Estimation of Ungauged Watershed Streamflow using Downstream Discharge Data -In the Case of Kumho River Watershed- (하류 유량자료를 이용한 상류 유역의 미계측 유출량 추정 - 금호강 유역을 대상으로 -)

  • 도시개발에 따른 인구증가와 강수의 계절적 편중 등으로 인하여 우리나라의 수자원량은 부족한 실정이다. 따라서 이러한 수자원을 효율적으로 이용하기 위해서는 유역의 가용 수자원량의 파악과 이에 따른 최적배분이 필요하다. 이러한 하천유량은 우량이나 수위와 같이 연속관측이 어렵기 때문에 관측치가 한정되어 있는 것이 일반적이며 자연하천에서 실시간으로 유량자료를 생산하는 것은 많은 인력과 장비, 경비가 필요하게 된다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 유량자료의 생산에 있어서 시간과 비용의 경제성 등을 고려하고 좀 더 효율적인 방법을 찾기 위하여 낙동강 유역의 제 1지류인 금호강 유역 내에 위치한 동촌 수위관측소의 유량자료를 이용하여 상류에 위치한 금호 단포교 지점을 미계측 유역이라 가정한 후 유량추정방법에 따른 적용성 검토를 위해 강우-유출모형인 SWAT(Soil and Water Assessment Tool)과 유역면적만을 활용하는 비유량법(Drainage-area ratio method), 유출에 영향을 주는 지형인자를 이용하는 지역회귀방법(Regional regression method)을 적용하여 그 타당성을 비교하였다. 모의된 결과, 동촌 금호 단포교 지점의 연간 상하류 유량비교에서 유량반전은 없었으며 비유량법의 유량추정에서는 높은 상관성을 보였으나 2008년과 2009년의 가뭄으로 인하여 강우-유출모형의 유량추정에서는 낮은 상관성을 보여주었다. 지역회귀방법에서는 수위관측소별 유황자료를 종속변수로 유역면적, 유역평균경사, 유로연장을 독립변수로 하는 회귀식을 산정하여 비교하였으나 본 연구에서는 사용된 자료수가 적고 수리구조물을 이용한 회귀수량 등으로 인하여 갈수량이 실측유량과는 다소 차이가 발생하였다. 미계측 유역의 유량추정시에는 자료의 축척기간과 연도별로 안정된 호우사상, 유역의 적절한 배분에 따라 결과치가 좌우되며 본 연구에서 사용된 유량추정은 관측 자료를 기초로 한 간접적인 방법들이였다. 결과적으로 금호강 유역의 동촌 지점을 이용하여 유량추정방법들을 적용해본 결과 비유량법과 강우-유출모형을 사용하는 것이 적정하였으나 관측 자료의 축적기간이 길고 상하류 간의 유량이 안정된 유역에서는 지역회귀방법의 적용으로도 안정된 유량을 산정할 것이라고 판단된다.

  • Streptococcus milleri Goup Bacteria(SMG) comprise three species, Streptococcus anginosus, Streptococcus intermedius, Streptococcus constellatus. Although they are commensal organism, they can be pathogenic. SMG can be aggressive pathogen in the head and neck with a propensity for abscess formation and local extension of the infection. SMG is culturally and biochemically variable, which makes it hard for the clinicians to recognize it. Hence, it seems that this organism has been relatively neglected. Most of the Lancefield F streptococci are SMG. We report one patient who had Group F streptococcal bacteremia and subdural abscess. According to his medical history, he was diagnosed as membranoproliperative glomerulonephritis three years ago. He complained headache although he was treated by appropiate antibiotics. Brain CT was used as a tool to identify the brain abscess. He had surgical drainage and was treated with IV antibiotics postoperatively.

Analysis of Watershed Runoff and Sediment Characteristics due to Spatio-Temporal Change in Land Uses Using SWAT Model (SWAT 모형을 이용한 시.공간적 토지 이용변화에 따른 유량 및 유사량 특성분석)

