The mmWave cell-free massive MIMO (CFmMIMO), combining the advantages of wide bandwidth in the mmWave frequency band and the high- and uniform-spectral efficiency of CFmMIMO, has recently emerged as one of the enabling technologies for 6G. In this paper, we propose a novel framework for energy-efficient mmWave CFmMIMO systems that uses low-resolution digital-analog converters (DACs) and phase shifters (PSs) to introduce lowcomplexity hybrid precoding. Additionally, we propose a heuristic pilot allocation scheme that makes the best effort to slash some interference from copilot users. The simulation results show that the proposed hybrid precoding and pilot allocation scheme outperforms the existing schemes. Furthermore, we reveal the relationship between the energy and spectral efficiencies for the proposed mmWave CFmMIMO system by modeling the whole network power consumption and observe that the introduction of low-resolution DACs and PSs is effective in increasing the energy efficiency by compromising the spectral efficiency and the network power consumption.

In this paper, we propose iterative algorithms to obtain the transmit and the receive vectors for interference alignment in cellular network. Although the conventional interference alignment algorithms for interference channels can be applied to cellular network, the number of iterations required to achieve a high sum rate is very large. The key idea in the proposed algorithms is to ignore intra-cell interference in updating the transmit vector for uplink and the receive vector for downlink. Numerical results show that the proposed algorithms achieve higher sum rates than the conventional algorithms for given iteration numbers when multiple antennas and a single carrier are used for interference alignment. It is also shown that the proposed algorithms outperform the conventional algorithms when a single antenna and multiple subcarriers are used for interference alignment.

Femtocells have recently been recognized for their potential to boost network capacity, improve end-user QoS and throughput, and do so at a cheap cost and with ease of implementation. The use of femtocells in indoor environments, such as residential buildings with neighboring homes, is becoming more popular. Femtocells are subject to interference from other femtocells, and the unwanted effects of interference are amplified when femtocells are deployed in close proximity to one another. As a consequence, the network's overall performance is degraded to a significant degree. One of the strategies that is thought to be effective in reducing the impact of interference is altering the transmission power of the femtocells. In this paper, a dynamic downlink transmission power of femtocells is suggested. In accordance with the observed cost function unit, each femtocell automatically changes its transmission power. If a femtocell causes too much interference for its neighbors, its transmission power level will be limited by that interference's rate. A simulation experiment is conducted to validate the effectiveness of the suggested system when compared with other schemes. When compared to previous schemes, which are addressed in this study, the numerical results show that the proposed strategy could provide more capacity while also ideally mitigating the influence of interference among co-channel deployed femtocells.

With the widespread deployment of the fifth-generation (5G) communication networks, various real-time applications are rapidly increasing and generating massive traffic on backhaul network environments. In this scenario, network congestion will occur when the communication and computation resources exceed the maximum available capacity, which severely degrades the network performance. To alleviate this problem, this paper proposed an intelligent resource allocation (IRA) to integrate with the extant resource adjustment (ERA) approach mainly based on the convergence of support vector machine (SVM) algorithm, software-defined networking (SDN), and mobile edge computing (MEC) paradigms. The proposed scheme acquires predictable schedules to adapt the downlink (DL) transmission towards off-peak hour intervals as a predominant priority. Accordingly, the peak hour bandwidth resources for serving real-time uplink (UL) transmission enlarge its capacity for a variety of mission-critical applications. Furthermore, to advance and boost gateway computation resources, MEC servers are implemented and integrated with the proposed scheme in this study. In the conclusive simulation results, the performance evaluation analyzes and compares the proposed scheme with the conventional approach over a variety of QoS metrics including network delay, jitter, packet drop ratio, packet delivery ratio, and throughput.

