showed the fair accuracy when compared with the observed hydrographs. So the model proposed in this study could be used to compute the urban river flow as well as the outflow from the urban drainage area.

The agricultural reservoir watershed plan suggests three specific indices or ways to measure the potential for maintaining reservoir quality in balance with existing or proposed uses: an index of the reservoir's vulnerability to accelerated eutrophication, an index of the degree of land use intensity in reservoir watersheds, and an index of present water quality. Three items that contribute to reservoir eutrophication are included in the vulnerability index: the ratio of reservoir volume to drainage-basin area, shoreline configuration, and mean depth. The watershed land-use intensity index is based on road proximity and upland watershed land-use intensity. Water quality can be given a COD level. All six indicators are considered separately and then rated as follow: low (1), medium (2), or high (3). Five out of 30survey sites were less than 8points, 17sites were less than 11points and 8sites were less than 14points. This study suggests that the sites in the first ranking were potential areas for preservation, sites in the second ranking were potential areas for environmental friendly planning and sites in the third ranking were potential areas for residential need oriented planning. The advantage of this study is the low cost of gathering data for the development of local policy for the planning, management and protection of reservoir basin.
SWMM-LID was calibrated with flow monitoring data in LHI to evaluate runoff after LID application. The flow rate in the B basin was estimated to be 0.94 and 6.15 for O/S and $D_v$, respectively. In the A and C basins, the difference between the observed and simulated data was greater than in the B basin. As a result of runoff reduction efficiency by the application of LID facilities, the change of infiltration increased from 34.6 % to 45.8 % in the entire watershed, and the runoff decreased from 58.8 % to 46.3 %. In the runoff reduction of each LID facility, rain garden E showed the highest effect with 99.9 % and bioretention B showed the lowest effect with 27.5 %. In order to evaluate the efficiency of each LID facility, a comparison is made between the pore volume (V) of the LID and the catchment area (A). The runoff showed a runoff reduction effect of about 70 % above the 0.1 volume/area (V/A) value. As a result of examining the runoff reduction with LID facilities by the LID module of SWMM, a reasonable design is possible by reflecting the appropriate LID volume to drainage area.
The diversity of observed hydrologic data and the development of geographic information system leads significant progress for developing distributed runoff models in the world. One of the typical examples is TOPMODEL, but the spatial coverage of its application Is limited on small headwater basins. The purpose of this study attempts to overcome its limitation and consequently develops a semi-distributed TOPMODEL. The developed model is composed of two components: a watershed runoff component for a lumped representation of hydrologic runoff process on the catchment scale and a kinematic wave type hydraulic channel routing component lot routing the catchment outflows. The application basin is the $2,703km^2$ upper Soyang dam site and several daily and hourly events are selected for model calibrations and verifications. The model parameters are estimated on 1990 daily event. The model performance on correlation coefficient between observed and computed flows are above 0.90 for the verification events. It is concluded that the developed model in this study can be used for flood analysis in large drainage basins.

Inhabitants make a specific cultural landscape in various ways according to his culture. In this paper, I consider the characteristics of cultural landscapes distributed in Sangju. I divide Sangju-City Area owing to physical criteria(relief and drainage basin}, appreciate them according to human criteria(administrative district of Joseon Period, dialects, periodical market area} and classify into 6 small regions: (1) Nakyang Region is the traditionally central place based on alluvial plain marginal to Byeongseong stream and Dong stream, and on hills of Sabeol. (2) Nakdong Region is the traffic center which the water transport of Nakdong river and the land transport of Yeongnamdaero cross each other. (3) The upstream region of Byungseong stream is the agricultural region connected with Nakyang Region. (4) Jungmo Region is a intermontane basin where grape cultivation using its specific climate flourish. (5) Wharyeong Region is a mountainous sightseeing district based on the beautiful scenery and Gyeonwhueon's remains of Sogni mountains and Yongyu valley. (6) Hamnyeong Region is the district of Goryeonggaya realm where 3 whites(cocoon, dried persimmon, rice) are abundant.
Watershed boundaries and flow paths within the watershed are the most important factors required in watershed analysis. Most often the derivation of watershed boundaries and stream network and flow paths is based on topographical maps but spatial variation of flow direction is not clearly understandable using this method. Water resources projects currently use 1: 50, 000-scale ground survey or aerial photography-based topographical maps to derive watershed boundary and stream network. In basins, where these maps are not available or not accessible it creates a real barrier to watershed geo-spatial analysis. Such situations require the use of global datasets, like GTOPO30. Global data sets like ETOPO5, GTOPO30 are the only data sets, which can be used to derive basin boundaries and stream network and other terrain variations like slope aspects and flow direction and flow accumulation of the watershed in the absence of topographic maps. Approximately 1-km grid-based GTOPO 30 data sets can derive better outputs for larger basins, but they fail in flat areas like the Karkheh basin in Iran and the Amudarya in Uzbekistan. A new window in geo-spatial hydrology has opened after the launching of the space-borne satellite stereo pair of the Terra ASTER sensor. ASTER data sets are available at very low cost for most areas of the world and global coverage is expected within the next four years. The DEM generated from ASTER data has a reasonably good accuracy, which can be used effectively for hydrology application, even in small basins. This paper demonstrates the use of stereo pairs in the generation of ASTER DEMs, the application of ASTER DEM for watershed boundary delineation, sub-watershed delineation and explores the possibility of understanding the drainage flow paths in irrigation command areas. All the ASTER derived products were compared with GTOPO and 1:50,000-based topographic map products and this comparison showed that ASTER stereo pairs can derive very good data sets for all the basins with good spatial variation, which are equal in quality to 1:50,000 scale maps-based products.

The methods of the rational formula and Kajiyama formula have been widely used for estimating the peak flood for design to all kind of hydraulic structure. However, there are many limitations and we have to apply these methods to ungauged basin. These methods require to calculate the Probable Maximum Precipitation (PMP) before determining the Probable Maximum Flood (PMF). Creager's method (Creager et al., 1945) is a kind of estimation of specipic flood and this method provided nonlinear equations based on relationship between the drainage area and PMF in order to calculate the PMF of multipurpose dams over medium-sized. But this method has not much applied in Korea. Creager's coefficient is not clear about its application because this method has never been applied to dams in Korea. Based on the PMP for rainfull-runoff models with the PMF of small and larger dams in this research, the range and standard of Creager's coefficients with parameters are proposed to apply basin areas in Korea.