  • In this study, the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) model was used to assess spatiotemporal effects on watershed runoff and sediment characteristics due to land uses changes from 1999 to 2002 at the small watershed, located in Chuncheon-si, Gangwon province. The annual average flow rate of Scenario I (long-term simulation using land use of 1990), II (long-term simulation using land use of 1996), III(long-term simulation using land use of 200) and IV(simulation using land use of 1990, 1995, and 2000) in long-term simulation) using the SWAT model were 29,997,043 m3, 29,992,628 m3, 29,811,191 m3 and 29,931,238 m3, respectively. It was shown that there was no significant changes in estimated flow rate because no significant changes in land uses between 1990 and 2000 were observed. The annual average sediment loads of Scenarios I, II, III and IV for 15 year period were 36,643 kg/ha, 45,340 kg/ha , 27,195 kg/ha and 35,545 kg/ha, respectively. The estimated annual sediment loads from Scenarios I, II, and III, were different from that from the scenario IV, considering spatio-temporal changes in land use and meterological changes over the years, by 10%, 127%, and temporal changes in land use and meterological changes over the years, by 10%, 127%, and 77%. This can be explained in land use changes in high soil erosion potential areas, such as upland areas, within the study watershed. The comparison indicates that changes in land uses upland areas, within the study watershed. The comparison indicates that changes in land uses can affect on sediment yields by more than 10%, which could exceed the safety factor of 10% in Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs). It is, therefore, recommended that not only the temporal analysis with the weather input data but also spatial one with different land uses need to be considered in long-term hydrology and sediment simulating using the SWAT model

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to develop a new sewage bay that has removed its previous problems and verify the excellence of the maintainability of the new sewage bay. Method: The fluid characteristics in the developed sewage bay was analysed with computer simulation tool(COMSOL MultiphysicsTM ver. 3.2 ; COMSOL) and clarified the problems of the existing sewage bay. In addition, the durability of the newly developed sewage bay was verified by the long-term usability testing. Results: As a result of the simulation of a blocked drainage trap, an whirlpool and blockage did not occurred at the flow rate of 0.6m/sec, and we verified that switch device of drain trap was in good condition durably with 6 months long-term usability test. Conclusion: In this study, a newly advanced sewage bay was developed that solved the problems of the existing sewage bay structure. With the fluid simulation and the long-term usability tests, the excellence of the maintenance ability of the newly developed sewage bay was proved.

Endoscopic Intervention for Anastomotic Leakage After Gastrectomy

  • Anastomotic leaks and fistulas are significant complications of gastric surgery that potentially lead to increased postoperative morbidity and mortality. Surgical intervention is reserved for cases with severe symptoms or hemodynamic instability; however, surgery carries a higher risk of complications. With advancements in endoscopic treatment options, endoscopic approaches have emerged as the primary choice for managing these complications. Endoscopic clipping is a traditional method comprising 2 main categories: through-the-scope clips and over-the-scope clips. Through-the-scope clips are user friendly and adaptable to various clinical scenarios, whereas over-the-scope clips can close larger defects. Another promising approach is endoscopic stent insertion, which has shown a high success rate for leak closure, although vigilant monitoring is required to monitor stent migration. Infection control is essential in post-surgical leakage cases, and endoscopic internal drainage provides a relatively safe and noninvasive means to manage fluids, contributing to infection control and wound healing promotion. Endoscopic suturing offers full-thickness wound closure, but requires additional training and endoscopic versatility. As a promising tool, endoscopic vacuum therapy potentially surpasses stent therapy by draining inflammatory materials and closing defects. Furthermore, the use of tissue sealants, such as fibrin glue and cyanoacrylate, has been reported to be effective in selected situations. The choice of endoscopic device should be tailored to individual cases and specific patient conditions, with careful consideration of the nature of the defect. Further extensive studies involving larger patient populations are required to provide more robust evidence on the efficacy of endoscopic approach in managing post-gastric anastomotic leaks.

Development of Grid based Inundation Analysis Model (GIAM) (격자기반 침수해석모델(GIAM) 개발)

  • Population congestion and increasing porosity caused by urbanization and increasing rainfall intensity are the main reasons for urban inundation damage. In order to reduce the damage to urban flooding, it is necessary to take a inundation analysis model that can be considered the topographic impact (i.e., building and road) and simulate the detailed inundation areas. In this study, Grid based Inundation Analysis Model (GIAM) is developed using a two-dimensional shallow water equations. The study area is Gangnam basin, with a surface area of $7.4km^2$, which includes 5 drainage areas such as Nonhyun, Yeoksam, Seocho 1, 2, and 3. EPA SWMM5 is used for simulating the overflows at each manhole. GIAM model is constructed to allow for simulating a inundation area with 6 m grid size. The inundation analysis is conducted in two heavy rainfall events (Sep. 21, 2010 and July 27, 2011) for the model evaluation. The accuracy of the simulated inundation area is calculated 0.61 and 0.57 at POD index using the historical flooded area report. The developed model will be used as a tool for analyzing the flood prone areas based on rainfall scenario, and a tool for predicting the detailed inundation area in the real-time.