Multi-user Multiple-Input and Multiple-Output (MU-MIMO) has potential for prominently enhancing the capacity of wireless network by simultaneously transmitting to multiple users. User selection is an unavoidable problem which bottlenecks the gain of MU-MIMO to a great extent. Major state-of-the-art works are focusing on improving network throughput by using Channel State Information (CSI), however, the overhead of CSI feedback becomes unacceptable when the number of users is large. Some work does well in balancing tradeoff between complexity and achievable throughput but is lack of consideration of fairness. Current works universally ignore the rational utilizing of time resources, which may lead the improvements of network throughput to a standstill. In this paper, we propose TOUSE, a scalable and fair user selection scheme for MU-MIMO. The core design is dynamic-time-warping-based user selection mechanism for downlink MU-MIMO, which could make full use of concurrent transmitting time. TOUSE also presents a novel data-rate estimation method without any CSI feedback, providing supports for user selections. Simulation result shows that TOUSE significantly outperforms traditional contention-based user selection schemes in both throughput and fairness in an indoor condition.
In development of network-enabled consumer electronics, much of the time and effort is spent analyzing and solving network performance problems. In this paper, we define an instance of such problems discovered while developing a commercial home network gateway. We then analyze its cause and propose a solution mechanism. Our home network gateway uses art asymmetric link (ADSL) and suffers from an undesirable phenomenon where downlink traffic interferes with upload speed. We call this phenomenon the network performance interference problem. While this problem can easily be confused with receive livelock caused by packet contention at the input queue, we and that this is not the case. By performing extensive experiments and analysis, we reveal that our problem is caused by packet contention at the output queue and certain intrinsic characteristics of TCP. We devise an ACK-separation queuing mechanism for this problem and implement it in the home network gateway Our experiments show that it effectively solves the problem.
The heterogeneous network (HetNet) has been discussed in detail in the Long-Term Evolution (LTE) and LTE Advanced standards. However, the standardization of High-Speed Packet Access HetNet (HSPA HetNet) launched by 3GPP is pushing at full steam. Interference coordination (IC), which is responsible for dealing with the interference in the system, remains a subject worthy of investigation in regard to HSPA HetNet. In this paper, considering the network framework of HSPA HetNet, we propose a quasi-distributed IC (QDIC) scheme to lower the interference level in the co-channel HSPA HetNet. Our QDIC scheme is constructed as slightly different energy-efficient non-cooperative games in the downlink (DL) and uplink (UL) scenarios, respectively. The existence and uniqueness of the equilibrium for these games are first revealed. Then, we derive the closed-form best responses of these games. A feasible implementation is finally developed to achieve our QDIC scheme in the practical DL and UL. Simulation results show the notable benefits of our scheme, which can indeed control the interference level and enhance the system performance.

Recent advancements in broadband wireless communication technologies enable mobile users to receive video streaming services with various smart devices. The long term evolution (LTE) network provides high bandwidth and low latency for several emerging mobile applications. This paper proposes the buffer aware scheduling (BAS) approach to schedule the downlink video traffic in LTE network. The proposed BAS scheme applies the weighting function to heuristically adjust the scheduling priority by considering the buffer status and channel condition of UE so as to reduce the time that UE stays in the connected state without receiving data. Both of 1080P and 2160P resolution video streaming sources were applied for exhaustive simulations to examine the performance of the proposed scheme by comparing to that of the fair bandwidth (FB) and the best channel quality indicator (CQI) schemes. The simulation results indicate that the proposed BAS scheme not only achieves better performance in power saving, streaming delivery time, and throughput than the FB scheme while maintaining the similar performance as the best CQI scheme in light traffic load. Specifically, the proposed scheme reduces streaming delivery time and generates less signaling overhead than the best CQI scheme when the traffic load is heavy.

High Speed Uplink Packet Access(HSUPA) is a WCDMA Release 6 technology which corresponds to High Speed Downlink Packet Access(HSDPA). Node B Supports fast scheduling, Hybrid ARQ(HARQ), short Transmission Time Interval(TTI) for high rate uplink packet data. It is very important to detect Iub congestion to improve end user's Quality of Service(QoS). This paper proposes Node B Congestion Detection(BCD) mechanism and suggests to use the hybrid of Transport Network Layer(TNL) congestion detection and BCD. It is shown that HSUPA user throughput performance can be improved by the proposed method even with small Iub bandwidth.

This paper focuses on evaluating the performance of a cellular network using power control based frequency reuse partitioning (FRP) in downlink (DL). In our work, in order to have the realistic environment, the spectral efficiency of the system is evaluated through traffic analysis, which most of the previous works did not consider. To further decrease the cell edge user's outage, the concept of power ratio is introduced and applied to the DL FRP based cellular network. In considering network topology, we first divide the cell coverage area into two regions, the inner and outer regions. We then allocate different sub-bands in the inner and outer regions of each cell. In the analysis, for each zone ratio, the performance of FRP system is evaluated for the given number of power ratios. We consider performance metrics such as call blocking probability, channel utilization, outage probability and effective throughput. The simulation results show that there is a significant improvement in the outage experienced by outer UEs with power control scheme compared to that with no power control scheme and an increase in overall system throughput.
