  • The author has proposed and verified the accuracy through experiments on a method of measurement through the use of sound waves that not only can quantitatively measure each of the dual directions of the fiber axis with high accuracy of membrane tension created on the surface of the membrane structure, but also can be easily operated in the field of construction. This paper reports the solution for problems of variables caused in the process of downsizing of the measurement equipment in order for practical use, and verifies the correspondence possibility of various stress ratios.

  • Since IMF system was introduced once, downsizing has been usual phenomenon in business sphere. Downsizing influences the unemployed, and also the survivors such as in job stress, communication bias, lower organizational commitment and so on. This paper reviewed the relationship between organizational commitment and service quality, and the moderating effect of sex in hotel. Based on the responses from 494 hotel employees, the results of multiple regressional analysis showed that affective OC and normative OC have affirmative effects on service quality. The results of moderating analysis showed that continuance OC has an affirmative interactive-effect on responsiveness, assurance, and empathy with gender, and affective OC an negative interactive-effect on assurance.

  • Miro propulsion device is a literally very small propulsion system The reason why such a small propulsion system is required is that micro satellites are considered as substitutions for conventional satellites to reduce cost; the fabrication of micro satellites enables us to produce mass production Microrockets have relatively high values of thrust/weight ratio due to the cube law; weight is proportional to volume and thrust is proportional to area. Accordingly, downsizing makes the ratio of thrust/weight ratio high However, conventionally ignorable facts are not negligible any more in small scale systems. for chemical micro rockets, downsizing causes lots of heat loss as surface to volume ratio increases, which results in the destruction of radical ions. For thrusters using plasma, the generation of strong magnetic field for plasma is very difficult. Also, in the aspect of flow dynamics, the effects of drag and viscosity are important parameters in low Re flows. When these problems are solved, micro propulsion systems can be commercialized and result in spin-off effects in many fields.

  • One means of fulfilling $CO_2$ emission legislation is to downsize engines by boosting their power using turbochargers or mechanical superchargers. This reduces fuel consumption by decreasing the engine displacement. When a turbocharger, which is preferable to a mechanical supercharger in terms of fuel efficiency, is used, there is insufficient availability of exhaust gas energy at low engine speeds, resulting in an unfavorable engine response. Therefore, mechanically driven superchargers have increased in popularity due to their quick response to changing speeds in the transient phase. However, since a mechanical supercharger obtains its driving power from the engine, it is difficult to decrease its fuel consumption. This remains a large negative factor for superchargers, despite their excellent dynamic performance. This study aims to develop a power control concept to improve the fuel economy of a mechanical screw supercharger, which could then be used for engine downsizing.

  • The new 1.4 L turbocharged LPG direct injection (T-LPDI) engine is presented in this paper to improve the fuel efficiency of the vehicles installed with the 2.0 L LPG port fuel injection (LPI) engine, while maintaining the performance as a downsizing concept for the new engine platform development. Firstly, the return type high pressure LPG fuel supply system is designed and mounted in the new 1.4 L T-LPDI engine. As a result, this new engine shows a much better WOT performance and approximately 8 % of improved fuel economy level, as compared to the 2.0 L LPI vehicle. Secondly, the LPDI engine specific optimized design for high pressure fuel components and fuel injection control strategies are proposed and evaluated in order to overcome the restartability problem in a heat-soaked condition called the vapor lock phenomenon. Consequently, these experimental results illustrate a great potential for the developed 1.4 L T-LPDI engine as a possible substitute for the 2.0 L LPI engine.

The variable valve train technology will be a basement for these innovative technologies in internal combustion engines and is supposed to play a key role to improve low thermal efficiency and pumping loss in gasoline engine caused by low compression ratio and throttled operation respectively.

  • 다운사이징이론은 1990년대 등장한 개념으로 가격 대비 컴퓨터 성능의 향상, 분산 네트워크 기술의 발전, 개방형 시스템 환경, 클라이언트/서버방식 확산 등으로 다운사이징 정보시스템을 구축할 수 있는 기술적 환경이 조성되었다고 할 수 있다. 본 연구는 정보시스템 구축방법의 하나인 다운사이징을 이용하여 도서관 정보시스템 구축방법에 관한 연구이다. 기존의 중앙집중식 정보시스템이 가지고 있는 문제점을 살펴보고, 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위한 방법으로 다운사이징 기법을 이용하여 정보시스템의 새로운 모델 설계와 구현을 통해 다운사이징 도서관 정보시스템의 개념적 기초를 마련하는 것이다.

ON THE ASSEMBLY HISTORY OF STELLAR COMPONENTS IN MASSIVE GALAXIES

  • Matusoka & Kawara (2010) showed that the number density of the most massive galaxies (log $M/M_{\odot}=11.5-12.0$) increases faster than that of the next massive group (log $M/M_{\odot}=11.0-11.5$) during 0 < z < 1. This appears to be in contradiction to another important empirical concept of "downsizing". We attempt to understand the two observational findings in the context of the hierarchical merger paradigm using semi-analytic techniques. Our models closely reproduce the result of Matusoka & Kawara (2010). Downsizing can also be understood as larger galaxies have on average smaller assembly ages but larger stellar ages. Our fiducial models further reveal the details on the history of stellar mass growth of massive galaxies. The most massive galaxies (log $M/M_{\odot}=11.5-12.0$ at z=0), which are mostly brightest cluster galaxies, obtain roughly 70% of their stellar components via merger accretion. The role of merger accretion monotonically declines with galaxy mass: 45% for log $M/M_{\odot}=11.0-11.5$ and 20% for log $M/M_{\odot}=10.5-11.0$ at z = 0. The specific accreted stellar mass rates via galaxy mergers decline very slowly during the whole redshift range, while the specific star formation rates sharply decrease with time. In the case of the most massive galaxies, merger accretion becomes the most important channel for the stellar mass growth at z ~ 2. On the other hand, in-situ star formation is always the dominant channel in the $L_*$ galaxies.
