  • The doma (cutting board) is an essential kitchen utensil. The general doma used at present is not sultable for cutting kimchi-like juicy foods, because It is a nat flat structure. Kimchi juice contains vitamins, organle acids, and lactic acid bacteria, and inhibits Oxidation of flavor of kimchi. In addition, if the juice flows down on the doma during cutting the doma work-table and kimchi bottom is contaminated. In this studies a new type of doma for kimchi. was made in order to minimize the Juice Iou during cutting. This new one baa a two-dimensional function of low due to length slope face and slanted gutter of width. No this new type has been developed worldwide, as far as the present writer is aware. The new one has various effectivenesses: minimixing loss of kimchi juice and contamination of doma work-table and kitchen bottom by kimchi juice, saving water and time to water contaminated cutting board, work-table and diahtowel (hangju). preventing round from falling down frorr doma duing cutting, decreasing damage of cutting the user's finger, cutting by the fixed size and shape. Draining and drying is easy and it is convenient to cut all juicy food.

  • This paper deals with the relation of cutting conditions and damaged layer by investigating cutting force, cutting temperature and residual stress in high speed machining. Damaged layer was measured using optical microscope on samples prepared by metallographic techniques. The scale of this damaged layer depends upon characteristics of cutting force and cutting temperature. Damaged layer depth increases with feed per tooth and radial depth. In a different another way, damaged layer remains almost unchanged according to spindle speed. Therefore, the effective method for decreasing damaged layer is that cut down feed per tooth and radial depth.

  • This study is concerned about the verification and the implementation of a mechanical model for the force system in end milling. The model is based on the relationship between the cutting forces and the chip thickness. The components of the model are based on the average cutting forces which are experimentally obtained. And, both instantaneous and average force system characteristics are described as a function of cut geometry and a feed rate. This model employed two specific cutting forces, instantaneous and average specific cutting force, and the models which obtained using two cutting forces were compared and analyzed. In this study, cutter deflection with respect to the center of rotation is considered, which is a major part of the tool run-outs. The effect of run-out on the cutting forces is also discussed. The relationships among the run-out parameters, cutting parameters and the resulting force system characteristics are presented. In all cases, for the down milling with a right hand helix cutter is considered.

  • To propose a basic material that can improve the crumples in the knee area and can be applied as an element of garment design, the present study examined the elongation rates of the samples by differentiating the number of cutting lines according to the direction of the fabric, and then determined the puckering phenomenon by judging the conditions of the seams based on the looks of seam lines after bi-axil elongation. After the subjective evaluation on the knee areas of both the standard and modified trousers, the following conclusion was drawn : The elongation rates of the samples are: warp (3.98%)cross-legged (-0.2)>squatting down (-0.4); those in the modified trousers feel more comfortable when sitting on a chair (0.2)>cross-legged (0)>squatting down (-0.6). In the cross-legged posture, the modified trousers (0) has higher scores in the subjective evaluation than the standard ones (-0.2). The evaluation on the looks of needleworks in the samples with cutting lines along the direction of the fabric: weft2 (5.0)

  • A method using cutting force signal and neural network for detection tool damage is proposed. Cutting force signal is gained by tool dynamometer and the signal is prepocessed to normalize. Cutting force signal is changed by tool state. When tool damage is occurred, cutting force signal goes up in comparison with that in normal state. However, the signal goes down in case of catastrophic fracture. These features are memorized in neural network through nomalizing couse. A new nomalizing method is introduced in this paper. Fist, cutting forces are sumed up except data smaller than threshold value, which is the cutting force during non-cutting action. After then, the average value is found by dividing by the number of data. With backpropagation training process, the neural network memorizes the feature difference of cutting force signal between with and without tool damage. As a result, the cutting force can be used in monitoring the condition of cutting tool and neural network can be used to classify the cutting force signal with and without tool damage.

  • Inclined surface milling in the mould and die industries is one of the most commonly needed cutting process. For the variety and complexity of cutting characteristics in various cutting condition, it is difficult to select a optimal tool path orientation. Especially, when the cutting process becomes unstable, it induces self-exited vibrations, a frequent cause of poor tool life, rough surface finish, damage to the workpiece and the machine tool itself, and excessive down time. The comparative results through FFT analysis in this study provide a guideline for the selection tool path orientation.

  • In recent, various shapes of pattern in micron or nano scale are adapted in many applications due to their good mechanical or optical properties. Light guide panel (LGP) of the LCD is one of important applications for micro pattern and micro prism shape is one of the typical patterns. Many applications have the patterns on their surface and the size of the pattern keep decreasing down to the order of micron or even under micron. On the other hand, the area to be patterned keeps enlarging. These two trends in patterned products require tooling micro patterns on large surface, which has still many technical problems to be solved mainly due to pattern size and the tooling area. In this study, we fabricate prism shape of patterns using diamond cutting tool on some metal core and plastic core like PMMA Some of cutting conditions are investigated including cutting force, cutting depth and speed for different core materials.

  • In modern manufacturing, many products that have geometrically complicated features, including three-dimensional sculptured surfaces, are being designed and produced to meet various sophisticated functional specifications. The cutting force is required not only for the design of machine and cutting tools, but also for the determination of the cutting conditions for the various machining operations. The ball-end mill is deflected by the cutting force and, the tool deflection is one of the main reasons of the machining errors on a free-form surface. Hence, The cutting force generated in the ball-end milling is the most important property of the machining. The purpose of this study is to find the characteristics of the cutting force in inclined plane and the resultant machining errors in the ball-end milling process. Although the depth of cut is constant in the inclined plane, the cutting force area varies due to the hemisphere of the ball-end mill.

  • CNC(Computer Numerical Control) machine tools are being used in various industrial fields such as aircraft and automobiles. The machining conditions used in the mold industry are used, and the simulation and the experiment are compared. The tool used in the experiment was carried out to increase the reliability of the simulation of the cutting machining. The program used in the 3D-FEM (finite element method) was the AdvantEdge and predicted by down-milling. The tool model is used 3D-FEM simulation by using the cutting force, temperature prediction. In this study, we carried out the verification of cutting force by using a 3-axis tool dynamometer (Kistler 9257B) system when machining the plastic mold Steel machining of NAK-80. The cutting force experiment data using on the charge amplifier (5070A) is amplified, and the 3-axis cutting force data are saved as a TDMS file using the Lab-View based program using on NI-PXIe-1062Q. The machining condition 7 was the most similar to the simulation and the experimental results. The material properties of the NAK-80 material and the simulation trends reflected in the reverse design of the tool were derived similarly to the experimental results.