Re-Analysis of Clark Model Based on Drainage Structure of Basin (배수구조를 기반으로 한 Clark 모형의 재해석)

  • This study presents the width function-based Clark model. To this end, rescaled width function with distinction between hillslope and channel velocity is used as time-area curve and then it is routed through linear storage within the framework of not finite difference scheme used in original Clark model but analytical expression of linear storage routing. There are three parameters focused in this study: storage coefficient, hillslope velocity and channel velocity. SCE-UA, one of the popular global optimization methods, is applied to estimate them. The shapes of resulting IUHs from this study are evaluated in terms of the three statistical moments of hydrologic response functions: mean, variance and the third moment about the center of IUH. The correlation coefficients to the three statistical moments simulated in this study against these of observed hydrographs were estimated at 0.995 for the mean, 0.993 for the variance and 0.983 for the third moment about the center of IUH. The shape of resulting IUHs from this study give rise to satisfactory simulation results in terms of the mean and variance. But the third moment about the center of IUH tend to be overestimated. Clark model proposed in this study is superior to the one only taking into account mean and variance of IUH with respect to skewness, peak discharge and peak time of runoff hydrograph. From this result it is confirmed that the method suggested in this study is useful tool to reflect the heterogeneity of drainage path and hydrodynamic parameters. The variation of statistical moments of IUH are mainly influenced by storage coefficient and in turn the effect of channel velocity is greater than the one of hillslope velocity. Therefore storage coefficient and channel velocity are the crucial factors in shaping the form of IUH and should be considered carefully to apply Clark model proposed in this study.

  • Purpose Serum Thyroglobulin measurement is a major tool for the follow-up of differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) patients. Thyroglobulin is Normal thyroid tissue, or thyroid cancer tissue produced only. Thyroid hormone to a halt without Tg differentiation of thyroid cancer recurrence just by measuring how to decide whether there was increasing expectations if I can do it instead. Therefore, in excellent sensitivity Tg new inspection of the functional sensitivity by measuring the looked to evaluate the usefulness of reagents. Thyroidectomy is measuring the numbers Tg (total thyroidectomy) remaining thyroid ablation and radioactive iodine (radioactive iodine remnant ablation, RRA) DTC in patients being diagnosed with or help predict the remaining early detection of thyroid cancer recurrence. Conclusion Recently ultrasensitive thyroglobulin this clinically important indicators of the previous kit and demands are lower than sensitivity to the measurement results. Therefore, ultrasensitive thyroglobulin test is correlated that there would be useful in value in nuclear medicine the thyroid gland.

  • A model for predicting the probability of liquefaction induced by the ocean storm-wave is developed. Many uncertainties are encountered in the analysis of liquefaction potential for the foundation of offshore structures : (1) the storm-wave duration, (2) the effect of reconsolidation, (3) the effect of patial drainage, etc. These uncertainties are formulated in probabilistic terms and used to assess the risk of liquefaction for a given offshore site. The model developed is applied to the Ekofisk oil storage tank in the North Sea installed in 1973. Reasonable comparison is obtained between the probabilities of liquefaction obtained and the results of deterministic models or the field observations. Among the un certainties encountered, it is revealed that the effect of reconsolidation is the most critical factor. Since many problems are encountered in the deterministic models developed so far, the probabilistic model developed in this paper might be a resonable alternative tool and can be used in the design of new offshore structures.

A Study on the Optimization of Anti-Jamming Trash Screen with Rake using by Response Surface Method (반응표면분석법을 이용한 제진기의 목메임 방지 개선 및 레이크 최적화)

  • A trash screen is installed in front of the inflow channel of a drainage pumping station, sewage treatment plant, and a power plant to block floating contaminants. The bottleneck phenomenon, which decreases the water inflow, causes damage to the damper as a result of clogging in between the screen if string type obstacles are not removed. In this paper, the apron was removed, and the screen was expanded, to prevent breakage of the bottleneck phenomenon and string type obstacles. This was designed using an extended rake by adding an inner rake in between the screen interspace to remove the bottleneck phenomenon and string type obstacles. To design the inner rake that satisfies the allowable stresses of the existing damper rake, the experiment points were determined according to the experimental design method using the inner rake vertical length and the thickness of the reinforced section as parameters. The use of the ANSYS static structural module and statistical analysis tool R software gives the optimized shape according to the response surface method. The relative error between the response surface analysis results and the simulation results was 1.63% of the determined optimal design-point rake length of 210.2 mm and the reinforcement section thickness of 2 mm. Through empirical experiments, a test rake was constructed to the actual size, and approximately 97% of the bottleneck phenomenon and string type obstacles could be removed.
